Other costumes were cool... Jax's Arms look awesome. Kahn's costume was pretty cool... I thought...
And the biggest thing of all... THE SOUNDTRACK!!!

Kahn's costume was alright, but the MKC one was much better IMO. I also agree about Jax's metallic arms.

I also liked Mileena's costume; It would have been perfect if it were more purple than pink, but it was VERY faithful to her character; Her personallity, even with her limited screen time, was spot on; She showed she's a phychotic bitch with her 30 seconds of screentime, which is really impressive (props to Dana Hee for nailing that role, she's VERY talented... hope to see her in MK3.)

Sorry buddy, but I think that Liu Kang's animality was the worst thing about the movie... I'll tell you why... Liu Kang is from Shaolin Temples in China... but the dragon he turned into didn't look chinese at all, it looked more like a dragon in Medival movies where a brave knight on a white stallion would come and slay him with his sword...

-The way the reptiles acted in that cave playing peekaboo from behind the pillars... I thought that was very animal like.

Well in case you hadn't noticed no one claimed the story was any good everyone here knows it was pathetic. There was an older thread about what was wrong with MKA and my list of bad things was about four times longer then my good list.

-good end sequence (i dunno it got me pretty pumped up when that elder god dude said "the fate of the universe will be decided as it should be" and then the awesome mk score came on so i guess it was pretty cool).

You know what? The biggest mistake was the ending of MK1, if Shao Kahn hadn't showed up at the end, and the kids weren't all running, then they could have pursued the game sotryline and have Liu Kang show up at his home with everyone dead... The point is, that they could have made a better movie if they didn't end MK1 the way they did...

mk1 had one of the best endings ive ever seen imo. hell its one of the best movies ive ever seen. its not mk1's fault the least bit. if they hadn't handed the film to a terrible director and gave the story to some crackhead who's probably never played the game then the movie would have been something. unfortunatly like all producers Lawrence Kasanoff is a greedy bastard who doesent care for the franchise and as long as it makes dough thats all that matters to him. well guess what kasnoff; it flopped u prick! let's just hope for his sake that hes learned from his errors.

Not necessarily; The ending pretty much showed that there will be a sequel and that Kahn would be the villian; It didn't *have* to take place immediately at the Temple...

Just like 'I know what u did last summer'. the ending left it open for a sequel, but it didn't follow the ending where she gets dragged out.

Reptilewins, one of the writers of MKA was John Tobias...

im pretty sure ive read somewhere that he was only the story consultent. he wouldn't allow the whole raiden is shinnoks son shit. i believe boon and tobias were consultents to the first film but they werent mentioned on the credits.

I'm not dissing MK1, I agree, one of the best movies ever. But Still, I'm just saying that the ending didn't allow the sequel to go in any other direction... Other than an invasion... I mean, they still could have made a better movie, but I would've liked to see an MK2 movie that's based on MK2 game...

well subzero13 i dont think it would be too fun to see ANOTHER tournament. thats too repetitive. we needed an invasion. one that shouldve been executed MUCH better. perhaps it wasnt the writers fault. but rather the directors. i mean we didn't see the full story(shinnok and quan at the end and the fight scnes they cut from the film) and the editing was incredibly terrible. one of the worst films in the editing department. i guess what im tryng to say is it's the director and producers fault. maybe the editors too. the story wasn't bad. it was the dialouge that troubled me. its overall a bad filmd with a few exceptions.

I hate it when they make a movie based on a video game, and some of the coolest characters only make Cameos, not that I think Mightwolf is cool, I'm actually talking about Sheeva... But I'm sure, if they could do it over again, they would... I mean, it's been like 7 years, and people are still bashing MKA...

Wow, deja vu... I made this EXACT post 3 years ago on here, haha.

Except mine was a top-10 elements to the movie list.

So I'll work from memory ...

1 - Shao Khan's costume when MASKED was cool. Other than that he was a total tool. Interestingly he stars opposite Mortal Kombat Conquest star, Daniel Bernhardt in Perfect Target.

2 - That big claw/tree thing that rose beneath Johnny's body was pretty cool and creepy.

3 - Mileena (sexy Dana Hee from MK:C) was blessed with the only other cool costume in the movie. Of course how she was confused for Kitanna completely boggles my mind. In the game, sure, but not in this movie.

4 - The implementation of the music (Alien Factory 'Higher') when Sindel appears with the 3 Zaterran warriors - terrible song as a whole, but the intro worked well with that scene.

5 - The extermination squads were pretty awesome, especially the horse-riders in the kreepy white masks.

6 - Lived up the standard of the MK3/UMK3/MKT that it based itself off... it was just as crap as they were.

7 - From the moment the movie was released, even before you saw the film it didn't lie about its quality... the tagline was "destroy all expectations" - i did, I expected it to be good.

8 - er... hmmmm... that's it, I cant think of anything else.

Absolutely terribly movie. I'm a dedicated watcher of appalling b-movies, 'antitainment' if you like... but this was bad even for my standards.

for all we know those characters might have played very big parts in the story but the run time was too long and, as usual, the money laundering studios cut it out of the film.
