I could not disagree more with this thread. Jacqui may have been the most bland and uninspired character in MKX, but I'm really pleased with her new design. This is a significant upgrade. Can't wait to see what she has in store. Considering how much better Cassie appears this time around, I think we'll be pleasantly surprised with Jacqui as well.

I don’t think she’s a bad character, but for a game playing with timeframes where we could have anyone so give other characters like Reiko and Sareena a fresh time to shine we get Another generic military shooter.

I don't get NRS. I'm sure they realize most players would be happy to see Fujin, Rain, Sareena, Reiko, Havik back. But instead they give us Jacqui again, that is insane.

How is this an upgrade? All she has is a different looking armour and a darker skintone...that`s it...she looks like a throwaway NPC soldier and i`m utterly dissapointed! Same with Cassie..she is dumbed down to nothing but a soldier and has no spunk left..those two characters have dissapointed me the most in mk11(this is just my opinion..not fact)

Jacqui's new design is underwhelming. It's not super awful or anything, but just underwhelming and surprisingly 'safe'. I didn't like the character in MKX, but I always thought she had potential. All they really had to do is drastically redesign her. Instead of playing it safe, they should've risked a more outlandish approach to her design. They didn't do that. I don't like the hair at all, it looks goofy. Her costume is boring too. They had some good concept art for her in MKX, that they never used, with interesting clothing and really over the top but dope looking hairstyles.

Something along those lines. The one in the center is an interesting idea. It sets her apart from Cassie, and pretty much every other female in the game. Even the more familiar concept arts initially looked better from what we'd eventually get.

In my opinion, Jacqui should've been redesigned to look more futuristic. This is artwork done by Justin Fields, for Jupiter Ascending, but I honestly would've preferred a Jacqueline Briggs who looked more like this:

Well, at least they got this out of the way. If you squint hard enough, you can almost see a tiny bit of effort for her character design.

You don't have to squint, you can see the effort just fine and she goes look great here.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, even when it's wrong.

Cassie Cage certainly hasn't lost her spunk. And Jacqui doesn't look like an "NPC soldier at all.

And the 3D era wasn't all that popular, so I'm not sure how true your statement is even then.

And obviously Jacqui has her her fans too. This should go without saying, but they don't just cater to one portion of the fanbase.

Hope she is is not featured on the Kombat Kast. She has got the most boring design so far in my opinion. Could not care about her inclusion at all.

That's a ridiculous and immature thing to say. They're obviously going to show her, because they pretty much every character.

And it's also pretty ridiculous to judge her without having seen gameplay.

Dreads are something some black men and women have in real life.

With respect, It's pretty offensive for you to call natural dreads a "mess" or "travesty".

If you don't like it that's one thing, but calling it a travesty just seems a bit much.

And "Ehhh no", she really doesn't. That's just hyperbole.

And you're literally quoting every person in this entire thread who had a 'bad' opinion of Jacqui. Telling them all how wrong, ridiculous, immature and racist they are. You're offended because I didn't like her hairstyle? I'm offended that they had the nerve to give us this bland, boring design, I'm offended they put her on the roster in the first place, and yes, her hair looks like shit. The only way for them to include this character in this game, and pique my interest, is to drastically redesign her and actually make her look like a unique Mortal Kombat character that I'd want to pick up and play. They didn't do that.

Yeah, suddenly it shouldn't be all that surprising why she's back.

Never called you or anyone racist. Just said that you saying dreads where a travesty was kinda offensive.

But yes, i do find some of the criticism towards Jacqui exaggerated and ridiculous. That's true.

And not everyone seem to think her new design is bland or boring.

I think I’m sick of tech and guns as opposed to Jacqui. There are so many guns in this game!

I like Erron Black but I am getting soured on him just because of the abundance of guns.

I think I never saw a single Jacqui request to be honest. 3D era characters weren't that popular, however the ones I mentioned are among the better ones that deserve to come back.

I should've quoted your comment, the one I replied to. You have changed it entirely since I replied to it. Made it look quite different from your initial comment. That's bogus! Going back and editing a comment that someone replied to, to change the context and contents. I'm done with you, can't take you seriously.

You can multi quote instead of posting several times.

It is not ridiculous or immature. How is it? D'Vorah was shown off but has not had any part of the Kombat Kasts. While that is unfortunate for D'Vorah, I hope the same happens to Jacqui.

A character is not just gameplay. There are more componants to a character than gameplay. First impressions are the most important and Jacqui looks boriing and generic.

This is NOT the comment you initially posted, and it's not the comment I then replied to. You deleted what you wrote initially and then added a bunch of stuff that makes you seem way more fair and respectful than you initially were. "With respect", yeah.. right. The fuck's wrong with you? You were basically calling me a xenophobic racist, but then you went back and changed it to make you look civil and fair. If you wanted to elaborate on your initial reply, then you should've posted a follow-up comment after my reply, but you just went back and changed your entire comment.

Remember when a gun was unique to Stryker? Good times, good times.

On another note oh my what a thread. I actually had a strong feeling it was going to end up like this.

Okay I'm just going to comment and get out of this highway travesty.

She still looks as bland as tofu. The costume is not a remarkable step up as many are trying to convince themselves it is.

It's your run of the mill generic combat suit you see every uninspired character designer dress every comic book character in these days. Segmented slits for flexibility and all that practical modern jazz.

Not wanting to come across as egotistical here, but I still maintain my idea was, at the very least, more interesting.(Of course I would right?) Blow her half way to hell and "robo cop" the girl. Give her some turmoil while livening up her appearance and making her more than just another soldier while also forming a bridge to her and Jax in how he had his humanity ripped away from him. (Twice.)

(PS no I never designed her outfit. I abandoned this endeavour back in 2015)

On another note I guess that clears it up that she's not of mixed?

Oh and yeah the hair is awful. They just don't know which way they are going with it? Either have it all down or put it in a ponytail.

Anyway y'all have a lovely time in here.

According to who? You? If you're using Internet forums and social media for your ASSUMPTIONS, you're doing it wrong. No way are they indicative of what "a lot" of people want. People who frequent those sites are the vocal minority of who will actually buy the game. Sales to a large degree are what drive roster creation.

It's always funny to read these boards and see the hypocrisy. The same people complaining about Jacqui getting another shot are the ones crying about Fujin, Havik, etc. "deserving" another shot because...reasons.

The several thousand likes and retweets her reveal got on Twitter - even more than Johnny Cage - says you might be wrong, or at least underestimating.

Honestly, I think Jacqui might have more fans than people think, much like D'Vorah.

See that's the thing, as much as I advocate for fleshing out forgotten 3D characters... and I do, I'd love to see some more of them return: I don't think most players would be happy with Fujin, Rain, Sareena, Reiko or Havik. I think a vocal minority of fans and followers of the franchise would. I think most players don't know who those characters are, or give a crap about them at the end of the day.

Just using my own life as a cross section, I play these games most frequently with my best friend, his wife, my sister and her boyfriend. I ask myself, do ANY of the four of them know these characters? Would ANY of the four of them recognize these characters or care if they're included. The answer is no. I don't believe they would (Maybe Rain, at best, being a trilogy era ninja, but a hard no on the rest). Hell, Kenshi is the glowing exception to the 3D era drought, and I'm 98% sure the four of them wouldn't even recognize him. He'd probably ring a faint bell to a couple of them at best. They might remember "the blind guy" if I give them a little credit, I doubt any of them could give me his name.

For the vast majority of the casual fanbase... knowledge of this franchise begins at Mortal Kombat 1 and ends at Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and Netherrealm Studios (whose goal is to sell the game to as many people as humanly possible) knows that.

Do I think they could afford to wiggle in 2 or 3 more 3D characters from time to time... absolutely! Do I think anyone cares about that beyond the most hardcore of fans? ... ehhhhh... not really.

EDIT ADDENDUM:
And ya'know, in a funny twist, the one surprise 3D era character they did work into MK11: Frost, is the one 3D era character I'm 100% positive my sister actually would recognize. She doesn't remember most of them, but as a girl Sub-Zero, Frost has always stuck with her.
