Kitana doesn't use her fans like they're used in real life. Plus they're not even weapons and they look stupid in a fight.

Baraka's blades. They extend from his arms, are tremendously efficient at slicing and chopping, and are capable of shooting murderous sparks from long range.

Kitana's fans are what made her my favorite back when MK2 first came out. They look badass in this game too. Also like Shao Kahn's hammer

Kitana's fans are looking better than earlier builds, now that they have designs...... but they still seem to be lacking something. They don't give me the same awesome nostalgia feeling that they did in MK3

Shao Khan's Hammer

Shao Kahns hammer! That thing is so crazy powerful, especially in Shaolin Monks. Baraka's Tarkatan blades and Scorpion's Spear are excellent weapons as well.

For me personally I love Kabal's Hookswords. There unique and actually fit him. I wonder if I can buy some online :)

I love many weapons, I like most of their weapons, we have.

Kitana's fans I have always loved, in the very start I liked Kitana better than Mileena, but only because of the fans, the story and face of mileena made me change my love, I didn't liked Kitana's good background.

Mileena's sais are also cool, but not as cool as the fans tho.

Both Jades purple staff and razorang are awesome weapons!

Baraka's armblades are orginal and deadly.

Kabal's hookswords rule this world! They look painful!

I love how Sub-Zero creates weapons from ice!

Kano's knives are his trademark terror weapons, I love the blue glow in some games.

Nightwolves spirit thomahawks and bows are very cool!

Kung Lao's hat is another weapon that is a true winner! HOw original can it get? (if you leave james bond out of this)

Weapons I miss in this game:

Rain could have a very big storm/electrical sword thing.

Whips, cool claw weapons and the scythe are the only weapons I really miss.

As much as I love Jade, her weapon is not my favourite of them all. I actually think Kitana's steel fans are my favourite. And yes, a fan with blades on is an actual weapon that was used in Japan. The fighting style using them is called Tessenjutsu.

Kitana's fans have had many different designs throughout the series, but I've always thought they looked cool. In her recent render her fans look dull and too simple, however, they got some nice design in-game now which fits her outfit as well. It's a graceful and feminine, yet deadly weapon style and it fits Kitana perfectly.

My second favourite weapon style is Mileena's sais. I was hoping she would use them more in this game though. She has three attacks with them - stomach stab, jumping stab and the throw... Oh, and when you've done the jumping stab and then the "Neck Bite" move, she stabs the opponent several times with the sai which I think is quite neat.

However, Mileena doesn't do her weapon style justice this time around. Like Kitana does with her fans, Mileena should mainly use her sais. I guess they didn't want the two to be too alike in their fighting styles, but still... Anyways, the sai also fits perfectly for Mileena as the fans do to Kitana. They are alot more aggressive and are more directly used in combat with the stabbing and swiping.

And then comes my third favourite weapon style in Mortal Kombat which is Jade's staff. At first, I actually didn't think a staff fit Jade at all. She is a super-fast and agile assassin who is known for her speed, and a staff isn't really known for being a fast weapon style. However, Jade having a staff actually balances her out as a character.

On her own, Jade relies on speed and precision over strength, but when using a staff, she gains reach and can do some devastating blows. And the fact that she can conjure it (or extend it) makes it less clumsy for her to wield so she can move around more freely and make use of her speed when not needing it. Oh, and the purple glow makes it look pretty as well. ^^

On a last note, I've never been a huge sword fan. Swords are rather bland and boring in my opinion and so many characters in fighting games uses swords which I think is somewhat uncreative. Sub-Zero using a huge Kori Blade simply didn't fit him at all - the sword looked like som fantasy medieval two-hander, and Subbie is an assassin, not a knight. However, the way it looks like in this game is ALOT better and now it is probably my favourite looking sword in Mortal Kombat. ^^

Hmmmm see I'd still call Kitana's fans fictional interpretations of "fighting fans". From what I understand, steel fans in real life aren't sharp and are a defensive thing... but wikipedia may just be unclear, in which case i'll have to rethink my opinion :)

Mileena's misuse of "actual" sais is just a pet peeve that I have, along with other characters that use sai as stabbing weapons and not for their other uses. Whereas say, Gabrielle in Xena Warrior Princess used them correctly :)

But you're definitely right, Mileena really should've gotten to use them more often in regular combat, integrated into her fight style. They could easily have separated her from Kitana by using sai more accurately as well. The knuckle on the end of the handle is a good blunt weapon.
