I'm talking about the vignette's narration itself. I've seen the fixed bios a few times and they are much better than when they were "Mileena covets the throne and will kill anyone who gets in her way" to the more complete and concise bio. The vignette made me go "Hmmm...is everyone in Mortal Kombat just that batshit bloodthirsty?" In regards to the vignette itself.

Think of it as a newcomer to the MK series. If a person saw only the vignettes and nothing else, they might see the difference in the characters and the backstories themselves, but the end game/line sound bland and too familiar.

That's all I'm saying.

You make perfectly good (and true) points, but I know that I'm enjoying these personally! The art is amazing! I hope that picture of Milenna and Khan is in the art book. But, wasn't it Khan, not Tsung who created her? Or did he create her as a servant for Khan?

Tsung created Mileena in his flesh pits. Kahn wanted a daughter to replace Kitana over time. So the wizard of darkness decided to make something real special. Instead of just you know making a complete Edenian clone of Kitana, he had the bright idea of mixing Tarkatan blood with Kitana's DNA(science and magic? Does he have a phd in genetic engineering?) and got all giddy thinking he was a pimp haxer. Out came this great, d cup clone of Kitana. Tsung's like "I am so boss" and she lifts her face up like jaws.

He created a grotesque clone that was kind of imperfect, kind of crazy. Kahn just face palmed at his wizards ineptitude and said to mask that shit up and just use her a lapdog while he totally sits like a boss on his skull throne.

And that's why Shang Tsung still sucks as a sorceror.

Well Sub-Zero's says he is out to destroy his brothers killer and anyone who gets in his way.

Scorpions on the other hand wants to avenge his fallen clan and kill his mortal enemy.....Sub-Zero.

The whole reason Kahn wanted a clone of Kitana was because he was afraid Kitana would turn on him some day, so he wanted a version of her that would stay loyal.

That's why Shang mixed Tarkatan into the recipe. Tarkatans are dumb and easy to control. They listen to the alpha dog.

Just scanned through her old bios, but I didn't see any mention about it. Although Razor is right, I think it was mentioned in Kitana's bio and ending in the earlier games she learned about her true past, and as Razor said, Kahn created Mileena as a failsafe in case Kitana goes against her. What Tsung didn't expect was for her to come out with her iconic teeth and winning smile.

Kahn didn't teriminate her and instead introduced Mileena as Kitana's "long lost sister"

SmokeNc-017 Wrote:Was Mileena ever interesting before MK4 or MKD? Plus the tarkatan blades are a clue to her origins, I seriously doubt she actually has any.

Yes, she was interesting before those games, but I wasn't particularly into her character that much back then. I would think that the eyes and the face are enough clues to her origins.

MKBooted Wrote:Well what did you expect her to be? Professor of quantum physics at Harvard? She's always been a child-like killer - that's who she is.

No. I want her to be a character that has real thoughts and feelings as shown in previous games, not for her to be a mindless killer. I don't know how you got the idea that she has always been a child-like killer, because I haven't seen that from her until this game. I want to get a nice insight into her character, and of course the story mode is more appropriate for that. However, going back to what I was saying earlier, I'm just afraid that instead of doing stuff like that, they'll just focus on her as being a child-like, mindless killer and nothing more.

SmokeNc-017 Wrote:Ok, but what is Mileena at this point in the story line? A clone of Kitana made from tarkatan and human parts through sorcery who serves as Shao Khan's lap dog and Kitana's rival. That's about as far as her story goes from MK2 until the very end of MK3 where she's killed by Kitana and brought back by Shinnok.

Actually, in this timeline, Mileena and Kitana were both working together under Shao Kahn. However, Shao Kahn suspects Kitana is up to something, so he sends Mileena to keep an eye on her. That's what led to Kitana and Mileena fighting each other therefore led to Mileena's demise.

If you read between the lines, you can clearly see why that rivalry between Mileena and Kitana is there. Mileena's devoted love to Shao Kahn is no doubt the reason why Mileena wants Kitana dead, because she's jealous that Kahn prefers his 'perfect daughter', Kitana.

I'm sure that Kitana's vignette (if we ever get one) will show the other side... and if you put 2 and 2 together, you'll know what's going on. :)

Mileena's always been kinda dumb and had a one track mind.

Hell, in MK4, she literally allows Kitana to escape prison just so she can fight her.

I think a lot of people read that Malibu comic where Kitana finds out her origin and Kahn tells her that she's the favorite daughter and he can't love Mileena because she's fake, and Mileena overhears it and starts crying, and took that as some indication that Mileena's some sort of sensitive soul with full human cognitive abilities.

But nothing about the Malibu books has ever been canon. In the games, she probably would have reacted to that same scenario with snarling rage and confrontation. She's largely always been a bloodthirsty idiot and there's nothing wrong with consistency.

XD, yeah true enough Razor. It took her just long enough to realize in MKD that's she was in control of the most powerful army throughout the realms. Mileena's my favorite character amongst the females, but she's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Hell, Baraka managed to actually show some cunning by sending a fake in MKD ending. And she bought it hook, line, and sinker even though its non canon. Mileena's driven by her Tarkatan instincts for the most part.

She's more run into the heat of battle and snap jaws into prey, less stragetic genius from her cosistent characterization. Pre-reboot/retelling that is.

Wow, this will mark the first time in MK history I have ever given a shit about Mileena. She looks VICIOUS in this game, wow!!!

Love her story. Really sets her apart from just being a clone gone wrong. Dig.

Same for me, I have always thought that she is one of the most bland and boring ''classic'' character, this may change after I play the game though.

Yet another copy/paste fatality. For those who said it isn't, it doesn't matter how one gets to the critical points of the fatality. The opponent's feet are pinned to the floor by a weapon, Mileena walks up, tears the torso, and throws it. The theatrics/walking up/win pose are irrelevant if the actual fatality is exactly the same.

I would have liked to see them re-do her MK2 fatality where she stabs her opponent repeatedly with her sai. It's brutal without being another cookie cutter dismemberment fatality.

But I digress... the rest of the vignette is good, though it doesn't reveal much.

Pretty cool vignette. I would have liked to seen more combos and special moves. I like her story, and it seems more fleshed out this time.

Now please release the Johnny Cage one next. There is a about 12 more weeks until launch and at the pace there going I don't think we'll get one for every character.

They've pretty much confirmed over Twitter that the only ones we'll be getting on the internet are the characters who are on the website.

But apparently there's a lot more content like this for every character in the actual game, they just don't want to spoil it all, that's why only 5 or 6 characters on the site.

They Won't do that. Next in line is Mileena's Combo video after that who knows they could release her 5th and 6th unlockables which seem to be Fatality trailers and then move on to Scorpion and Sub-Zero's 5th and 6th or They can just drop the Kombat Chat Bullshit and Give us stuff on Raiden and Khan and the Mystery character in February, March and April.

Pffff I probably haven't posted any messages here in let's say 5 years or so...but ever since the announcements of the new upcoming MK I have been reading A LOT and I have to say....what's up with all the new Mileena love and worshipping??? It seems as though the entire MK9 is about Mileena...I have to admit, she looks cool and I like her new attitude but that's about it...And I'm a bit disappointed by all the negatieve responses concerning Kitana and the way she looks...Cause I think she really looks astonishing and georgous...Way better than MKvsDCU and even better than DA and Armageddon and well, all previous games except maybe MK2. She finally looks like royalty ánd a ninja assassin at the same time...And Jade...just looks..plain..and boring...

Any way, I'd like to learn more about the other characters instead of focusing on Mileena all the time...and I'm wondering..why is that?!

I do like this vignette, but agree with others that they could of shown more of her instead just her psychotic side. What's s'up with Mileena stretching her arm towards Shao Kahn in that one scene? Is that showing her child-like admiration for her "father"? Or, demonstrating her submissiveness to him? Or, even worse, does she have an Electra Complex? Maybe I'm reading way into this. Happy note, Mileena with long hair is pretty bad-ass, I like.

What did the Tweet say? And why do you use the word "apparently"? Was there another hint pointing to us getting similar vignettes for all characters in the actual game? (Sorry, I don't have Twitter... Facebook has already consumed two thirds of my soul, I gotta keep some of it...)

Mileena is pretty much being put up-front in the spotlight that once belonged to Sonya and Kitana, at least for promotional purposes. I suppose it makes a certain degree of sense, given how they're trying to sell the "dark, gritty, violent" new take on the series, and Mileena is far darker, grittier, and more violent than Sonya and Kitana.

Some people think Kitana looks good, others think she looks way too bland, others that she resembles a belly dancer rather than an assassin or royalty. I personally was not impressed by the simplicity of her attire, and as for Jade, I like her, but am also not impressed by how similar she looks to Kitana overall. I feel they put much more effort in differentiating the male ninjas than the female ninjas.

In response to a tweet saying "6 characters from the site - are they only one, who get all this type of content? It's not fair! Others must have too.", the MK_MortalKombat account replied "The game is full of content for all characters. We are not going to give away too much. :)"

I used the word "apparently" because, as you can see, that's very vague. It does kinda imply that everyone in the game will get stuff like what's been released on the web so far, but it doesn't confirm it outright.

I'm happy Mileena's gotten so much attention. She was always "second fiddle" to Kitana most of the time, but what I see of her thus far is delightfully devious and demented.

I think a lot of people are taking her "child-like killer" mindset too far. She's not mindless, she's merciless. The vignette shows that she has an animal savagery that she doesn't even pretend to control. It's who she is and she loves it. The image of her tearing a victim apart and EATING him was amazing.

But also her relationship with Kahn shows that, yes, she DOES have a softer side. He's her "father" and the only person she'll listen to. He may see her as his own personal attack dog, but she sees him as her father, the one she admires, loves, fears, and respects, and who will do anything to get his approval. The image of her by his feet, reaching up to him as he sits coldly on his throne ignoring her is, actually, rather powerful and poignant in a twisted way.

I loved her moves and savagery. Yeah, when she impales Kitana, then leaps on her later and removes the sai only to stab her in the neck with it a few times, I was amazed at the attention to detail. Her fatality also was much better than the "Kira-clone" one I heard before. Sure, it is a bit similar, but it's different enough for me to enjoy it.

Topping that off with the news of an MK Album, just like The Immortals did ages ago, is great, and Mileena's twisted dark dance club theme fits her perfectly.

I loved this vignette, and I can't wait to see more of Mileena and the others. Here's hoping Kitana has one soon to balance out her twisted doppelganger.

Finally, her true self is released!!!

She was never wild in MK:Gold, Deception only showed her slightly deranged, this though... This is finally what I've been waiting to see from this character.

I really liked the picture with her and Kahn together. That was cool!
