Soooo just because Jade and Reptile are in the lead (since yesterday morning) the majority of the votes are "spammers?"
Mick-Lucifer Wrote:
Actually, no. We got hit by some of the worst, least subtle spam voting we've seen during either contest. Liu Kang & Kung Lao pretty assuredly won, even if it was close. We could default to a pre-spam number, but that didn't seem satisfying. It's disappointing, but it doesn't look like we're going to be able to unpick the spam votes without completely stalling. We'll push on as normal today, but it's been a disappointing turn. Haven't decided how we'll progress, yet.

I'm just curious... how do you know which votes are spammers and which ones are fans who genuinely LIKE Reptile and Jade?

Spamming votes? LOL
I've been voting in the competition but personally I think there should have been a bit of break between this and the last one, hence my absense from the comments.
I voted for Team green btw as I'm fond of Jade.

Well, one way or another, you might get skinned, cause if Kitana and Sindel win, Sindel will scream you skin off, Kahn will smack your skin off with his hammer, Reptile will eat your skin, and Kintaro will tear your skin off, so wouldnt it be a lose lose situatinon if anybody won? It seems that whenever Jade is in the lead, it is presumably due to spam votng.
Two things:
1. How are you able to determine the difference between a genuine vote and a spam vote? Not being a smartass, I want to know this.
2. If there are actually people spamming votes (I can't imagine why, since the tournaments are merely for fun), how are they doing this?

Apparently, people make fake accounts. But I agree, whenever Jade is in the lead its due to spam. I honestly think that Jade is more popular than Liu Kang and Reptile does have a lot of fans. He and Ermac were pretty close in the last tournament and Ermac placed second...
No matter what, someone will complain about who is winning and who is not, but if these tournaments are just being spammed/rigged etc... why bother? They seem to upset people lol.
Either way... I doubt spam was a factor. Like I said, Reptile and Jade were way in the lead before yesterday evening.

We've literally just patched an exploit that should minimize the problems we've had. Suffice it to say that, yes. The people who run the site do actually have methods of knowing what's going on, even above and beyond the expertise of guy who saw poll at non-descript, obviously post-stuffing time.
I think it would be right to observe that certain characters clearly attract a highly motivated, slightly deranged fanbase. With any luck we'll move on without any more significant interruptions. We can't untangle the spam votes to any satisfactory degree, but obviously it isn't going to put anyone to rest to revert back to an arbitrary number. The fairest option may simply be to rule it a no contest and come back at the end of the round, for another shot at a pure vote.

The recent past kollides with rewritten history as Round 1 resumes! The original Deadly Alliance takes on the NYPD! Quan Chi & Shang Tsung may have a traditional rivalry, but in 2002, they became the titular tandem of the game that reinvigorated a dormant series: Deadly Alliance! Their partnership ended the reign of Kang! Doing it all again in 2011 was the new "Mortal Kombat" -- wherein the secret history of MK3 alumnists made a tag team of New York City cops: Stryker & Kabal. This NYPD pair survived invasion, with mixed results. It's magicman versus machine gun -- who wins?!

I vote Stryker and Kabal. Those 2 are really awesome characters. Stryker has always been a favorite of mine.
Shang and Quan Chi can go eat dirt.

LOL, do you guys not know what a IP ADDRESS IS? If you create multiple accounts from one computer they can find out that the majority of spam votes are coming from a certain computer(s). Say, if I create another account again on this computer and make a vote.
It's the same IP address just a different account my friend that's how you can tell what are spam votes from real votes.
Every computer has an IP address in case you didn't know.(Not being an asshole).

When you think about it, how it's done is quite obvious. Shame on me for not noticing.
Still waiting on the all-female tournament.

The Deadly Alliance is legendary. LEGENDARY. I like Stryker and don't mind Kabal but they don't stand up against Quan Chi and Shang Tsung.

"No one can beat this Deadly Alliance!"
... And then Kung Lao beats the crap out of them. XD

I like Stryker and Kabal a lot more than Quan Chi and Shang Tsung. Sure, they were the only successful bad guys in the series to kill all the heroes, but Quan Chi was shoved down my throat so badly ever since DA that I can feel the bastard kicking my colon as he laughs about his inclusion into Shaolin Monks and the last game. And with that story change, Shang Tsung fell from grace, going from Kahn's most powerful sorcerer, to a miserable failure, executed by Kahn to strengthen Sindel.
Stryker and Kabal got buffs that made them better and even made Stryker a more credible character. I have to vote for the mortals this time.
