Im sorry to say but marvel Vs Capcom 3 is Kicking MK's but when it comes to releasing info to the public. Plus they are having parties and letting people play the newest builds giving out free Pizza. Both games are coming out around the same time too. Dont get me wrong i still love my MK. But i love MVC3 too. What do you guys think?

Yeah they do seem to be dragging their feet for some reason. Casual players may have forgotten about the game by the time its released.

No offense, but I'm sick of reading about how MvC3 is releasing all this info. When its released there are gonna be no in game secrets at this rate.
Mortal Kombat is releasing info at a proper rate. Everyone needs too stay patient. Making topics about the downtime between releases isn't gonna speed it up. We're supposed 2 get an MKast this week anyway, and GTTV's character reveal next Thursday. By that time the website coundown will be nearly finished. Seems like a pretty good flow too me. Always has. The way I see it, we're never gonna get too little information. We aren't waiting for magazines anymore, everything will be revealed at a moderate rate. Not once a month with hopes that the mk game made it into the magazine

I'm getting kind of tired of people whining about how there's not enough info being released...

There's been so much that got released not too long ago. It's almost November, this game isn't going to be released until the spring time of 2011... You all have to realize that there's plenty more months to get pass.

So, just let the team release what they want to release at the rate they want to go at. At times, and no offense to anyone, I feel as if this game is literally your life. There's more things out there in the world to enjoy than the information being released on this game.

I know! I mean it's not like we don't have FIVE months to go. -_-

Seriously, I can't believe you people are complaining about this. The previous games have been completely ruined thanks to the MK team releasing info every damn time we looked around. Now you people are mad that they're keeping their mouths shut for ONCE? I might can see your concerns if the game was coming out in November or December, but it won't be out until MARCH!!!

And please stop confusing "promoting" with "spoiling the entire game".

This right here.

By the MvC3 comes out everybody is going to know everything about the game and the characters before they even get to play it and that just seems a little pointless to me.

As for the information flow of MK I have no problem with the way the things are going right now because before too long we will probly start getting a steady stream of info.

I say the less info we get the more suprise factor we will have when the game is actually closer to release.

How do most of the characters and most of the stages = everything about the game?

I agree. But I think they need to show us more gameplay and character walkthroughs like Capcom is doing. That will hold me until the next character announcement.

Here's my question: What's better marketing? A steady stream of new info that builds hype and excitement or countdown timers that lead to shitty, half-baked websites?

Imo i don't think they should reveal all the initial characters. I'd love to get some surprises in that department.

Keeping secrets in the game secret is one thing, and im fine with that, but the obvious stuff shouldn't be withheld. Like no one is going to be surprised when they get the game and see Sonya or Kano or someone like that on there. So those type of characters should be revealed, but I completely understand if they kept a character like Noob or Rain secret considering the amount of debate and speculation surrounding them. Plus they really need to release those bio vids for all the announced characters soon

Seeing as how the cast is going to be the majority of MK1-3's cast - really, we already know who's in the game, we just haven't seen them yet. Be patient.

But what is the rush? The game won't be out till APRIL now. I don't see why you're acting as if this is some race against time.

Sorry I'm gonna have to agree with the crowd of people disgusted with the way they are revealing stuff. The one thing I like about the other games aka street fighter, tekken, and blazblue is that they're not only putting it out there for people to test out.. there getting hardcore feed back from players so they can fix whatever people consider broken and what not. Those 3 games are extremely well balanced mainly becuz of that.

I'm all for secrets but character reveals and stages shouldn't fall under that catigory. Fatalities, gameplay modes, story..etc are all things that should be kept secret.. not shit that's gonna be the core of the main gameplay. All in all I just want a well balanced mk.

Roster characters are not really in-game secrets. It's not like we're asking them to reveal Skarlet or specific character endings.

And as I've said previously, if people want the game's main content to be secretive, it's their personal initiative to not look at the new media. This "If I don't want news, no one should have news" mentality is simply unfair.

What defines a proper rate? Shouldn't a proper rate keep fans excited? That's why we keep comparing MvsC3 to MK's marketing, because if you visit the Capcom forums, it's clear the Capcom marketing has been more successful. All the MK marketing is doing is torturing hardcore MK fans that are gonna buy the game anyway. The MK2011 is out of sight/out of mind for the rest of the gaming community.

Look Im not asking for anything drastic or anything that is supposed to be a secret to be revealed. Only very obvious stuff that we already know. Plus, like Temp said, if you don't wanna know stuff then don't look at it. Simple as that. No one is forcing you to search for MK related information, If you do it's because of your own free will

I would also like to see the main roster characters before the game is released. But I fail to see why people are acting like we need to see them right this second or else the world will end. I just don't get it. :/

So is the "We want news every hour of every day and if you don't, screw you!", mentality. I don't think it's fair that I have to stay away from MKO or anything MK related because of a small group of impatient fanboys.

Yup. I'm more excited than ever. :)

That's the problem with these fans. Always trying to compare Mortal Kombat to something else. MK is MK. Deal with it.

LOL. You sound like a child. The only people who are being "tortured" are those who don't understand quality over quantity. I almost wish they would spoil EVERY thing about this game just to teach you people a lesson.

Really? I thought it was mandatory by law to search for MK related information.-_-

You said yourself it's obvious stuff. So why are you on your tippy toes over "obvious information"?

Your post sounds extremely selfish. So I can't post here because of a group of impatient individuals who want everything NOW? That's not fair either. I shouldn't have to hide from MK. In the end them keeping things quiet will only make the game more awesome when you discover things on your own. That's something that would benefit us all. Not just me or certain people. Us ALL.

This is a false dichotomy. There are other options beyond "displaying no new media" and "revealing every standard game element right now." There's a healthy middle ground where you display a little bit of information every month. Two characters per month would have been the sensible option.

ProfesserAhnka Wrote:

Well, there's two responses to this point. The first one is that no one is saying "reveal everything now." That's a skewed interpretation of our stance, and I'm sure you know better.

The second response is (with all due respect) that the desire for more media is more sensible than the desire to be surprised later. If you see the new media now, the worse case scenario is you'll no longer be in a state of anticipation. That a cheap reason to prevent others from engaging in substantial content and fresh speculation. As I said before, the difference between the two bases is that one is complaining they're hungry and the other is complaining they're too full. The first seems significantly more reasonable to me.

ProfesserAhnka Wrote:

Perhaps gore, heavy storytelling, and fantasy themes are essential to the MK franchise. Bad marketing is not. If you look at Gamespots's popularity rankings and the traffic at Capcom forums, Capcom has by far shown to be more successful in terms of hyping their own game.

ProfesserAhnka Wrote:

A reasonable flow of releasing information has nothing to do with the final quality of the game. And again, you're (I presume purposely) assuming that deeply embedded secrets are somehow on the same level as Kano's model design or Smoke's bio. No one is saying "Reveal everythings NOWS!1!1!1", just standard roster characters who we all know are going to be in the game anyway.
