Ok, then I am done... since Deadly Alliance will again be used to counter these facts I have already presented:

MKII sells over $50 million (calculated about 833,000 units if you divide $50 million by $60) in its first week according to Billboard - http://books.google.com/books?id=uAsEAAAAMBAJ&pg;=PA53&dq;=acclaim+mortal+kombat+ii+intitle:billboard&hl;=en&ei;=6lw_TZ_ZFIO78gbctfD7Aw&sa;=X&oi;=book_result&ct;=result&resnum;=2&ved;=0CCwQ6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q;=acclaim%20mortal%20kombat%20ii%20intitle%3Abillboard&f;=false

MK Deadly Alliance sells $2 million... in its first 6 months - http://games.ign.com/articles/427/427688p1.html

^ That spells just over 33,333 units if you do the math (I used $60 again).

I am done. Goodbye.

So if I understand your logic, if something in a series sells less than something else, it means that series is dead. Even if said series continues to release product for several years.

I question if you thought this through.

First of all, all that matters is the profit. As long as MK brings in more money than is spent making the game, which it does by far, it's a success. It's not dying until it costs more to make the game than it brings in. That's not likely to happen, because even though it's not as popular as it once was, it's still a popular franchise with a big fanbase.

Speaking of popular...You have to understand that the reason the newer games don't quite do what they once did, is simply because it's the age of the FPS. First Person Shooters are the most marketable right now. Games like Halo and COD are juggernauts right now. In the early to mid 90's, fighting games in the arcades were a big thing. Thus, when they came out on consoles, people ate them up right away. Nobody had seen anything like MK back then, it's the whole reason for the ESRB rating. So to compare that to now is just ridiculous. Just because MK is no longer paving the way or a AAA title, does not make it a dying franchise. MK is just fine, and with it's new home at WB, it's gonna do better than ever.

Darn, I was so looking forward to seeing the rest of MKRebirth.

Oh well, hopefully the web series will be great too.

I hope they get Jet Li to play Liu Kang. Liu Kang would be so badass if he was played by Jet Li. I would also love for Mark Dacascos to play Kung Lao. An underrated badass.

As for the plot. It shouldn't just be all about the effects. Yes I would love to see blood and gore, but at the same time character developement and deph. I would like for the first season to revolve around Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya, and the mentor Raiden but at the same time give deph to them and Kano, Scorpion, Sub Zero, and hell even Reptile, Goro and Shang Tsung. You know what, make Reptile a mysterous character. Make the characters what they were in the games. Make Shang Tsung a sorcerer, make Reptile and reptilian, and make Scorpion a dead specter that wants revenge.

I would hate it if it is all about blood and gore. That's what the games are for, I want to see good acting combined with nice plot and characterization. Follow the first game plot as much as a movie follows a book faithfully and yet at the sametime does it differently. It doesn't exactly have to be like the first game plot. Just have the idea of it. Scorpion kills Sub Zero, Liu Kang beats Goro, and beats Shang Tsung.

One more thing, I would love for it to incoporate the Mortal Kombat Conquest atmosphere.

Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade is absolutely EPIC!!!!!

I. Can't. Wait. (though she wasn't necessarily my top choice for Sonya...can she fight?).

Did she do some physical stuff in Star Trek?

I never really watched Voyager, but I seem to vaguely remember an episode where her character fought The Rock in an alien gladiator ring for some reason. Could've been a stunt double instead of Ryan, though.

She's gorgeous and a great actress, but, I don't know if she has what it takes to kick butt and be leg-grabbing people around.

Who knows, she might be well trained and do a much better job than Bridgette Wilson did (who was absolutely perfect as Sonya but did not have enough training for fights).

Jeri Ryan seems to be great, but, I wonder if a more athletic (and perhaps younger actress) should be portraying Sonya? How old is she?

I agree... her age worries me a little when it comes to her physical abilities... but a younger actress might not be a fix. Sonya should be stunningly beautiful, yes. But she has to have some age to make her character believable as far as her rank and wisdom is concerned.

I'll take almost anything over that lack luster actress Sandra Hess. Bridgette Wilson did an okay job...

Mrs.Ryan is in her early 40's I think, but to me she doesn't look young for her age. When I hear early 40's I'm thinking "I thought she was older". I'd be more pissed that they hired someone in their 40's to play Sonya if the rest of this series was even remotely canon.

I'm suspecting Rebirth Sonya isn't much more than a desk job character.

I mean one presumes, if her and Jax had to hire someone else to go to the tournament and kill all the criminals they're after, that means neither of them are up to the task of doing it themselves.

Assuming of course that the fanfilm is even gonna be canon to the web series, which we don't actually know.
If Jeri Ryan is Sonya, theres no way shes doing anything more than typical police / detective / desk work. The most physical thing she will do is probably chase down a suspect yelling GET ON THE GROUND!!

I agree, her age worries me too.

I don't want to see Sonya doing only the brain work. I want her out there throwing punches, high kicks, and doing a couple of cartwheels and leg grabs in the process.

I disagree about Sandra Hess, though. I thought she was great! Sure, it was annoying to see the actress so super changed (100% different in everything), but her fighting abilities were very very good. Her acting was not bad either. Wilson was missed, for sure, but, Sandra made up for the lack of "attitude" (and Wilson's dramatic eye brows) by fighting well.

PS: Awesome AWESOME Signature!!! grin I love it (I'll be updating mine soon *wink wink*

I like her and I don't think she looks older, however, I'm a bit disconcerted that an older actress (instead of younger one) is to play the role of Sonya.

Still excited, though.

Now I'm confused as hell. These are supposedly webisodes that delve into the origins of the characters, yet they cast a 40-year-old to play Sonya. Nothing against Jerri, I mean, I would totally hit that, but I'm pretty sure Sonya didn't start out in her 40's... now I'm concerned about what's going on with these series, I thought I had it figured out after that last press release.

Queve, what do you think of Demi Moore reprising her role of G.I. Jane for Sonya in Rebirth? Imagine camo fatigues, bulletproof vest, strapped to the teeth and hell even a buzz cut would totally take Sonya's character to a whole new level. Also, lets remember, G.I. Jane is a Navy Seal not to far from the Green Beret Sonya is.

In her 40s or not, Jeri Ryan is still a better actress than anyone that's played Sonya before. I wouldn't worry too much about, RDJ is older than dirt and is playing Tony Stark and a more physical Sherlock Holmes.

That's like the opposite of the case here considering Downey looks exceptionally spry for his age.

Sonya's slightly against type, Scorpion's probably gonna have a goatee in his former life... Based on the games, or something entirely different, I think it's safe to say an anthology of ten digitally distributed shorts doesn't buy you first-choice, tailor made casting. She's a blonde with some form of existing relationship with the director, a name they can sell to someone, and a well publicized screen test.

Who's to say these won't be ten shorts shared amongst the key characters and their lead-up to the tournament? It's entirely possible Sonya spends most of her time jaw jacking with Jax in an office and scowling about Kano.

I tend to agree that she doesn't make a great Sonya at first glance -- even if her age and physical competence is being derided to comical lengths -- but there's every chance the negatives are completely mitigated by circumstances. Fingers crossed, eh?

Well, I guess it could work. I'm not sure if Demi strikes me as the best Sonya, either.
