Tobias does some great art, but, really, his strength was in the storyline
No it wasn't. Vogel is a far better storyteller than Tobias was. It's not Vogel's fault MKA sucked so bad, or that Boon gave in and brought back Liu Kang.
That's your opinion (which you are entitled to).
My opinion is that Vogel is a very good storyteller,....but that the backstories of MK1-MK4 were superior to the backstories of MK5-MK7 (even when you compare the worst of the two sets; MK4 vs MKA. Or when you compare the best of the two subsets; MK1-2-3 vs MK5-6. Another indication is the new characters created during MK1-4 and MK5-7. There are hardly new characters from MK5-7 that were as original, compelling and favored as the new characters from MK1-4). And you have to take into account that the MK1-MK4 set did not have the luxury of a separate game like Konquest to progress the story in, so even in that limited mode, Tobias put on a great story that still is the basic and also still is regarded as the best chapters of the MK mythology.
Vogels main talent is game developing and did the stories as a side-role (he didn't even have time to do it for MKA),...while Tobias core job actually is comics, storytelling, art and design (he did comic stories when he was a kid).
I look forward to seeing a MK story of a Tobias and Vogel collaboration,...so Tobias..please stay!!
Are you kidding me? Aside of Kira, the rest of MK5-MK6 new characters ARE new characters. Tobias has a plenty of pallete swap, and Jarek (his "Kira"), and fucked up one of the best characters (Shinnok in MKM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shinnok in MK4). And MKDA > Rest of all saga in terms of roster and storyline (MK2 is overrated).
Vogel as a storyline leader, with the collaboration of Tobias (with his main job, to control Ed, because Ed choose the characters, and can fuck up any great storyline (MKD), or directly entire one (MKAr), probably we have again the best stories.
Maybe we need Tobias, but surely, we DON'T need Tobias over Vogel in storyline direction. As much, Vogel AND Tobias as co-leaders (and with this order).
