DEAD OR ALIVE:

Another video game is getting the big screen treatment. Impact Pictures and Constantin Films will bring Tecmo's "Dead or Alive" fighting video game franchise to the big screen in association with Mindfire Entertainment. Impact concurrently has video game-to-movie titles "Driver" and "Resident Evil 2" in the works. Paul W.S. Anderson and Jeremy Bolt, founding partners of Impact Pictures, will produce "DOA" as part of their existing deal with Constantin Films, says The Hollywood Reporter. Bolt said the film, described as "Charlie's Angels" meets "Enter the Dragon," will go into preproduction this year and is targeted for a fall 2004 release.

STREET FIGHTER 2:

Obviously hoping to save his dying career, action-man Jean Claude Van Damme has struck a deal to star in a sequel to his 1994 flick "Streetfighter", based on the video game of the same name. Australian singer, Holly Valance, has been in talks with Van Damme this week about co-starring in the movie. She would replace fellow singer, Kylie Minogue, who starred in the original. Van Damme is said to have been impressed by Valance - who can apparently kickbox - but according to The Herald Sun the filmmmakers will still be auditioning other actors up until the last minute.

Beilieve it or not, I've been hoping for a segual to STREETFIGHTER, ever since I saw the first one. I is not is bad as people say it to be, IMO. I think they did a fairly great job on that movie. The only bone I have to pick with that movie is thier casting choice for DJ. What were they thinking about?
I agree wit u. I think it was heavily underated. As for the casting, I think it was great, except that many street fighter's didn't look the way they were supposed to, specifically they're hair. I'm hoping they have better fight scenes in SF2, and a better story with less characters.

Give me a friggin break, Streetfighter sucked!!!

JC van Damme was acting very very poorly, the caracters had nothing in comparison with the game.

Ryu and Ken, smuglers or something?? Come on!! They are the hero's in the game and not some low rent villains.

Besides the streetfighter games are based around Ryu and ken, and not like the the movie where everything revolves around Guile. I never heard in the game that T-hawk, Guile and cammy where in the same army outfit.

If van Damme wants to save his carreer he should take acting lessons and not waist another good game title. Maybe they should film the manga version, that one was superb!!

The acting in Street Fighter: The Ultimate Battle sucked. It was horrible. So were the cameras and the editing. Not to mention the storyline, and Ken's pointless 'haircut'. If they are making SF2 a sequel to the original movie, it's going to suck aswell, because it wont be like StreetFighter, which is a spiritual kinda thing, with the Hadou and all dat. Unless, Ryu and Ken suddenly decide to leave the crime buiseness and become super martial artists looking for the perfect challenge- unfourtunetly, that would be a cheesy way to do it aswell. So either they start fresh, either it will suck.

I wonder how they are going to pull of the DOA movie, but I really don't see anything interesting about the storylines for the DOA series. As for Street Fighter 2, I thought the first SF movie was terrible.
If they have any brains, they will definately start from scratch... Especially since it's been a decade since da original...If they don't, I agree it will suck.

AKUMA RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
His name is Raul Julia, and he was an incredible actor... He made the film worth watching with his terrific performance.

That post was quite stupid. Here's why:
1. It's Raul Julia, not Raul Jewis.
2. Just because the actor died, doesn't mean the entire script has to change. Lambert was shooting Bewolf, and that's y he couldn't be in MKA. But they got a diferent actor.
u silly man, u.
Although it's possible to get another actor to play Bison, I don't think it's a good idea for 2 reasons:
1. Chances are, nobody can play Bison as good as Julia did.
2. More importantly, the next SF movie should be fresh... Returning Bison would kill that idea... Having a new bad guy, Akuma specifically, would be a better idea to start the film off fresh...

I miss Raul Julia. But he just wasn't right for Bison. Bison Was this hulking mass of insanity. Raul only could pull of the insanity part.

That's right, Shoe. And MKR, I'm not saying they shouldn't kick Bison out and use Akuma instead, I'm just saying that just because Raul died, it doesn't mean they have to rewrite the whole script. Besides, there are many many people out there who could perfectly play as Bison.
True, but we've already seen Bison portrayed on the big screen perfectly... Having a new villain will make things a tad more interesting, don't u agree?

Dead or Alive is too gay (I meant to say unpopular) to be a movie. Street Fighter is so played out and lost the competition with MK a long time ago.

But, you have to admit, Street Fighter had the original ass-kicking chick of video games: Chun-Li.
