Many of you will have already seen my casting for a movie based on Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. A misunderstanding saw the post deleted, but I've since sorted it out, and will simply post it again.

MK:DA Casting Call
I'd appreciate any feedback and discussion on the matter, even if you responded to the previous thread. I'm very interested in the topic.

Many thanks gang!

As I have said in your previous thread, you have done an astounding job in choosing the cast for MK. However I still disagree with your choice for Kitana as I had high respect for Talisa Soto and her abilty with the role.

I also disagree with your casting choice for Sonya. I never really did like Hess too much, but Bridgette has one a place in my heart as doing a great job at, in the very least, portraying Sonya's attitude and self-reliance.

Writing definitely let Hess down. Sonya's character went from being over the top independent in the first film, to being a whiney, self absorbed woman hung up on Johnny Cage's death.

I really didn't like that turn around, but with the right treatment, I'd definitely prefer Hess. While Bridgette Wilson-Sampras really had the attitude, she didn't look particularly athletic to me. You could quite easily see she wasn't comfortable with throwing even simple punches.

As for Soto, well, I keep saying it. She was just too plain, and I don't think she was much of a casting choice matching against the character. Kelly Hu looked great in X-Men 2, and could easily slip into the purple to fill the role. I've noticed depending on make up she can look less Asian at times. I think she looked appropriately Asian in X2, which would work for Kitana in an MKDA film. She's very beautiful, as the princess should be.

Talisa Soto looked the part IMO but Kitana should be a great fighter (or look like it anyway) and I don't think Talisa Soto is that.
By the way your casting call looks pretty good.

I like your casting call, but I still think that Sub-Zero should be played by Tommy Lee Jones... Don't get me wrong, Daniel Bernhardt is da man! I'm sure he'd play a great part, but I think TLJ fits more facial wise and age wise... But, hey, it's not my call, right?

There's no way Tommy Lee Jones could carry the role physically, and second of all, I don't see any physical resemblence between the two.

Now, I've heard some rumors that somewhere in the Krypt of MKDA it says Sub-Zero sacrificed age for power. I've seen nothing to suggest that, I'm still under the impression his hightened powers have made him look appropriately colder. To the point where he has frost on, and around him.

So, I think the chisled features of Bernhardt fit the bill better. Particularly taking into account his ability to fill the physicality the role would demand. He's a little less boy-ish than Cooke too, which is something I'd like to see, regardless of the visuals in the game.

Sub Zero still looks significantly older, I guess with a little makeup, Bernhardt can look a lot like Sub Zero from MKDA... I understand that TLJ can't carry out the role physically, but I still think that there is a great facial resemblence.

Older? I still say colder, and a little more chisled and distinct. Which is why the square features of Bernhardt made the grade in my eyes.

Bernhardt's voice would just sound TERRIBLE though.

kevin nash as kahn wouldn't work out to well seeing as how injured nash is in the legs. That and Nash isn't exactly built anymore. That would make a rickety beer belly kahn with a truckers voice. At first I didn't like your choice for kitana but now that I think about it I'm kinda divided. I think kano should stay dead since they can't get the original actor back since he's deceased. Ray park just doesn't seem gruff enough.

Kelly Hu can't be Kitana. Kitana isn't even Chinese. Kelly Hu would be more fit for a Li Mei, since Li Mei even looks like Kelly Hu.

Pfffft - marks! Useless!
It's movies, the guy could manage doing a few takes of sitting in a throne, before his helmet falls off while he's out of shot.

Meanwhile, I see your point - but Kano's become too interesting an element of the story to leave out. Who knows how much of a role he'll have in MK6. I was casting MKDA, I left out some useless elements, but I made a call - and leaving Kano out wasn't an option!

As for Kelly Hu, I can't stress enough - look at her in X-Men 2. Sometimes with makeup or lighting, her Asian heritage is toned down. She has quite a diverse gene pool you see. If it's taken advantage of, she's a great Kitana!

EDIT: Born-again-vampire, yes, I've been banned. Hopefully you'll stop in here to see this. Since you don't have an e-mail or website in your profile I can't contact you. [Can't PM, although, at least I can edit]

Lol, I mean Li Mei's character select screen image. Not her in game look. Her in game look looks like Michael Jackson or maybe Sally Struthers. But on the character selec screen, in her alternate outfit she looks like Kelly Hu.

suuuurrrrreee, I'm the mark wink*cough, then by that way of filming I'd rather see an actual built kahn actor so that you could show more than that. Hell maybe even during story telling show a little fisti cuffs here and there. Sometimes a no name actor can sometimes fit the bill better.

Yeah, too bad he's already playing Nappa in the DragonBall Z movie thats being released this year. Btw, the cast has already been finalized, almost everyone from the first movie is in this one.

by the way, the guy that played cyrax was j.j perry's stuntman, buster reeves.
ive read it in my magazine at home, and you can tell j.j perry didnt play cyrax...just compare the physiques of scorpion and cyrax.

cyrax is somewhat shorter and wider, whilst scorpion, is tall and slim
