I can see D'Vorah, Cassie and Takeda possibly making the cut.
In the next game, they need to find space to accommodate the trilogy cast, MKX newbies AND MKXI newbies.
I think at most 4 of the new characters will return for MKXI. I'll be surprised to see Jacqui, Ferra/Torr, Erron Black and Kung Jin back in MK11. They'll probably drop Kotal as well.
Basically, there are NO certs from this cast of newbies.
Look at how they've treated new characters post MK2. Even decent ones like Fujin, Reiko & Havik have been quickly trashed.

Erron black, kotal everyone will come back trust me. a few new characters like a new tarkaten replacing baraka then we will have shang tsung, kenshi, then the 3d era characters such as bo rai cho, fujin, frost and sareena, I think Havik and reiko will be in if they dont die in the comic. All we know is that fujin is defo in mk 11 and maybe even mk x dlc after the ending it paves the way for him to sort things out.

I think they did a pretty great job with most of the new people. I normally find it difficult to actually find myself playing with new characters consistently in MK.
I can tell you who I think won't make it. Kung Jin, he's good a good move set but I just really didn't find him interesting enough.
Ferra/Torr is an obvious no in my opinion.
I also can't see Erron Black coming back either, he looks cool and plays well but in regards to the story, I don't see him being important enough to take up a space in the next lineup.

Nah Erron black is way too popular to be left-out he got a huge response and kung jin still has a part. Ferra/torr is the only one I have doubts about
I don't see the new kids going any where for awhile. Cassie is being played up as the franchise's new poster girl, and Takeda and Jin seem pretty well received. Jacqui might miss out due to a weak impression this time around, but she has plenty of room to grow, especially with Jacqueda happening.
Kotal played a big role this time around, and as the current ruler of Outworld, I see him playing a large role next time as well.
Erron definitely has the cool factor working in his favor, and if his ending is cannon, then...
Dvorah is an interesting case. She seemed well received, but with her betraying Kotal, and Shinnok's defeat, she doesn't seem to have anywhere to turn at the moment. If she returns, it will be based solely on the fact that the story demands it.
Ferra Torr is really the only one that seems unlikely to return. They're an interesting character, but plot significance is small. Plus, I think they're the least well recieved.

Spoilers: (Highlight to reveal)
I could see him giving Jacqui a new motive, and possibly have him fall in with the Black Dragon.

Cassie, Jacqui, Takeda, and Kung Jin will definitely return. This way the old characters like Johnny, Sonya, Jax, Kenshi, and Kung Lao won't return - successfully passing the torch onto the newer generation of characters, which is one of the whole points of MKX.
Kotal and Erron for sure because they have that badass look and feel that a lot of people love.
Not Ferra/Torr. And I could see D'Vorah being a playable NPC. Although NRS does seem to want to really push D'Vorah into a villain-y role so I could see her playable as well.

Seeing Johnny his ending.
I am hoping for his and Sonya return. Ageless like the edenians

Everybody from the Scooby Doo gang will be back. D'Vorah I'm sure will have some part to play considering she wasn't flat out killed. Kotal will definitely be back considering he's the Emperor of freaking Outworld. I'd expect Erron Black to return as well simply considering how popular he is.
Ferra/Torr is the only question mark for me. They did nothing of any consequence in the campaign acting in the traditional lackey/punching bag role previously occupied by Reptile and Baraka. Conceptually they're interesting but I just don't see them having much of a future personally.

In a perfect world I would have them all back...except Jacqui. She's an NPC taking up a slot.
And I think most of them will be back. Kotal and the scooby gang are definites. I'm warming up to Cassie and Kung Jin but could live without Takeda. Not sure why but I preferred him in the comics.
D'vorah? I'd love her back but I'm not sure where her story goes. I think she might get cut unfortunately.
Erron Black is too popular to leave out. They just have to give him a meatier role this time.
Ferra/Torr will most likely get cut. which is a shame because I love the character but they serve little story purpose.
But if the MKX roster is anything to go by story purpose doesn't amount to much.
It's difficult who to say should make the cut when roster spaces are becoming increasingly precious.
I'd like a few 3D era characters next time but again spaces are so few. If I had to prioritize it would be Havik, Reiko, Fujin, and maybe Ashrah.
Some new characters too. My MKXI roster is swelling.

Jacqui will, she's already a popular character online/offline to pick, and will fill the token black cast member well

Can't believe there are still people thinking Cassie, Takeda, Kung Jin and Jacqui will replace their parents. Ed Boon already said that Cassie won't replace Sonya or Johnny. Also, these two along Jax and Kung Lao are not only staples but are also MK1 and MK2 characters, tournament favorites, developer favorites and fan favorites. There is also the fact that not even one of the kids plays like the parentes. They will be in MK11, before any of the 3D characters, again, deal with it. Also, if they wanted them out they would simply kill them.
Now back on topic.
All of the newbies will return.

All of them except Ferra/Torr. Shame, really, that they ended up being so bland. Their concept was nice but had we known ahead of time I'm sure most of us would have preferred a better character to take their place.
I could see them returning as NPCs like the revenants in the next game, at best

They aren't bland. They have a lot of interesting intros and their ending is one of my favourites.

Fun as Erron Black is to play, I can't see him coming back for XI. I wouldn't be too sure about Ferra/Torr either, they didn't have much impact on the story.
Given D'Vorah's big push in story mode, I'd say she's in for a fair shot but for story reasons, I'd say she'll probably be an NPC in the next game.
Kotal, I dunno. It all depends on who the central antagonistic force is in MKXI. I'm personally not overly keen on his gameplay (that said, I haven't played very much of him) but I think he's a pretty cool character.
I'd say all of the Scooby Gang are shoe-ins. I quite like all of them (particularly Cass and Jacqui) so I'd be real happy to see them again.

I'd be absolutely shocked if Erron Black didn't make the next roster. He's one of the most well received characters to come along in well over a decade. Maybe since MK2. Same goes for a large portion of the newbies. They're not going anywhere for a while.
The only characters I could see missing the cut are Ferra/Torr and maybe Jacqui or Kotal Kahn. They've received the most lukewarm reception but even that's relative. It's not like they're low quality by any stretch.
NRS has some tough decisions to make for XI, but I'd like to see Erron Black, Kung Jin, Cassie, Takeda, Jacqui, D'Vorah and Kotal Kahn back, in that order.

Jacqui will be back. Cassie will die then Jacqui will take her spot.

Why is everyone so certain Cassie, Jacqui, Takeda, and Kung Jin will all return? That's not how the MK series works. Some make it into the next game, others don't....doesn't matter if they're part of the "A-Team" or not.
Ferra/Torr seemed created just to add variety to the roster, they literally have no reason for being in terms of story. I think Kotal Kahn is an interesting character who plays great, but I just don't see any room for him in future stories....and he's too big of a presence to just have a minor role.
