You know what? I'll just give you what I have already and keep working on it. It's got some bits from the MK Plot faq as summary, sojme notes to myself, and... other stuff. It's kind of a jumble, but eh.

Setting: Earth, the Mother Realm. Burning bright with power, it's influence spawns echoes in other realms.

Flashback: to the original Kung Lao fighting Goro.
SHAOLIN TEMPLE, sunny day, exterior view. The dragon Logo is clearly visible.

Cut to: Goro's Eyes
Cut to: monk shouting. FIGHT!
They fight.
VO(during fight): Shang Tsung was defeated, but eventually returned with a powerful student, etc. etc.
Mortal Kombat was a Shaolin tournament held years ago in the name
of honor. But one year the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung brought his
apprentice, Prince Goro of the Shokan race to compete. He killed Kung
Lao, the reigning champion and plunged the tournament's good name into
darkness. Every tournament won by Goro meant the weakening of
Earthrealm's barriers. By "unbalancing the furies", Shang Tsung's lord
Shao Kahn would be able to invade Earthrealm and make it his own.
After a spectacular fight, Kung Lao loses to Goro
[Kung Lao is clad in a monk's orange garment, while Goro wears the armor of a prince]
Shang Tsung approaches Kungs Lao's body staring, at him and laughing.Finally he says YOUR SOUL IS MINE.
VO: Goro has been undefeated for 500 years.
1987
Kung Lao, last descendant of the original Kung Lao, the Chosen One, and the brightest hope for the Mother Realm cannot bear the pressure of expectations placed upon him. He leaves the monastery and goes to (Hong Kong or New York?) yeah, this'll take some more thought.
1992. I the same room, in the same temple, Liu Kang is training. It is the Temple of Light.
MASTER GUEN appears in the doorway, saying [in Chinese], Excellent. You have really improved, Liu
Liu Kang: Thanks to your training master Guen
Master Guen: Only few days left to the tournament. Do you think you are ready?
Liu Kang: I've been training all my life to compete in the tournament. I have been waiting for this opportunity since I was a child. Nothing will stop me from winning MORTAL KOMBAT!. Liu Kang bows to his master and leaves for the big city. While he looks alone Master Guen says : Do you think he is ready? RAYDEN appears behind Master Guen and says Believe me old friend, he is, his eyes flashing.
::Then the story goes to California, Hollywood, showing a fight between jhonny cage and some people (kinda like the movie) then after a short fight, it shows that he is only acting in a movie. Then someone came to cage saying that somebody left him something a strange letter he then read it : to the matial artist Johnny cage, it is with great honor that I inform you that you have been chosen to compete in the great tournament .etc then Johnny cge in a funny way says great what? Chosen? What kind of a sick joke is this he then hears a voice behind him : the great tournament, the contest that is held once in a generation, mortal kombat johnny it turn up to be a cage old friend (basically like the movie I really liked the idea) after explaining that the tournament will be johnnys opportunity to prove to the public that his fights are not fake, the guy left the studio and his shape starts to change and turn up to be chang tsung and then disappear. ::
I think maybe Johnny should get a ~mysterious~ letter promising glory and publicity, and a fight for the title of Freestyle World Champion. He covinces his agent, who (obviously) can't get any information on the tournament, that it's a good idea. "It must be legit - look at this expensive paper!". Packing his flashiest fighting clothes and a HANDHELD VIDEO CAMERA, he leaves for San Francisco in his PONTIAC BANSHEE.
Note: Cage will frequently use the camera to document his voctories in the tournament and make smarmy comments, all the while flashing a million-dollar-smile.
Cut to: China in the deep Forest. A temple that has been hidden for centuries: the LIN KUEI temple
The Lin Kuei are a guild of assassins for hire. They combine traditional chi techniques with hi-tech weaponry and gadgets. A client has posted a hit on Shang Tsung (Do you think it could be Kenshi?)
Story Arc 1 MORTAL KOMBAT: THE LAST TOURNAMENT
The Black Dragon is wreaking havoc in the San Francisco(?) bay area, Their destruction is interrupted by the arrival of the USSF. A multiple car chase and gunfight ensues. Kano is separated from the group and starts to run on foot. Weaving around corners, he trips and lands at the feet of a dark and mysterious old man [Tsung] who offers him sanctuary aboard a barge about to leave for parts unknown.
After a furious search, Sonya and co. fail to catch up to the barge, but manage to shoot a tracking device. They retreat to HQ to ready their own boats*. The island could be the stage for an even bigger bust!
Note: The barge should be HUGE
On Tsung's barge, Kang takes pity on the clueless Cage, who believes he's in for a standard, if eccentric tournament. During the week of travel he teaches Cage some rudimentary chi manipulation techniques. This is where Cage learns the SHADOW KICK and POWER BALL. This must be portrayed from Cage's POV. He meets a weird stranger who claims to have superpowers. Stranger still, his claims are true. He tells Cage that all the kombatants are similarly armed! They spend the next couple of days training.
The barge arives at the island, along with several others. The kombatants are given a warm welcome. Accomodation in a palace, a feast, dancing girls...
Note: Never show the size of the island.
Sonya and her team show up hours later, thinking they are unnoticed
Cage later befriends Sonya after she is captured and thrust into the banquet hall. Most of her weapons have been confiscated, but they have not recognized her bracelets for their offensive power: they are portable concentrated sonic beam emitters, and she will put them to good use against the freakish abilities of her opponents.
Lt. Blade, lacking anything better to do, sits down to eat with Cage and Kang.

The tournament begins the next day.
Scorpion catches up to Sub Zero and defeats him in a dramatic and ostentatious finish - 2 page spread! a painting? This should be the third most impressive scene in the komic! Immediately after, Scorpion faded to ash. He had no reason to face Goro or Shang Tsung. His duty was fulfilled.
An extra must fall into the pit
Sonya is summoned for her match. A stunned and furious Kano is thrust into the arena. They fight. Sonya wins by knockout. Tsung is furious, and has the two of them chained and imprisoned. They are not seen until the finale.
Note: Bo Rai Cho first appears on the Island as a spectator, and secretly helps Liu Kang during the tournament
Liu Kang vs. Goro: Liu Kang believed that he could use Goro's
overconfidence to secure a victory. Luckily for him and the people of
Earthrealm, he did win.
Liu Kang vs. Shang Tsung: Despite Shang Tsung's ability to morph and use
the abilities of other warriors, he still fell to the might of the
Shaolin fighter Liu Kang.

Goro vs. Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade and Kano: This is according to the MK2
comic. The four of them fought at the Pit and the three humans were likely
going to win in the end. But the crumbling of the island separated them and
Raiden could only find Johnny Cage. He flew the movie star away from the
island and dropped him off near a Special Forces boat. Sonya and Kano
found themselves in the forests of Outworld and Goro's whereabouts were
unknown.

The Deafeated Shang Tsung flees, taking Sonya Blade and Kano with him, under guard. He causes part of the island to explode, killing any survivors.
Kang and Cage commandeer a barge and sail it to mainland China.
