To be honest i am very happy with this roster.

My main Sonya is in it and she looks incredible. Jade in the beta was awesome to play with. Noob is someone i look forward to. As well as Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kitana and Frost. Cetrion is a welcome i really am excited for her and her move set. But is aint a mk game if the originals are not in in like liu sonya johnny sub and scorpion

One thing i dont understand is all the shit that is being said about having to many special forces. Like wtf ? Where did ya’ll get that from? Sonya is SF, Jax retired and is no longer SF. Cassie and Jacqui are SF. That maken a totall of three. But when you have a zillion male ninja’s i dont hear you complain. I for one am sick of sub, scorpion, ermac, reptile and we have kitana jade mileena skarlett and Tanya as female ninja’s ? Also dont hear anyone complain about that.

Please dont say Jax Johnny’s Kenshi Takeda and Kung Jin were SF in mkx cause they were not. They work for OI ( Outerworld Investigation ) at the end of the day takeda was shira ryu, kung jin a shaolin, Jax retired but came to save his daughter. Johnny only was team leader of the kids. Only one i aint sure about is kenshi.

Say what you will, but Bo Rai'Cho is actually a solid 3D character we haven't seen in a while- so him being DLC was refreshing. Noob Saibot is in MK11's starting roster, that's better than a DLC spot in MKX anyway- besides, a classic character like him won't ever be down for long- so I didn't spill any tears over his absence.

My biggest issue was with the FOUR guest characters we had. No way did we need that many. If anything, those are the characters that prevent any other MK characters from making the cut.

Agree about the guest characters having 50% of DLC not even MK characters was ridiculous and just unnecessary, just including Predator and Alien would have been more than sufficient.

Completey disagree about Bo Rai Cho though he is a woeful character always was and always will be. Why him when they could have put in Fujjn? Or Reiko and Havik from the comics? Any of those three (and many more) 3D era characters would have been much better received than Bo.

But anyway MK11 is a fresh start so high hopes that they have listened to the fans more this time round!

All this talk about Bo Rai Cho makes me miss MrGStar321.

Also, if there's more than four guest characters in this game I'm going to shit a brick.

Jacqui is a waste of a slot with Jax being in the default roster. Like woweeeee hey it's female Jax with some kicks, a bland personality, and hi-tech stuff, so totally cool guys. At least Cassie is entertaining, but ultimately she would benefit much more from Sonya not being in MK11.

As of now, Shao Kahn and Noob Saibot are the only good things about this roster in my opinion.

MKX DLC should've looked something like this-

KP1-

Tanya, Rain, Baraka, Predator

KP2-

Fujin, Havik, Sindel, Alien

That's way more sensible than the mess we got.

But that's all in the past. I just really hope I could be satisfied with MK11's DLC. I'm fine with the roster, I didn't think I would be, but I don't know...I haven't felt "ECSTATIC" over MK in a long time- I'm praying MK11's DLC can get me there...but I keep feeling like I'll be disappointed.

If we get more than one guest per pack I'm going to be very depressed.

Jacqui is a waste of a slot with Jax being in the default roster.

They are two different characters with two completely different playstyles, abilities, and movesets. Jacqui has earned her spot amongst the cast and isn't going anywhere.

Neither are any of the parents.

Not really. Both employ brawler/grappler moves, both have similar projectile moves (grenade launcher for Jax, missiles for Jacqui). Literally the only things unique about her are her hi-tech barrier (and she does have a cool fatality) and her legs. No matter how hard you shill for Jacqui, it doesn't change the fact that she's redundant and that her move set could be easily cannibalized into other characters. She has nothing special to offer other than a cool fatality. Die mad about it.

I always felt the MKX roster would of received more praise if they replaced something along the lines of Ferra/Torr, Kung Jin and Jacqui with Fujin, Rain, Baraka, story revenants or Sereena.

No. I think it’s dumb and not at all what I would like for it to look like.

I don’t get the ninja hate. Sure they might have a similar aesthetic... and that’s if you choose a classic alternate, but they don’t play the same. I don’t hate Sonya, Johnny, or Jax and don’t want them to go anywhere. I also don’t want some weird reiteration of them with a stupid spin on it.

If there was continued support and added DLC for MK9 I swear I’d still play it.

If you don't count Jax as Special Forces because he's retired (despite 'military' being his entire theme and the fact this game features a past-Jax who is not retired) - by that logic Scorpion is the one and only ninja.

If you call them "ninja" because they are masked, hooded, and dress with asian/eastern-inspired themes - MK11 has Scorp, SZ, and Noob. I think you're a few short of a "zillion male ninja".
By that same logic, let's look at all the characters who are dressed like soldiers / military-themed: Sonya; Jax; Johnny; Cassie; FemJax; Kano; and Kabal.
That's 7/25 who are western military themed characters. But I guess only 5 of them are actually Special Forces.

Special Forces is a blanket-term. "Special forces and special operations forces are military units trained to conduct special operations." The 'Outer World Investigation Agency' is a militerised force that performs special operations, so I'd still list them as Special Forces. Heck, the OIA was an MK3-era thing and later became known as the "Earthrealm Special Forces".

In MKX the faction is simply called "Special Forces" and its members include the 4 characters listed above (excluding Johhny, Kano, Kabal).

Johnny still works directly with the Special Forces and even dresses accordingly.

Takeda is, as you said, Shirai-ryu, and Japanese.... so I guess he could be considered a "ninja" along with Scorpion, but he's not in MK11 so he's not really relevant here.

But Kung Jin is unaffiliated. He may or may not have joined the shaolin / White Lotus Society after the game, but during the game he was not a member.

I mainly only care about MK2 cast so let's see...

Baraka check
Cassie Cage
Cetrion
D'vorah
Erron Black
Geras
Jade check
Jacqui Briggs
Jax check (don't care about him, though he's from MK2)
Johnny Cage check (don't care about him, though he's from MK2)
Kabal
Kano
Kitana check
Kollector
Kotal Khan
Kung Lao check
Kronika (Unconfirmed Playable)
Liu Kang check
Noob Saibot check
Raiden check
Scorpion check
Skarlet
Sonya Blade
Sub-Zero check
Shao Kahn check

Shang Tsung (DLC and with voice of Cary, aw!) check
Reptile (DLC maybe) check
Mileena (DLC maybe) check
Smoke (DLC maybe) check
Kintaro (missing, but I'll get over it)

So all in all, yeah, I'm happy. If they also throw in Stryker it's good for me. Everyone I wanted accounted for. :)

Overall, no. I felt like they left out some key characters that had a lot of potential to be involved in this game. And some of these newcomers feel more like Injustice characters. Especially the god-like characters Cetrion and Geras, they lack the mystique found in powerful MK characters.

Why does every character have to feel the same, is my question.

It's a good roster, not fantastic, but good. They actually brought back the majority of new characters introduced in the previous game, for once. They brought back a fan fave from MK9 in Noob Saibot. They brought back classic MK9 characters and actually made them better than they were before. We got a couple of surprises with Skarlet and Frost. I also like that they're not introducing so many new characters at once this time, and I think all 3 are solid editions- especially the Kollector.

Characters just seem to be done really well in general in this game. All of the MKX characters returning look improved except for Cassie. And even the mainstays like Liu Kang, Kitana, Jax, Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, and Kano look particularly awesome in MK11.

I'm surprised to see so many people don't consider Cassie to be an improvement from MKX. I mean, I respect your opinions and everything but she looks gorgeous in this game, like Black Canary in Injustice 2 gorgeous. And Ashley Burch did a good job in MKX but I'm glad Cassie was recast, that way I don't have to be reminded that Anthony Burch exists.

For the new characters, Cetrion and Geras are alright, if not slightly derivative (Avatar anyone?) but Kollector is dope. Looking forward to trying him out.

Meh, I preferred her in MKX. She was the perfect marriage between her parents- Snarky and lethal. In MK11 she seems more so "bratty" than snarky and there is a clear difference between the two for me. Also, her and Sonya really do look interchangeable from an appearance standpoint- that and giving Cassie Sonya's drone variation from the last game does nothing but honestly dilutes Cassie Cage as her own individual character in my eyes.

I mean if you're just talking about how hot she is then...Ok..but even then I think she looks a bit constipated.

All this talk about Bo Rai Cho makes me miss MrGStar321.

Loved his videos. Only until the part where he starts losing and getting angry. The checkpoints are way too far from each other so he keeps repeating a lot of parts, that threw me off a little.

I thought it would be neat if I made a tier list of characters I'm excited for in this roster.

1. TIER 1 (Super Excited!)
- D'Vorah
- Frost
- Skarlet

2. TIER 2 (Pretty Excited)
- Kitana
- Jade
- Kollector
- Baraka
- Jacqui Briggs
- Erron Black

3. TIER 3 (Not Too Excited, But Happy to See)
- Cetrion
- Kabal
- Scorpion (who would've thought?)
- Kotal Kahn
- Cassie Cage
- Noob Saibot

4. TIER 4 (Not Excited For At All)
- Geras
- Sonya
- Kung Lao
- Jax

5. TIER 5 (Indifferent)
- Raiden
- Kano
- Sub-Zero
- Johnny Cage
- Liu Kang

EDIT: I feel like I should explain why I'm happy to see Scorpion. lol It's not so much him in particular that I'm excited for, but the fact that I'll be able to customize him into a version I'll actually like.

It's okay. A lot safer than I originally thought. Still kills me they won't take the plunge on more obscure 3D era characters still (Mavado, Dhramin, Hotaru etc.) It's also baffling there is still no Fujin. Out of the 3 newly introduced I only really like 1. Some characters I'd get rid of all together (The Cage/Briggs fiasco). I'm very excited obviously for Baraka and Skarlet was a fantastic surprise. If I had to rate it as a whole I'd give it a 7/10. Just above average but nothing too thrilling.

Nemesis316

that way I don't have to be reminded that Anthony Burch exists.

No matter how bad of a day you have just remind yourself of one thing. At least you're not Anthony Burch.

Potentially this could be my favorite roster ever, or a close second.

I mean, the only characters I really miss are Takeda, Kenshi and Ermac, while I like the rest of the roster, being particularly happy of seeing Skarlet Kabal and Noob back.

Personally I am intrigued by Kollector, Kronika and Geras but I I couldn't care less about Cetrion.

Also I think that Jax and Kung Lao could have skipped this one because I think there is nothing else that these characters can give to the franchise

Final roster, what final roster? Do we know all DLCs already? No? So wtf are you talking about?

Regarding the CURRENT roster that we know and some characters that were leaked but are still not revealed officially (Shinnok, Mileena), the roster is ok, but could be better. I'm especially happy about Noob Saibot and Kabal, also I liked Skarlet and Erron Black, but it seems they were retconned completely so fuck them.

I miss some characters that were NPC in previous game - Rain, Sareena, Sindel, revenant Smoke.. Also, some older (from older games) ones like Ashrah or Sheeva.
