So the Dragon logo could've been selling itself (to the fans), but not good enough.
Now that WB is involved you know they can't just go and say "as long as the fans buy the game it's good enough". This is the reason why Kratos is in and this is the reason they put a very cool illustration (coz you know it looks cool) on the cover.
The logo would be cool for old times sake, but now everything about your game including the cover needs to make everyone want play your game. Otherwise a lot of people would just look at the cover. Make a comment about it like "Mortal Kombat was cool in the 90's" and move on to the next game or don't even give it any attention at all. These people need to want to play this game as well. A cool cover can be a trigger to make people wanna find out more about the game by trying it out in the store, going home and looking it up on review sites or youtube, or just picking it up right then and there.
At least you should be happy they didn't put Kratos on the cover to sell this game a some more.

Besides, when you put the game in your PS3/Xbox360 you're not gonna worry about the boxart. You're gonna be playing a kickass game and forget this thread.


Ummm.... what the fuck are you on about? The only two fighting franchises that outsell Mortal Kombat are Street Fighter and Tekken. Mortal Kombat is EASILY one of the top selling fighting games... and as of this generation, did not fall short from Street Fighter and Tekken in sales...

This thread has gone to shit.... Love the cover or hate it it shouldn't tear us apart were all here for the same reason and love the same game here. Dragon logo would've been great but this is still ok, it's a little tacky and cliche but that ok the game will still (hopefully) be beautiful and blow our minds so let's worry about how were ganna make it to April 19th not the box art.

I like the cover art. Got it even cut out and used it as my wallpaper. Looks beautiful.

you have to admit, at least you can see all the detail they gave subzero and scorpions designs, when looked up close.

I like it call me old fashion but if they didn't had some chars. then i would of be dissapointed. Plus we all knew the dragon emblem was just a place holder.

The box art isn't good regardless of which characters wer on the cover. That said, having those two overly hyped prima donnas taking up that much space makes it awful (in spite of the fact that I actually like Sub-Zero). Boo.

Why are Ryu and Ken on the cover of the original SFIV?
