I recently finished my fan made trailer for DOA, the movie based off the popular video. Over all I thought the movie was pretty good and the trailers for it did not do it justice so I made my own. It's no Mortal Kombat, but I'd put it up there with one of the better video game movies. For those who saw it what did you think? I think MK the movie so far is one of the best adaptions.

1st MK movie > DOA > MK Annihalation. DOA was a good movie, even compared with non-video game movies. I liked it, but the first MK movie was still better IMO.

Dudes, i haven't watched DOA yet, but i'll make sure to get it soon.

And just for information, in 2008, a live action King of Fighters movie will start the filming in Honk Kong... i can't wait!

i dont know, it might just be me but i personally didnt like one thing about the DOA movie, im not a fan of the games either. MK 1 AND 2 will always reign supreme in my book.

one movie i watched again a few days ago was the super mario bros. movie...idk you guys might've liked it...but i thought it was an abomination

It looks like the only good thing that the DOA movie can do is give me a boner for an hour and a half. Other than that it looks like crap.

I'm gonna go with Mortal Kombat, by far.

Oh, shit. . .I vaguely remember that movie. . .My god how inaccurate it was. . .

Makes me wanna watch the Clint Eastwood "Man with No Name" Trilogy and the original Django.

MK1 is better.

wow i really can't understan why people liked DOA movie.
man i love doa videogames series but the movie really sucks.
they used kevin nash and make-up and weared him to resemble to Hulk Hogan just because the producer didn't have enough money to hire Hogan.
Jann Lee apears in the movie less than a minute.
idem for lei feng.and for gen fu.and for almost 20% of DOA cast of characters(like leon).
Bayman seems a idiot in this movie defeted by a guy who don't know martial arts.how this guy managed to won the first match is unknown.
thewy give too much importance to Tina and Zack(in the video games they deon't have a relationship either).
The quality of the fights is terrible:the first round was 30 secs long.
the final fight was ridiculous...omg i still remember that guy fighting with special sunglasses.
the only good but unrealistical fighting scene is between Zack and Tina.
they put also a xtreme volleyball match(and that's worse than liu'animality in annihiliation) and in the fight between kasumi and hayate weapon are used even togh are forbidden in the doatec rules.

in annihiliation there are a lot of plot holes and stupid ides, but for me Annihiliation si better.
repeat i like both franchise(even toug i prefer MK) but for me the list is:

1)mk first movie
2)mk 2 movie
3)doa
4)street fighter movie.

the only thing DOA has going for it, movies and games, are the girls they whore up! MK whore up it characters, even the male ones(why do goro has a bulge?) But they don't rely on nude characters to sell their games.

Because of NC-17 and AO.

But yeah, DOA is practically infamous for this shit. About as much as MK is for the violence. If you read This thread, Nudity would go first to DOA before MK. They just did it for a longer time.

We don't need nudity in MK, like i said, even the male characters are whored up, (not that i and other female or gay ppl are complaining ) But hey, if that what sells THEIR games, so be it, but MK is on a higher level than DOA.

Ok, i've just finished watching the DOA movie... and it is a piece of shit.
As a hardcore fan of the games, i am terribly offended for such a ridiculously stupid movie to have the name "Dead or Alive".

It simply doesn't make any sence... why do producers love to write crappy storylines for movies based on video games, when.... THE FUCKING VIDEO GAMES HAVE A PLOT ALREADY??!

The first MK movie, although non canon, was pretty good, but its non-canonity was one of the reasons for the creation of such an abomination called "Mortal Kombat Annihilation". If they had stood to the main story, it would be much better. In DOA they just needed to fill the gaps that are created by short ending FMV's or short story mode sequences. But no, it is much cooler to write some nonsence plot, and apply it.

The DOA movie has the type of fight coreography i hate the most, it does not respect the personalities of the characters (it makes them look goofy all the time), it does not respect the fucking FIGHTING STYLES of the fighters, it has a bad actor selection to most of the characters.... and I SIMPLY CAN'T STAND IT!!

Zack is a cheerfull Muay Thai fighter that is a DJ as a hobby, not some dude trying to get on Tina's pants. And by the way, i've mentioned it before but i must remember it: HE IS A GOD DAMN MUAY THAI FIGHTER, not some amateur whose skills are provided by cable action filming.

Christie is a cold and cunning assassin, not a whore with that fucking sence of humor.

Ryu Hayabusa is suposed to be the most power Ninja in the planet, but no, he's a short asian guy whose discription just makes me sick.

Kasumi is not a princess, and she doesn't use those annoying acupumcture tricks, that are simply impossible to use during an actual fight.
Oh, and she, Christie and Tina have as much probabilities of ever teaming up together, as Marilyn Manson to fall in love with the pope.

The character errors and mistakes are endless, i'll be sure to post all of them later.

the list goes on and on discribing the horrible character portrayal, fight scenes and plot, but i'm just too tired right now..

I especially love how they make Hayabusa intimidated by Kasumi...funny.

Also um........Helena hates her father, why would she avenge him.

Helena didn't run DOATEC until DOA4 so...yeah.

And if in fact Helena had taken control of DOATEC, it would be only to find the assassin who sniped her mother, but they didn't mention that at all.

What they should have done was use Kasumi, Tina, and Leifang as the main three characters, like how they were the original ladies, and make Christie into one of Donovan's assassins cuz, well...she is.

What's cool is that Robin Shou played Liu Kang in the Mortal Kombat movies, and also played a pirate/ boat robber/ morron in the Dead or Alive movie, while Jaime Pressly played Tine in the Dead or Alive movie and also played the demon Mika in Mortal Kombat Conquest (notice the similarity between "Tina" and "Mika").
