I bet that's not what the people with the rights to the movies are thinking.

...well HOPE is right.
The one hope I got that this movie will be great is what Chris Casamasa said months ago in an interview in some radio station. I can not remember the name of the Threat nor the member who wrote it, but he heard that Chris said that the producers were putting a lot of money to the next MK film, that it was going to make the Matrix film look like amateurs, or something like that. Maybe he was kind of joking a little bit, but who knows. I know this: production companies are not going to give a lot of money to a movie sequel that follows up a disaster film like MK:A, UNLESS the story is worth the money.
I know that Mortal Kombat can tell stories that have never been told before, but after all, some of the production team that is working on the next film are the same people who write/produce MK:A. So you know...
HOPEfully they had thought something smart.

That really doesn't say much though. It will probably end up a CGI driven cheese fest.

Well chances are that it will probably be a CGI cheese fest, but think there’s a better chance to believe that the story would be god if we hear that the budget of the film is over $70-80 million.
I mean, the average budget for a game-base movie sequel is about the same of the original. The Resident Evil movies were $45m; Tomb Raider movies were around $80m. The Mortal Kombat movies were around $30m each.
So like I said before, we can only HOPE they made some smart changes in the story to make it a great one...

I'm not glad with the idea of a 3rd MK movie. This movie has the potential to screw the franchise for good.

There's no way it can get screwed anymore than it already is. Even if it MK3 is as bad or worse than MKA, it won't kill what's already dead. If it's better, hey, great. If it's as bad or worse than MKA, people will just shit on it and that's the end of that.
Linden Ashby also said the script was ''good''. Then again, it was a couple of years ago I think.

I kinda liked the 2nd movie sad

Not better than the 1st one though.

But with todays technology and wide range of brilliant action actors, i'm sure this will be a hit. If not, at least it will be better then MK1 & MK:An.

They Should make a new Mortal Kombat movie, just not continueing the screwed up storyline of the first two. This one should be starting the movie saga over and stick closer to the storyline.
Because come on, making Scorpion and Sub-Zero work together!?

That HAS to be a rumor theres no way they can make such a bad move by teaming up Scorpion and Subbie

I personally don't like the movies much but the first one was alright. The second movie was terrible. MK: Devestation? I hope it improves even though I kind of doubt it. The trailer for MK:A was great, but the movie ended in disappointed fans. The production was delayed from Hurricane Katrina's arrival, so we got to wait before deciding on the verdict of the third installment. So far, we can only discuss about possibilities of the movie.

Ok I know its already been said, but I'm going to say it too.....The first movie was ok and I actually liked it. I was actually surprised how good it was when I first saw it (I was still suffering from the Street Fighter movie). I even bought the tape.

The second movie did suck more so since I was expecting so much after the first movie. Yet watching when it comes out on TV I could see a few good ideas if only they had decent writers and more actors like the guy who played Jax. But remember it was NOT really the same people who made the first movie.

Unless I'm mistaken, Midway is being a little more careful who has the rights to make a movie off of one of their biggest money makers and are keeping a closer eye on the movie. (I hope)

Well, you know, the story will always be good to a C list celebrity like Liden Ashby as long that his in there for more than 15 minutes, but I still believe that this next movie would be better than the firs two. I mean, the Sun does shine for everyone; those guys had got a LOT of time to sit around, get some smart ideas together, write and rewrite the scrip. Something great must had pop in to their heads during all that time.

Now about the Sub Zero and Scorpion working together issue I think Orthurus was referring to what happened in the first film, but actually, there was a rumor that we saw on Shinnokxz page. WAY back in 2001 Threshold worker Kunglao post in the mortalkombat site forums some info/probabilities of the MK3 script. He said that at some point Sub Zero helps Scorpion to take on Quan Chi, and then they turn on each other. I don’t know about you guys, but considering those three story lines, it fits to me.

I actually really liked MKA even more than MK1. The only reason why I didn't like it is because of the extremely weak story and plot, it made NO SENSE. BUt I loved the fight scenes and even if my favorite character Mileena died I still thought that was one of the best fight scenes. I loved all their costumes, I loved the scenery and the characters.

I think it's a great idea to make a 3rd one because I love Mortal Kombat and I would like to see a MK movie that has a full package deal without many mager mistachs....I can't waite!wink

The 3rd installment will only be good for the following reasons;

~ It has lots of blood, guts and the occasional kicking of ones' ass.
~ So basicly, if its an 18 (For us Brits) M (For the Americans) or whatever other countries class as adult movies, it will be good becuase normaly, violent adult films are good. grin
~ It has more than 15 MK characters in it
~ If there is nudity ( Female and male) (I'm not gay or bi btw, for all you homophobic freaks. LoL.)
~ There is actual scenes of death. I.e. Scorpion ripping hearts out infront of the camara.
~ The diologue is read through and checked multiple times by the 'Cheese-Checkers' for any cheesey lines like: "Now you must die, for I am, A Shaolin Monk. Hoo-Har!!" or "We must save the World together, for peace and love !!!" ...I think I proved my point on that...
~ There is decent actors and actresses who can act. And not people who you just pick out off the street, like other types of movies...
~ There is actual diologue from MK games, which they won't wreck and turn it into Cheese.
~ And if they bring it out at the right time. My surgestion would be to bring it out the week MK:A comes into our shops. That way we can buy the game, watch the movie and then play hours upon ours of MK !!!

What a great idea.

End Transmition.

Actual diologue from the movie? Hopefully they use some of the stuff from the opening scene from Deadly Alliance.

And I liked the second movie. It stuck to the game better than the first one.

Actually, it wasn't more faithful to the games than the first one. If anything, it was LESS faithful. Shinnok was Kahn's dad, Rayden and Kahn were brothers, Scorpion was just some assasssin, Cyrax and Smoke were cyborgs sent by Kahn (I guess he has technology to create martial arts killing machines, but not enough technology to have a fucking car instead of horses. ), Sindel's ressurection on Earth was NOT how Kahn was taking over the realm, Mileena doesn't look a thing like Kitana (I guess Sonya needs glasses), they travel the earth through the most retarded sphere objects ever, Sub-Zero is just a good guy for no reason, Nightwolf puts Liu Kang through tests.... Shit it was really alot less like the games than the first one. How do you figure the opposite out?

Well, I didn't think of it that way.

I just meant that a lot more moves were used from the games, and the characters looked like the did in the game.

But you're right, it was messed up.
