Shows how powerful judge votes are, I suppose. I may rethink the weight of votes in the future; for those wondering why it's done this way, it's because before this version the contest struggled along to get just 32 entrants over months. Judges were almost necessary to decide the prior 5 contests due to the lack of on site voter input. I had no clue this contest would be so popular this time around. It's in poor form to change the rules mid-contest, however.

Nirvana/Okorik was highly contested, so it isn't too shocking the judges could turn the tide on the match. The fact Adsler still nearly lost despite thoroughly dominating her match really surprised me, though.

That is why i thought nirvana would win and adsler to win no contest. Seeing that neither of that happen truly surprised me

Few notes:
- As noted in the prelims, Alexandra (while drawn beautifully) bears too much of a resemblance to Soul Calibur's Sophita. This could be forgiven if the lengthy backstory didn't contradict MK lore with Kahn's invasion. Kruor on the other hand had a more unique and better executed backstory and theme.
- Kain lacked ANY physical description. That was enough to rule him out for me. EDIT: Even when considering the technical issue with photobucket that Crow mentioned, Kain's concept is contradictory and underdeveloped. I like his match taunts and winpose however.
- Drakon's bio was entirely too long and specials were underdeveloped and lacked ingenuity. Tarek was my favorite of the group. Interesting concept, appearance, theme, and well executed.

You guys may have to ignore Kain's lack of description in your weighing. Just throwing that out there; the user submitted a handful of pictures but when I went to retrieve them from his photobucket, it was a privately locked account. I sent him a message about it, but never got a response unfortunately.

:(
Man that's gotta suck. Anyways, I'm still reading the characters right now and I'll edit this to post my results.
One question: WHY, WHY did you have to put Kruor and Alexandra up against each other so early??? Two of my favorites in the whole competition :(
Hmmm... I was completely indifferent in this round.
Reading about Kruor felt smooth, I think he was well planned at the very least. Many of these seem thrown together, Kruor did not.... Though he lacks a certain... vibrancy, so to speak.
I'm going to vote Kruor.... Reluctantly.
... Hmm... I spent time thinking about the first two while typing this that I forgot about the last ones. Back to square one!
You know what, I'm going to let my own memory decide my vote.
I do not remember some contestants and do not like some that I do remember.
Verdict:
Kruor

Same here. But of course we all have different biases. I do however think that in the sake of levity and fairness that GhostDragon and TonyTheTiger should explain the methods of their madness.

Ok, I'll start off with the easiest match.
Match 3: Terek by far. Easily one of the best character renders I've seen, so props to Keliac for being such a great artist. Interesting story, and he seems very fun to play as.
Drakon's story was just too unbelievable and it seemed to alter the canon quite a bit. His moves and design weren't that inspired either.
Match 2:
In my opinion, NEITHER of these characters deserve to see another round. I think they each should've been matched up with Kruor and Alexandra, then we'd have 3 GREAT characters moving on.
When I first saw Kain had NO physical description whatsoever, I thought it would be an automatic no. However, reading Crow's disclaimer, I gave him a chance. While the story didn't make much sense (why did the attack depend on him?), he did have a nice X-ray, two pretty good fatalities, and some nice gameplay potential.
Synder was just a little bland to me. His specials seem uninspired and marginally detailed. His ending was weak too. Also, his design was bland. Nothing good about him stands out at all. To be blunt, he's my least favorite character out of the 30 or so I've looked at.
So, grudgingly, I go with Kain
Match 1:
This was by far the toughest match so far. I really like both of these characters. Kruor definitely seems to be more unique as a whole, but he reminds me too much of a boss character. While this tournament didn't specifically say the character had to be a playable character, I would lean toward that implication. Of course, Kruor isn't actually designated as a boss, he just looks like one.
Alexandra on the other hand could totally be a playable character, and she is definitely something new for the MK franchise. There are similarities between her and Sophitia (and I guess Cassandra too) from Soul Calibur, but I feel she is still unique enough. While there are certainly questions regarding the plausibility of certain events in her story, I really like her role as Shao Kahn's confidant.
When it comes down to it though, one character seems to be a better fit in the MK universe than the other. Kruor is a vengeful blood-god with no qualms about fighting, while Alexandra supposedly only fights/kills when absolutely necessary (despite having gruesome fatalities), which is totally out of place in the MK world. So with that, I have to go with Kruor, a character who I think may just end up winning this all thing. Again, BOTH characters are great, and I wish they could both go through in place of either kombatant in match 2, but alas, those aren't the rules.
So to sum it up:
Match 1: Kruor
Match 2: Kain
Match 3: Terek

Ahh ok. I edited my post a bit, but my vote didn't change.
I noticed earlier that Chi Zong's costume descriptions are Akari's. Idk if Zong's creator didn't send any pics or descriptions or not, but the descriptions given are def. Akari's.
I also remember seeing something wrong with Nyctaro's page, but I don't remember what it was....I'm pretty sure it was an Akari leftover though.

My vote goes for:
Alexandra - although she does remind me of Cassandra/Sophitia I think she would be more unique to MK's universe. Kruor, although well put together, and rather unfortunate, I think he is too much like Skarlett.
Kain - I'll go with him because the bits about the cigarettes were funny.
Terek - hands down.
