Just got my physical copy. Stuff nobody's seen yet:

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)

- Takeda is being goaded by "Fox" to kill Hanzo with the dagger, etc. Takeda fights him, Scorpion breaks free and gets all Toasty on Fox before stabbing him in the heart with the dagger. Fox thanks him and begisn to regenerate, mentioning that Raiden never told Hanzo about the dagger's connection to Quan Chi, before being bisected from behind by Takeda. The two burn their dead and leave with Scorpion planning on doing terrible things to Raiden.

At the Sky temple, Raiden speaks with Fujin (who looks all pimp), and mentions that the "thing" is tearing across the realms, and his vision is too clouded to find it. Fujin warns against the price being too high as Raiden uses another dagger - the Kamidogu of Order - to better see it. After he cuts himself, he sees those multiple panels we've brought up in the thread.

Also it's worth noting that the Sub-Zero seen assaulting the Cyber-ninjas is dressed completely differently from the one Kano attacked...Make of that what you will...

^Nice.
Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
What do you mean by "regenerate", though? Do you mean he snaps out of his delirium, or does he actually start to heal? (P.S. R.I.P. Fox. We hardly knew ye.)

Sounds bitchin'.
Edit: Ah. Thanks for clarifying. smile

If Salazar was only web series, I really don't think he'd be a lead. When the show was first announced, it sounded like part of the whole point was to help introduce the new characters from the game. Having too many original leads doesn't really help that, especially when Legacy didn't have any. There's definitely white on there, too, though, and I'm not sure he's actually intended to be part of the ninja archetype (never mind that the casting call didn't really mention anyone's else's costumes, either); heck, I think he might be missing an eye, as it looks like there might be something covering that side of his face.

I didn't think that was a smoke cloud when I first saw it, as something looks... weird about it, especially compared to the smoke cloud in the panel beside it. Still, maybe this'd be something worth tweeting Kittelsen about.

The Takeda connection is there, sure, but there are a lot of things about that leaked casting list that lead me to suspect original characters, really. You'll likely hear this on the Netherkast tonight from Razor in all likelihood; the notion of Kung Lao having extended family like Kung Jin is remarkably retarded considering his whole shtick is being the original's last descendant.

And honestly, if we're going to look at a guy weaing a black hood with greyish/white shoulderpads and straps - and looking at the physical copy there's no question it's mostly grey, the scan saturates it- who appears to have a smoke cloud next to him, on a page that makes a point of showing off returning characters in every panel...I'm gonna use Occam's razor rather than than just assuming it's a new character we have a name and a rough description for.

I've tweeted Kittelsen nonetheless. :p

Thing is when, the series was first announced this was said:

In association with the upcoming Mortal Kombat X video game releasing April 14, 2015, Blue Ribbon Content and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment are teaming up on an all-new series that showcases some of the franchise’s most storied characters, while introducing a new generation of fighters.

If D'Vorah and Takeda are the only cast members there who are actually part of that "new generation of fighters" from the game, then there's something seriously wrong. I even have a feeling that if we hadn't already seen them in the game or comic, people would be calling D'Vorah and Takeda original characters for the series, too.

This isn't its own thing like Legacy (which, once again, didn't really have any original characters as leads), this is tying directly into a single game and meant to promote the characters and concepts from it. Most of its leads not being from that game and instead just completely made-up for the show would be a problem. And it's not exactly impossible that NRS would retcon Kung Lao's status as the only descendent; they've done their share of that in the past. Hell, I don't really think being the "last" has even exactly been a big part of his character, and I can't recall it being mentioned anywhere in the new timeline.

But anyway, Kittelsen's confirmed it: whoever that is, it's not Smoke.

I didn't want to wait till Sunday so I looked up the local comic shop and got it. The comic format smokes the digital version, it just flowed nicely and ended well. I'm waiting to get the paper from now on.

Yeah I'm so glad I did. Not like I had a choice, but there's nothing like having the book physically in your hands.

Just finished it. Exciting stuff!

The paperback is scheduled for April 14th, right? That'll be what, 5 issues?
Kollector's Edition bonus?

I have no idea bro. Digital did one panel at a time and it kinda sucks when you see the comic and it's all smashed together. is that how most digital versions are?

This particular comic really just created more questions than it answered.

Did Raidens visions do any harm to him or Fujin on that final page? Fujin asked Raiden at what cost would giving blood to the Kamidogu do if you have blood to it.

Was Raidens answer a tribute to his movie form? It seemed like a funny smart ass answer when he replied "Among the humans it is considered noble to give blood."

What we seen in his visions. Jax has changed. He has a tattoo on his stomach but it looks more like he was marked... By what or who? Who is he training? Most assume its his daughter.

Kotal is finally seen drinking blood from a heart with what seems to be his ensemble or at least part of it. Ferra/Tor in the background and much spekulation on who the ninja is which if you look at the eyes I'd say it's a dead giveaway to Reptile who seems to have a metallic mask.

You also see Cassie Cage taking a punch from Frost in what seems to be a Dojo in a training scenario.

Sub-Zero(bi-han, or kuai Lang?) is fighting a multitude of cyborgs. Lin Kuei looks to be completely automated by now.

Reiko is feeling Mileena up and I hate how they designed her teeth. But what does it mean? Is there another child on the way?

Kano stabs a random Shokan in a bar with a knife. It's not a Kamidogu from what I can tell. Just looks to me like Kano got tired of this NPCs bullshit in a bar and showed him he's not some human who takes shit from anyone.

Finally we have Scorpion(who didnt take the bait mind you) and Takeda trekking through the Himalayas "to make a God(Raiden) beg for mercy." I like Scorpion but everything points to Raiden being the more powerful and Hanzo better have a good plan if he thinks he's gonna become the victor in that battle.

My final take on this comic
I highly believe Takeda will be a playable Character in MKX with a whip as a primary weapon.

I don't believe we have seen the last of Fox. His face was rematerializing in his what seemed to be his final moments. Maybe he escaped the fires Hanzo and Takeda set before they left. The fires were possibly to cleanse the curse and cremate the dead. It's now apparent Fox was possessed and Quan Chi was definitely involved but I still don't think he's the demon. Havik is looking like a real possibility here because I think that was the Kamidogu of Chaos. But I still won't deny Lucifer as being a possibility. I think that skull on Quan Chi's chest could possibly be Lucifer's. And Quan Chi is dead set on bringing him back.

Headband + Sword/Dagger + Whip = Richter Belmont, and I would be completely fine with that. That actually would be a really interesting fighting style, I'd bet. He could use the whip somewhat like Scorpion's chained kunai for escape as well as offensive maneuvers.

The webseries description, however, just calls him "a world-class swordsman" with telepathy and telekinesis, though, which frightens me that they're just going to shoehorn him in to get his aging father out of the way.

And, I'm sorry, T-rex. I thought "Mindfuck demon messing with Scorpion by making him think his new clan is dead" would've been an awesome plot, too.

Have you read the descriptions for upcoming issues? The place they're in is far from a training dojo. Most training dojos don't put their trainees in cages. tongue

The casting call for the web series describes Takeda as a swordsman like his father, so I don't think a whip will be his primary weapon. Maybe he could use one for one of his variations, though.

Maybe a sword will be his primary but if the whip isn't secondary ill be highly disappointed. That whip could be a combo of Mavados hook swords and Sindels hair. Add the sword and you got a crazy ninja gladiator theme going on. I hope to God he doesn't gain telepathy or telekinesis but it seems preordained.

I have read it and you're most likely right that it is a cage. There's just some things that don't make sense. Cassie having a light jacket on for one. Also the space between the metal of the cage seems reflective as it theyre trapped in a glass case of emotion. And then there's also smoke and shards being blasted throughout the cage. I think you're right though and it's the cage match. It's a good way to kill Frost off. I was hoping we would see Kobra get killed here but frost is good to kill off too. But how does Cassie beat a cyromancer without any weapons in an MMA match?

I think the entire Clan was trained in various weaponry and probably gets to take what they can carry and what they feel they are best with. I don't necessarily need to see Takeda with any of Scorpions moves or Kenshi's for that matter.

Why is DC publishing Mortal Kombat related things?

Those are the two franchises that I want seperate at all times.
Why did Ed Boon fuck up the mortal kombat franchise with his hard on fanboyism with DC, seriously, way to fuck up a perfect franchise by bringing something that had nothing to do with Mortal Kombat.

Why didn't Malibu publish this one, Ed needs to hop off of DC's Dick.
and stop mixing Mortal Kombat with DC, it wasn't a good idea in the past and it isn't a good idea now.

Warner owns DC. Warner owns Mortal Kombat. I think you're confused about why DC's publishing it.

Also Malibu closed down nearly 20 years ago, so I'm not sure how that would work.
