i might lose my mind if any of the ninjas get any MORE klassic skins. I personally would love to see klassics for Sonya, or JC, or Raiden. I would say Nightwolf, but really, his Mk3 i so close to what he looks like now, so it really wouldnt be that different. But no more ninja classics. I will take most any alt over klassics for characters that already have klassics. I could bear an unmasked subbie, or cyber smoke alt though, if i must.

It's not the same to give away for free individual costumes designed and made from scratch that actually take time and effort to create compared to making just one model, changing it's colors and giving it for free. If they ever make classics for Sonya, Johnny, Unmasked Sub Zero and whoever else you want, they will charge for them.
I think it's pretty safe to say Blueberry and Lime are going to be MK2 Kitana and Jade so if you're expecting something else, you'll be disappointed.

I'm guessing it could easily be some other characters. Blueberry and lime are way too obvious as Kitana and Jade and you know how much NRS love their Red Herrings.

Guys, they won't release klassic costumes for DLC characters. Not everyone buys them, but you will always get 2 free costumes.

Funny, I'm the complete opposite. I think the MK2 outfits are far better than the MK3 ones. Hate just about everything about their MK3 look, especially the lacing up the front and their hair being up as it is.

Well I'd still take an MK3 unmasked & scarred Sub-Zero costume over the klassik palette swaps (MK1/MK2/MK3) anyday... Even if they'd charge for it.

I've explained at great length in other threads why I don't think the free costumes will be anything but pallette swaps. I'm tired of re-explaining it. As it stands, I feel there are only three real possibilities here...

MK2 Kitana and Jade (Most likely)
MK2 Sub-Zero and Reptile (Most dissapointing)
MK3 Sub-Zero and Reptile (Somewhere between the two)

I feel like anyone expecting something other than a ninja is setting themself up for a fall. It won't be. Not on a freebie. Not ever. They're not going to do twice as much work as they need to, constructing two new models they'll never even make a dime on. Doing ninjas not only covers the two free characters, but leaves room for profit from all the additional characters they can get out of that costume in future DLC, recouping the time it took to make those models.

Because more are coming. And they'll include all the variant colors of these costumes that weren't released as freebies, so they can get some return on the time they invested to make them.

They can't do that with one off characters. Once they're out, they're out.

No one-off model will ever be released for free.

The only thing I find odd is that they'd release Kitana and Jade as the free MK2 skins... and not Kitana and Mileena. Maybe they think Mileena has more sales appeal than Jade so they want to hold her for the paid pack... I dunno.

It's possible MK2 Mileena will be with the unknown fighter, paired with a "klassic" CSZ (seeing he's the only cyborg left without a klassic alternate). But I agree that it's odd Kitana and Mileena aren't being paired together if it is in fact MK2 Kitana and Jade.

Which causes me to wonder the price of one MK2 female and MAYBE Skarlet in MK2 garb.

The MK2 Ninjas I can understand as well as the MK3 ninjas but the cyborgs and the girls have 2 pallete swaps left at best. Would they lower the price or lump both girls and cyborgs together to keep the price the same as before with the MK1/MK3 guys and girls?

I was just gonna post something like this. There's no way NRS will waste their time making an alt for a character that they can't milk to death for profits. You have to know they're going to release MK2 costumes for every ninja since we know they've made them. I also fully expect to see MK1 outfits for Noob and Smoke. Based on the leaks, it's likely the females will be getting MK2 costumes too. I bet Skarlet will be included to get classic alts as well, since all they have to do is pallet swap it. I'd love to see Cage get his MK2 leather jacket, but realistically, I know it won't happen. The best we can possibly hope for is that they release some of the costumes that they showed in the art book, because (I think) those are already made.

To sum it up,
easy pallet swaps = 100% probability of being released
difficult one-off costumes for specific characters = very low % chance of being released.

Finally, I hope it's Kitana and Jade and not Sub and Reptile. I think we have enough male retros. The girls need some (more) love too.

Because Mileena already has four costumes, while Kitana and Jade only have three.

As I've already said, any remaining pallette swaps not given away as freebies will likely just be sold as "Klassic Costume Pack #2" down the road. (And maybe #3, depending on how far they want to stretch them)

They labeled the first pack as #1. That implies they expect a #2 eventually.

Assuming the 3rd freebies are Jade and Kitana, MK2 versions of Mileena, Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero are inevitable as paid DLC, and they might stretch those costumes even further...

They could do MK2 Ermac, though I'm not sure they would. Possibly Cyber Smoke and Sub-Zero. Maybe Skarlet and Rain, though they seem less likely. And maybe the UMK3 male ninjas, as is speculated to be the 4th freebie costume.

Mileena could be the one they're holding back for a reason as simple as NRS thinking she'd be the most profitable of the 3 females. (That would certainly follow based on all the marketing we've seen for the game. Heavy Mileena, not so much with the Kitana.)

In any event... as I've said before... my money is on MK2 Jade and Kitana as the 3rd pair, and 2 UMK3 Males as the 4th pair. Any remaining unreleased pallette swaps will be paid DLC.

It's most likely gonna be Kitana and Jade, based on how willing they have been to release palette swaps thus far. For them to give us anyone else would seem t be a stretch for NRS at this point. It might even be Subs and Reptile MK2 outfits; Scorpion is too popular to give away for free, same with Mileena.

And Gillbob, I couldn't agree more re: people thinking we will see Klassic Sonya or Jax. People just don't understand the amount of work (ie- MONEY) that goes into creating a digital costume that doesn't interpenetrate or freak out in other ways. Pallete swaps they be.
However, I disagree re: Mileena.
I think she and Skarlet will be the last freebies.
I'm certain they won't release more than two (free) non-ninja characters.
If they *do* make Klassic skins for Jax, Kano, Raiden, etc.,
expect to pay for them like the first "Retro Pack".

The majority of the fans are simply annoyed and tired of the constant overuse of the "ninjas" for all these kind of extra and special material.

The majority has spoken! We all rather see retro or new costumes for Sonya, Shang Stung, Kano, Quan Chi, Johnny, etc then even more extra/special stuff dedicated only to the annoying ninjas....again.

Whatever happened to to diversity and fairness, NRS? Did you not promise to treat your diverse group of fans and followers? Or have you decided ro only settled to please and favor the "ninja fans"?

Since the beginning they've talked and promoted DLC content as something BIG for EVERYONE...but, so far, they've only been catering to the "ninja" fans.

It's extremely disappointing. It's lame.

If this is the way they were going to go, they should have made that clear from the very beginning instead of giving out a false idea: They made it seem like we would get diversity, like we would actually get special content for some of the other over 25 characters that are NOT wearing a "ninja" suit.

And their comments referred to much more than just "retro" costumes...they also talked about classic/retro Fatalities (where's Sonya's Kiss of Death? Shang's SoulS teal? etc?) and even new alternate DLC costumes for the cast....so far, they've only given these to the ninjas.

It's time to move on!

This is just one of many manymany threads that have discussed this issue and where the majority of the fans agree on the same thing.

A huge majority wants, expects, of hopes to see retro costumes or the classic looks for characters like Sonya, Shang Tsung, Kano, etc...its not like it's just two or three lonely fanboys. It's actually a big part of the community.

The fact that we still keep getting extra content that only caters to the "ninja characters" and their fans is disappointing and annoying as hell.

I can't imagine NRS being so freaking lazy and unfair by revealing the rest of the costumes to be yet another freaking lame group of pallet swap female ninjas and male ninjas to fit their MK2 and MKU looks.

They already got the costumes!!!! PLEASE, MOVE ON to the other over 20 characters that have even more interesting looks and that would be far more interesting to see!!!!

All that being said, I agree with the majority of the fans that the following costumes would be EPIC (and certainly far more interesting and fun than more boring overused and overexposed and over treated ninjas):

1) Sonya: MK3 or MK4 or MKSM costume.

2) Quan Chi: MK4 or MKM look.

3) Kano: MKDA or MK1 or MK3 look (bald).

4) Shang Tsung: MKDA (alternate or main) or MK1/MKSM look (old man + robe).

These characters would greatly benefit from fun retro/classic looks, and more importantly, there are some very good reasons why most fans want to see them: Because they are fun awesome looks.

Please, NRS, take serious note of this topic.

They all have retros, they WILL NOT get a second one like MK3 Scorpion or MK2 Reptile. Diversity is what NRS is going to be doing. Plus it started off with MK1 costumes, moved to MK2, so i'll put a million dollar bet MK3 ones are next and MK4 one is after for Quan Chi and someone else.
