Sent mine in! The holidays took their toll so I decided to sumbmit just a basic concept for my alternate not a fully completed painting..(consider only the upper body finished) I hope Mick got em'!

I had submitted many hours before the time I saw the response. Well, right now, in response, I JUST SUBMITTED an update to my character's bio and ending for MK9 timeline placement. I'd like to see these be used instead, if that's not an issue.

Just sent mine in, heh.... Didn't finish it until today, which is silly because I had a complete one already, but wanted to start over with only a couple of days left. I tried my hardest not to write a book, heh.... I think I was relatively successful in that task. I'm really pleased with the costumes, I just needed to attach the image to the email, yes? Or would it have been better to link to photobucket or something?

I did both. I put a picture attached to it and gave them a layout URL. For my updated picture, I mean. I would do the layout, though.

I just finished mine. I did some editing, so hopefully it turned out okay. Unfortunately, I have zero skills with drawing, painting, programming etc so I have no visual aids.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what other people do this year.

I think there are cerain key elemets in creating a fighting game characters that in my opinion the winner of this competition should posses.( in order from the most important to the least).

1.Appearance:

As vain as this may seem consider the following . You are seeing the character select screen for the first time.Which character do you pick? Of course you go for the one that best suits your style and generally looks like the biggest badass.Appearance should not be underrated ,most people would not bother even reading the story of a character that looks dull and boring, let alone learning how to master him in fighting.

2.Gameplay:

How a character holds up to the rest of the roster. What are their combo potentials , what are their strong and weak sides. A well-balanced character can become a lethal weapon in the hands of the dedicated player. (but as I said without liking the visual appearance of the character that dedication fades quickly)

3.Story:

There seems to be alot of weight given to the story of fictional characters in this competition. (or atleast in previous installements) Let's be honest, I love MK's story as much as the other guy,but fighting games shouldn't be played for their story alone. I agree a good story to an already good character can make him fantastic , but a bad story to a character that looks badass and plays like a BEAST wouldn't matter much to most hardcore fighting game players. For me story is like the icing on a cake , If you don't like it you can still scrape it off but the cake is still delicious regardless.( just like how midway did with mka)

December has been incredibly busy for me, so I don't think I will be able to participate this time. :(
It totally sucks, but I haven't had the time to just sit down, draw my character and write the submission. Damnit!

You've had the time to be on the computer apparently . . . but December is pretty busy, that's why i sent mine in VERY early, like maybe, the 3rd or 4th. I have always had an idea for . . . well, find out on January First.

It's only been sporadic when I've been online, and only for a few minutes at a time. :(

I think circumstances have dictated this, as much as anything.
Nobody can play the characters to get a feel for the mechanics, and not everyone will be able to visually represent their character, so it's, to some extent, the most equal playing field (building out of the basic character details). It's also probably the easiest, most natural thing to sink your teeth into in a text-dominated format.

Story, at least until recently, has also been one of MK's most attractive trademarks, so that probably explains the history of the contest. That's veering off into a whole other conversation, though.

The time is drawing near. Holidays have made things a bit hectic, it might take a little while to get everything in order. If you're struggling to get your entry done, make your intention clear and there might be a bit of time to sneak in after the December deadline.
