I really liked this chapter. Johnny Cage being dad of the year, Scorpion having a sense of humor, ("People like to say they've been to hell and back, I know the way by heart." *smiles*) more inclusions and mentions of 3d characters, closure for Havik, Molock, and Dramin. I would say rest and peace, but that's not really appropriate for those characters lol.

I love how they integrated Kung Jin in both the comic and story mode. Although I wonder how he single handedly aquired that usb.

Damn, another 3 bite the dust. Oh well, the mention of the source of the blood magic was a nice surprise though.

I like these comics And I really like how they are just cleaning up the shitty 3d era characters that no one wants to see again. Hopefully The comics will stop a lot of speculation on the roster of the next game by cleaning up so many useless characters!!!!

I enjoyed the Briggs as well as Cage family shots. Good stuff there.

Once again Quan Chi is the mastermind behind it all. No surprise there. And why did they call it the Reiko accord? Havik was the real threat after all.

My only gripe with this issue is there was no mention of what happened to the Outworld characters. Except for D'Vorah being enticed by the amulet. But no mention of Kotal Kahn, Ermac, Mileena, Erron Black, or Sheeva.

It was cool to finally see Kung Lao.

Yeah.. As soon as he appeared in the comic I knew he was done for.

Not much to say on this chapter, tied up all loose ends and was nicely done. I still wish that Havik and Reiko didn't get shit on but it's whatever. If they want them to be back for next game, they will be. If not, I guess they're gone forever. Oh, and the art was fucking awful. these eyes tho lol

Between Jacqui, Johnny and Scorpion I don't know who looked the most unsettling and creepy.

The only negative thing about this chapter was the art. The netherrealm scenea were great. Anything else was creepy as fuck.

I like how Havik was still talking shit even while facing death.

Quan Chi hiring Havik made sense. He's weak without Shinnok so he couldn't do it himself. Using Reiko probably was his idea too.

Of course using blood to get stronger would have been Nitara's thing. We were tricked with Skarlet's appearance.

I liked the scenes with Jacqui and Cassie. It's the genesis of their badassness.

Nice scene with Kung Jin. The dialogue about his heart felt a bit forced but it was fun to see him blow off Bo Rai Cho.

I hope Cyrax makes it out alive. Then we can see Sub-Zero and Sonya exchanging him and Frost.

Then put Cyrax in MKX and claim he was on a secret mission during.the events of MKX or something.

Of course that's the kind of untrained teenage girl you want to give a gun to! I'm sure she'll have full responsibility with it and not fool around, showing it off to her friends and accidently shoot one of them!

To be fair the art went downhill a while ago. I just suffer through it and try to enjoy the actual story.

one of the artist sure do like making Takeda look ape-like.

they use two different artists for various issues and i think its a bad idea to have inconsistent art. but i guess it cuts time in a way to have two people.

I have a theory behind the blood magik.

Nitara from Deadly Alliance is of course NOT an evil character. She is Neutral like Scorpion or Erron Black. The fact that she's a blood drinking Moroi (motif of the vampire) is because it's her race's primary diet and without it, their race would have died long ago. The main motive that every "MK loreist" should know is that she wants to restore her realm of Vaterrenus. Even though it's a repeated cliché with Tanya and Reptile, it's not an evil motive. Plus her race was nearly exterminated by Shao Kahn so having someone who hates him and his associates with a bloody grudge would be a valuable ally for the good guys. I could see why no Moroi were seen in Shao Kahn's court. They were probably of the most dangerous enemies that Kahn had ever conquered and he might have lost thousands of his men to these bloodsucking vampires. This, in turn probably made Kahn say, "Fuck it. They're better off dead than being in my court, waiting for the moment to sink their fangs in my throat while I'm sleeping." In other words, Kahn and Outworld was scared shitless of the Moroi Empire.

Back to the topic, Nitara would have NEVER given her Blood Magik for free unless Quan Chi made an EXCHANGE with her. In Deadly Alliance, she's no stranger to this when she instructs Cyrax to retrieve the orb that contains Vaterrenus in a lava pit in exchange for opening a portal for Cyrax to return to Earthrealm. SHE KEEPS HER SIDE OF THE BARGAIN. I think we see so many characters make deals and yet backstab constantly so much that it becomes a tired cliché. Here we can have a neutral manipulator who surprisingly keeps their promises.

In order for this deal to work, Quan Chi would have to give Nitara something VALUBLE to persuade her to lend him her Blood Magik. Her dream gift would have of course be Shao Kahn's decapitated head, but that won't work now that Shao Kahn is dead. Maybe Quan Chi does give her the ORB to her realm or a map to the location of the orb within the lava pit. That would have sparked Nitara's interest and made her concede with dealing with Quan Chi even though she knows he's an evil bastard and he'll somewhat fuck with her gift. Maybe Nitara makes up for her mistakes and uses her necklace that opens portals all over Earthrealm to at least reverse the damage. That might explains why Sub-Zero and Shujinko/monks didn't join the final battle and were unpossessed because Nitara was reversing the blood magik spell hidden in the background. It might also explain the wearing off of the blood magik on the champions in the final battle after Kintaro's head was pulled off. Since Havik being a non-Moroi user didn't know how to undo the control over the champions with the magik, Nitara would have been better knowledgeable at the technique. A non-Moroi using Blood Magik would have fatal results, explaining Reiko's fall.

The panel of Johnny talking to Cassie about him and her having a "father/daughter" moment couldn't have looked any creepier than it did.

Take away the text, and you'll have it raising some eyebrows.

What happens when someone dies in the Netherrealm? Souls can't stop existing. Are they reborn in a different part of the Netherrealm?

Has anyone asked the writers this?

LOL Moloch and Drahmin just continuously die by being Quan Chi's punching bags and are constantly teleported around the Netherrealm for all eternity. Hahahaha. Hilarious vision of that in my head.

I really think you're looking into it way too much. This is a new timeline. They can retcon, re-write, re-think and do whatever they want with the old characters, including doing things that would be out of character in the old timeline.

I have to agree about this chapter. I really wasn't expecting to like it after the last one, but it surprised me in how it wrapped things up.

About Havik, I would have liked it better if he was doing all that on his own, as I put Havik on the same level as Quan Chi in terms of manipulative ability, so him working for Quan is kind of a let down to me. (Though I guess you could say Havik and Quan were partners, and Havik double crossed him. IDK.)

I agree with you on Cyrax too. I hope he survives, but I really think the hopes of that are very low.

I like your theory, and agree that Nitara wouldn't have made a deal with Quan Chi unless she was getting something lucrative out of it. But I really disagree with Nitara being there I the background, undoing "mistakes" that her blood magik caused, and there are some (somewhat) holes in your overall account.

We already know that Havik was in control of the Blood Magik, thus we can assume that when he was transported away from the battle field, the magik wore off. Without Havik's corruptive force / energy, the Blood Magik's influence is non-existent.

And though Nitara can traverse the realms as she sees fit, she seemingly made a deal with Quan Chi, most likely in Outworld. How would she have known that Quan made a deal with Havik, and that Havik traveled to Shang Tsung's Island via Earth's portals? In order to make you theory work, you have to assume too much IMO.

A couple more holes...

- How does Kotal know about Blood Magik?
- Why does Kotal attribute Blood Magik to the "old gods"? (Is he talking about Vampires you think?)

I don't really see Havik as a mastermind, but more as a smart, yet crazy individual.

It probably went like this...

Quan Chi : "Hey Havik, wanna wreck shit up and help me bring back Shinnok? It's gonna create chaos and stuff"

Havik : "Fuck yeah!"

lol! Maybe.

But Havik is a Mastermind, just look at his MK Deception Story. He manipulated, or was at least trying to manipulate, a lot in that game, all by himself. He's not just a thug for hire, he actually has well thought out goals, and succeeds at them.

I have to mention though, that in MK Armageddon, he was seemingly being used by Shinnok in his master plan, but at the same time we really don't know if that was Havik himself, or an apparition of Shinnok's making.

In case you guys didn't know, in the synopsis for the final chapter it says "In the final chapter of Mortal Kombat X, Sub-Zero attempts to end the cyber threat once and for all...and a surprising ally joins his cause."

... Cyrax?
