Will Scorpion really be DLC for Injustice?

I know this has been talked about to death already. But lets break some things down here.

We know the list that was leaked has been proven accurate. We got our Lobo, Batgirl, Zod Possibly, and then ... Scorpion.

So guest characters are nothing new as we had Freddy and Kratos.

But MK9 was never said to not have any "guest" characters and after Kratos was apart of the game anything was possible at that point.

With Injustice, Ed specifically said we want to get away from MK.

In reality we are still within the DC universe with these 2 characters.

Granted it wasn't what we all voted for or expected it's still DC.

So my question is, even with the leaked info we got, do you really think Scorpion will be in this game? I mean he was just in 2011, and lets remember the Guest characters we had in MK9 were not in any previous MK or NRS installment. So why would Scorpion be in this game when he's been in virtually everything?

I know, you're saying to target the MK fans into getting injustice.

Why would we need to target anymore consumers when the logo itself says "From the Creators of Mortal Kombat."

Do we really need Scorpion to represent this game when we already know who made it?

It doesn't add up. Sure we know the voice over work is for scorpion and yes it was found in the code. But why does MM's Silhouette remain on the season pass when everyone else on it looks like businessmen in suits. It makes no sense to represent one character in terms of looks and have everyone else be random.

It doesn't add up to me at all. And the fact that Scorpion would even be associated with the DC cast and has no tie in with anyone makes no sense.

In MK9's trailer we saw Scorpion go head to head with Kratos. But who would Scorpion really tie into in this game? There's no endings or hints to him being involved anywhere.

I'm just saying. If scorpion is the final character FUCK US ALL. But if that part of the Code was thrown in there to fuck with fans. Well.

Just saying, but Ares voice actor sounds like he'd be perfect for MM.

Lend some thoughts and be modest about it. I don't want opinions based on disappointment. I myself am heated to. But let's be realistic.

We got F*cked out of our Poll's, sure. But if this game is to be directed away from MK. Do you really think it's set in stone to get Scorpion?

Well, Ed Boon technically did depart from MK given that this game didn't have a guest character on the initial roster like MK9 (xbox would have gotten one too if Microsoft had played ball). As far as I'm concerned, Scorpion is in. There's no fighting it now.

And for every DC fan who applauded the inclusion of Kratos and Freddy in MK9... well, now you know how I feel, and I'm not pointing fingers here. I can't even remember who was or wasn't pro-Freddy, but you know who you are (even if I don't).

If there's any saving grace, it's that the select screen would look awkward with only 4 DLC. That's the closest to hope we're going to get.

I am not happy with the chosen characters for DLC at all. I don't care about any of them, be it Lobo, Batgirl, Zod or Scorpion. Those on here who know me also know that Scorpion is one of my least favourite MK characters, so his inclusion to Injustice really displeases me. Luckily, he is DLC, so I am not forced to get him, but I am still disappointed that none of the DLC characters are some I want.

As for guest characters, I didn't mind Kratos in MK all that much, because I like him as a character, however, his gameplay in MK was really shitty, so I think he is just a waste of space, really. I am glad NRS didn't make the same mistake with Injustice.
Freddy's inclusion in MK infutiated me, not just because I don't like him at all, but also because that last spot as DLC could have been given to an MK character. So I totally understand why some DC fans hate the thought of Scorpion being a DLC for this game. At least, as MINION said, the other DLC are proper DCU characters, even if they may not be what people wanted. But Scorpion's spot could have been given to another DCU character, one people actually want, like Martian Manhunter, Power Girl, Black Canary, Poison Ivy, Blue Beetle etc.

I have no idea why NRS chose these characters to be DLC. I can see people are generally fond of Lobo's inclusion, so even though I don't care about him, NRS seems to have chosen at least a well-liked DCU character as the first DLC. My only guess for why Scorpion is DLC is because Boon likes him... Which is a shitty reason, if you ask me. And then there's Batgirl and Zod... I'm in a loss for words on those two. They are just waste of space, in my opinion (now Mobster can't bitch about the lack of those three words).

I don't know man. I would certainly hope NRS was above some dirty shit like that. Teasing manhunter to boost season pass numbers would be a huge breach of trust. For the mere fact that I like to think better of NRS, I hope manhunter is in and scorpion was just a massive trolling effort.

That's the first thing I thought after seeing the revised select screen today. A small bit of hope, however futile it may seem.

I maybe wrong. But in reality, Scorpion if he is DLC in Injustice would have no Dialogue because he's not in the story. Secondly, Ed has always done Scorpion's GET OVER HERE sound. And lastly, if true Scorpion wouldn't have any dialogue in his ending either since it's female narrated.

Which is why I still think there's hope MM is just being voiced by this actor everyone thought was used for Scorpion.

I know Scorpion has the voice actor from MK9 but he did a lot of voice work for scorpion in story and character intro. I just don't see why they would use him again for anything but a character intro/outro.

Guess we'll see.

The poll might have been about DLC after the announced ones you know. I'm sure it takes more then a few weeks to develop new characters.

And for every DC fan who hates the idea of Scorpion being included (side note: Scorpion is my favorite character in MK despite never using him multiplayer, but even I'm not /fond/ of him being involved) there's probably tons of MK fans who are fist pumping.

I like Lobo, I'm genuinely excited about Batgirl, and I can't wait to see Zod. And I'm optimistic they'll pump out more DLC.

MMH was my most wanted DLC too but I think the fact that Lobo is together with heroes in the select screen kills any chance he already had. Also I think that full body silhouette in the season pass was fake, so you can't really accuse them for that. BUT you can accuse them of being liars and scammers because in every interview the were quick to deconfirm the involvement of everything MK in this game, be it characters or game mechanics. They also did that with their twitter accounts, so everything people blame them for us self inflicted

Lobo: Good choice, he's fun to play, people actually wanted him.

Batgirl: Nobody wanted her to begin with, we have enough Bat characters, an utter waste of a slot.

Zod: Clearly just a marketing ploy for Man of Steel, nobody wanted him either, another wasted slot.

Scorpion: Guest character, will probably fetch high sales, may bring in reluctant MK fans who didn't want to play Injustice, DC fans will rage.

Batgirl and Zod are the only ones who bother me. MM was a given but we get another useless Bat character. Zod was also unwanted, but at least he has a purpose. What the hell is Batgirl promoting? Not a goddamn thing.

I'd trade Batgirl and Zod for MM and Swamp Thing any day. And if we really needed another Bat character, why not Poison Ivy? She's probably the most highly requested Bat character that's not on the roster. At least people asked for her.

I have no problem with Scorpion. I love guest characters in fighting games, even if it makes no sense. (See Star Wars in Soul Caliber) Scorpion may have been a wasted slot, but I'd still rather have Scorpion over Batgirl.

I hear what you guys are saying. But isn't it weird how another Nod to Manhunter was used in Ed's recent tweet about the #floodwin and the #12 comic which he as a pic of an oddly enough has MM in it?

Quite possible just a reference to a what could be season 2 pass. Like I said we'll have to see. However if they want a season 2 pass, they should act fast PS4 does come out this year...

But he has been hinting him since the beggining with unofficial DLC polls, pictures from his desktop and other tweets. Also in recent interviews he likes to mention his name a lot and how much people want him. At least Boon be subtle and don't get people excited over nothing with false promises

MMH could still be a DLC character, despite Scorpion's inclusion...I knew Scorpion would should up as soon as they announced the game.

I couldn't find any other DLC topic thread that matched mine, so i picked to most recenly posted and i'm going slightly off-topic. I thought it better to add to an existing discussion than make an entirely new one for something that is related.

I turn my back for 5 minutes and what do i see? DLC!?!?!? What the actual!?!?! This game got released like what, 2-3 weeks ago??? and the makers are ALREADY making DLC available to purchase when lots of people/fans have JUST bought the game. (not me, i'm skint.)

What this means is: Extreme trolling by WB/NRS or whoever came up with the idea. The characters would have had to have been prepared and ready for inclusion by the time of the main game's release. I know that DLC is practically a given these days, and sadly long gone are the days when in order to obtain all unlockables you had to do more than have a healthy bank-balance, but this timing is what i call an insult.

Is anyone else actually OFFENDED by this blatant cash-grabbing move? I'm glad i deided not to spend what little i have on the main game, because it's now almost certain that (like MK) there will be a 'complete edition' release. (which in itself was a troll, because what came out a mere month after that? the Vita version with even more skins, missions etc.)

I just don't think this is 'fanservice', it's more like 'fanslaughter (of wallets)', i.e. 'fan disservice'.

If anyone else has mentioned it before i'm sorry, i looked first before latching on to this thread.

Good post Pickle. I think a lot more people need to remember that character design, programming, implementing, testing etc. take a considerable amount of time. Therefore, these DLC characters were more than likely chosen some time ago and the polls were used to gather information for future DLC and/or sequels, to make fans feel like they had an impact on DLC, or maybe even to just troll.

In any event, like you, I didn't pick up Injustice at launch. I'll never buy a NRS title at launch again after the release of the "Komplete" edition and Vita version. This double dippling BS has got to stop IMO. Obviously the practice isn't exclusive to NRS and I'm not singling them out, but like with most other games I'll wait for the GOTY or Complete edition (or whatever name it goes by). It'll have all the DLC and it will be cheaper than the original launch. Worst case scenario there is no other edition and (maybe) I get the game for cheap later down the line. I have no problem waiting.

DLC is always planned way early and released soon after the game's release date while its still 'hot' as people will be less likely to buy them later on...

For me, DLC and bonus pre order content and all this cash grabbing crap is a total turnoff...I stopped buying most of my games on release. I now wait for complete re-releases before buying the games I want...

I think the terms 'FUCK US ALL' and fanslaughter pretty much sums it up!

I truly miss the days when everything was on the disc and could be unlocked at some point by playing the game instead of being kept away at launch only to have us fork out our hard earned money to pay for what should have been there in the first place

and to top off the icing on the shit cake, they give us DLC that we never asked for.

I think I might hold off purchasing any DLC for Injustice... till after the Komplete Edition releases and drops in price in a years time

How would Scorpion work in Injustice. Half of his moves are already used by Batman and the other half simply wouldn't work...Good luck blocking the teleport punch he had since MK1 with back to block

I'll be the first to say I'm not happy with the DLC treatment at all. We are pretty much reliving MK9 all over again. Also I read somewhere that Batgirl was one of Ed's favorite characters, so that's why I assume she made the roster.

Plus Lobo got shafted really bad....no alt costume, no archive space, no portrait, no icon, no background....not to mention I can't play with him against someone who doesn't have the DLC...I guess I had too much faith.

As for the Season Pass...it's pretty much written in bold what you get with it, people just assumed they were going to get everything for 16 bucks...get real.

No one is forcing you to buy the DLC. Just another example of the entitled gamer not getting what they think they deserve.

Do some research on how game design actually works, before you freak out about DLC not being on the disc.

I haven't read all the comics yet(because I only read paperback) From what I've noticed is that Lobo, Batgirl, Zod, and Scorpion aren't in it. Since they don't effect the story, they make good choices. Also, NRS could be saving characters like MMH and Dr.Fate for the sequel.
If you look at the way they added Lobo to the player select screen, they could fit in 8 DLC characters. This(and only this)makes me think we might 1 more season pass. If so, I hope we get a better set of characters.
My guesses are; Martian Manhunter, Dr. Fate, Red Hood, and Black Canary. I'm also still holding out for a movie costume pack ;)

I actually have to disagree that that the DLC was picked well in advance and developed co-currently with the game. Boon himself stated that a character can take up 6 weeks from when his team starts working and programming him, to where he is playable in the game. Add in a week or two for testing and polishing. I figured Lobo was probably started around the beginning of March, which is around the time Injustice probably went golden and the main game was wrapped up. Game development is usually wrapped up about a month before a game launches (if not sooner).

I think you present a very compelling argument. His moves just wouldn't mesh in Injustice, however that's not to say NRS couldn't be creative enough to make them work.
