I thought you liked MKA?

As for me, I think it's so terrible, so disgusting and so crapful, it's actually funny at times.

The movie was like someone took a fanmade power rangers episode and through it in a pile of garbage & dog shit, then stuck a mortal kombat sticker on it. Nobody who thinks it's a good movie can give a legitimate reason why other than they are "9 years old and think it rocks!"

Yes MKA not only looked like a stupid power ranger ripoff, it looked like a poor excuse to make money. Of course 9 years olds like it because the movie looked like it was aiming towards audiences under the age of 11! That is so stupid how you've got this grusome and gory video game that aims towards mature audiences than it gets made into a low budget movie aiming towards little kids. It just doesn't go together!

Do any of you agree MKA looked like it was rushed!?

Do any of you agree MKA should've been released straight to video?

It should never have gotten released, and anybody associated with the film should have gotten arrested.

Absolutely, but that's only the start of a very long list of problems.

Good point. I was only asking that b/c I've been thinking it should've gotten released straight to video b/c it looked like a low budget film. If it had gotten released on video it probably wouldn't be getting bashed as much as it is. It probably wouldn't be in the bottom 100 on imdb. Did you know most low budget films get released straight to video?

I think the only reason a MK3 movie might get released straight to DVD is b/c it may not look better than MKA. B/c it'll just be a low budget film again.

MKA looking rushed was probably the main reason why it was a failure.

I'm gonna give some reasons why I could tell it was rushed. At the same time it looked like they were to lazy to do things that should've been done.

Why it looked rushed... Throwing in so many characters for 2 minutes was not the only reason why.
-The script sounded like it wasn't proof read.
-When it first showed Kahn without his mask on, how were you suppst to know that was him right away???
-During Liu Kang's dream, how did he know what Kahn looked like unmasked when he hadn't seen him unmasked before???
-Earlier Rayden said Kang would meet Nightwolf at the Hobe Mesa. A mesa is not a desert! It's a flat rocky surface!
-The editing and direction was terrible.
-The Baraka make-up looked like something a kid designed for a school project.
-Sheeva and Motaro (unlike Goro) looked way too human to be threatening monsters.
-The special effects were cheesy and cartoonish.
-The final animality fight between Kang an Kahn looked like an old Godzilla ripoff!

These are the many things they were obviously too lazy to do...
They were too lazy to hire a black actress to play Jade, to get Sandra Hess to look like Bridgette Wilson, to make Jax's arms bionic implants, to give Sindel white hair, to keep Shao Kahn's mask on, to get Shinnok to look close to teh way he does in MK4, and to have Kahn look the way he did at the end of the first one.

I'd like to know what the hell they were thinking behind this piece of s***!
I remember the part where Kitana says, "How could the elder gods allow this?" Well that makes me wanna ask, "Where was God while this movie was being made?"

Why do people say the film makers learned from their mistake? When there's no evidence to show that. The only way they can prove that is if they can get a third movie to look really outstanding compared to MKA (and probably MK1 too).

And what kind of a line is, "You belong behind bars in a zoo!" "If those bars could keep me away from you, Sheeva, I welcome them!"

Big insult.

I agree with what you said, EXCEPT threshold DID prove they can make MK3 great; They did that with MK Conquest, which was highly praised by MK fans for reviving what made the first film so great, and staying away from nearly everything that sucked about MKA.

Conquest was a ripoff of the TV shows Hercules and Xena, so I would not see an MK3 movie like that. The first one was like a real movie, what followed after in all formats were just lame writing.

I can't even begin to describe how MKC was not a rip-off.

I can on how it was.. Running around in old times, with a bunch of half-naked warrior women having reoccuring roles. As well as having the main character embark on mystical quests for whatever ridiculous reason.

MK Conquest was a bit too similar to Hercules and Xena. But that's not what I found wrong with it. I didn't like how most of the women were always half naked. They also didn't have enough Asian actors/characters in it. Mortal Kombat is suppost to be oriental involving mostly characters that look Asian. But all in all it was a nicely made tv show. That show doesn't tell me they learned from their mistake though.

I forgot to mention that another major problem with MKA was... The movie looked Americanized. There were certain characters being played by white actors but they should've been played by Asian actors. It's like just b/c Rayden was played by a white actor in MK1 didn't mean the other immortal characters had to be played by white actors too. God what were they thinking? The movie didn't look oriental at all. Anyone agree?

MKAnnihilation was one of the biggest and most tragic messes to everbe released as a movie! They should never have released it! It was basically like they didn't care how bad it was and thought the MK fans would love it regardless!

Exactly! The sad part is, some people actually do like the movie, just because it has red ninjas, purple ninjas and their favorite characters. When I was in the theater hating it, I can't help but remember there was like some 15 year old behind me and everytime some stupid ninja jumped on screen(or robot)he would shout, "Yeeeeaaahhh!" I remember thinking if there are people that have this reaction to the movie, then they deserve the crap they are getting and the studios will continue to just put out shit. I still think Threshold bares some responsibility, I mean, Conquest wasn't that different than Annihilation. Also, notice their polls for the 3rd movie. Who do you like, what don't you like? Who's your favorite? Who do you want to die etc.. etc.. I believe they are completely clueless as to what went wrong with Annihilation and were desperately trying to fix the problem. It seemed like that they thought, "I thought we put in all their favorite characters from the 3 and 4 games, well what went wrong? I know! Why don't we go to the source ask them what characters we should put in the 3rd and who their favorites are, that's a sure fire blockbuster!" I'm sorry, but you don't make a good movie by picking out a everyone's favorite and then developing a story around that, you make the story and see who fits as you go along.

The sad part is some people like the movie???

That is simply stupid. What IF there are some that liked the movie, don’t they have their own opinions? Besides, maybe they aren’t like you that only focus on all the negative stuff MKA had.

Sure the movie sucked, it was terrible! But after watching it over and over again (both movies), the first one gets you bored! The second film has non-stop action that keeps you entertained!

Don’t get me wrong though, the first movie is simply the best. I love it. The second movie sucked terribly, but it did had great things like the fights and excellent music.

If you don’t believe me, check in the “Can you name something positive about MKA?” post.
