I'd be more inclined to agree if scorpion had more of a prominant role in mk lore,but he doesn't. The closest he ever got to liu kang status was deception, but even then it was murky and didnt go anywhere.

We can all pretend like it was boon that made scorpion the face of mortal kombat, but that blame goes where it rightfully should, the community.

That was two decades ago. Mortal Kombat has lots of icons now and yet the developers seem to focus on the same two. I think people would respond more positively towards Sonya and Johnny Cage being DLC than Scorpion who despite not being a big player in the MK canon still dominates a lot of attention.

Two decades gone by and I guarantee you people would shit bricks if scorpion were to be left out of a title. Haha.

And as far as Sonya and Johnny Cage goes, I have no doubt the community would respond well(outside of the people that want a purely DC experience). In terms of dollars and cents, I doubt many would go out of their way to buy them.

I think its gonna be so amazing if they announce someone other than scorpion and render this whole conversation moot.

I know, that's just plain wrong.

That goes for any of the MK sacred cows. I actually feel this is a sore spot for MK fandom since NRS has the absolutely awful habit of dropping half their roster for new characters almost every game.

You never really know who people will respond well to with DLC. I definitely wouldn't have thought that Freddy would be the biggest seller and yet. ALTHOUGH that could mean that Scorpion would be a big seller as well it's just that man am I fucking sick of him.

Freddy had a lot in his favor though. One of the biggest names in horror, very rare appearances in the video game spectrum, and the curiosity factor(how will he play, what fatalities will they come up with, etc.)
