Those actually very good points aside, Jet Li gives off a cold nature. Almost Evil. The facial thisthingisdisableds he makes, and also the simple fact of association, make me think he is a total opposite to Kung Lao's character. Kung Lao is warm, caring, gentle, all that nice stuff because he's a monk. Jet Li doesn't give that aura off, primarily because he can't act. *nods*

May I suggest Donnie Yen for Kung Lao. You can just see him as Kung Lao. Who else would be better for that role than him????

Jet Li should play a ninja, so that we don't see his face and they shouldn't give him any lines, he'll be a great asset that way.

it seems like a cliche to use jet li as an asian person that knows karate in every movie he is in. maybe someone else like chow yung fat..

The only way to cast Kung Lao nicely is to find an unknown kung fu fighter suitable for the role. Jet is not tall enough to play Kung Lao either.

I just think that Jet Li doesn't fit the part of Kung Lao. Even though he's a great martial arts/actor...he just doesn't make me say "That's Kung Lao." He just doesn't.

Speaking of asian actors, who else thinks Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa should be back?

Well, I don't think, but if they're up to him, I'm not against.
Besides, did anybody notice that by now, Kung Lao was only played by Latino actors? (Anthony Marquez in the games, and Paolo Montalban in the TV series)

However, both of them look very Asian... that's all that matters.

I'll go with Donnie Yen. Jet Li is a no talent (aside from fighting) overexposed actor and Cho Yun Fat is too old and doughy. Donnie's got the goods.
I quite like Jet Li's movies and his fighting style, but his height just doesn't fit with any MK character. Yeah, and bring back Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang. Chow Yun Fat would be good as Kung Lao, as would the guy from Conquest.. but maybe a fresh face?

Oh Hell Yes. Even though he doesn't resemble any version of Shang Tsung, he played his part brilliantly. His strength was not in character resemblance but in great acting and making the audience believe he was evil. "Treasure these moments...as if they were your last!" Timeless.
Replacing him would be a huge mistake.
Sadly there will be no return for Goddard (Kano.) Who could replace his performance?

I think the perfect replacement would be Jason Statham from The Transporter. Speaking of Jet Li, he starred in a movie with him. I believe it was called The One.
Anyway, here is a pic I edited with Microsoft Paint, it is a shitty red eye but it works, I could definatley see this guy as Kano.
