I have always loved the UMK3 costumes for the ladies. Jade looks smokin' hot! I too wish she were a little darker in complexion. Maybe it's really Khameleon?

So far the klassic skins are for the pallet swap ninja's but I really hope they do this for other characters too. Even if just DLC. I'd prefer MK1 Kano and Old man MK1 Shang Tsung any day.

I heard somewhere that Shang's alt would be an old man, which I'm very happy about.

I'm also very happy about Jade, who is tied with Shang as my favorite char. She looks awesome here, even though the costume is from what I think is the crappiest game of the first three, I'm very impressed.

And I think she looks great lighter-skinned. It validates what I've been saying all along, that although, yeah yeah, she's Edeeeenian, she's more like an Arab than a Black. Until Deception, she never had black features, and even then, it was arguable.

MK1 Shang Tsung, yes. MK1 Kano...meh.

MK1 Johnny Cage? Maybe. MK1 Liu Kang? No.

MK1 Raiden? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I'm very happy with the inclusion of "retro" and "classic" costumes because they are nothing but "extras" and a great service to the fans (even if we have to pay for them which sucks).

If they were the actual "alternates" or "primary" costumes I'd be really disappointed because we've already seen these designs for ages.

Anyway, I'm one of the people who think that Kitana will look much much better in this costume than the current one she has. IMO, this one has (by far) more style, more design, and more of a real "assassin" feel to it than the thing she is currently wearing.

And I like the updated bun.

The best thing about the MK2 costumes is the hair. The MKU ninja swimsuit is a much better update.

Perhaps the appeal of the UMK3 ninja girl looks for the design team was the lack of a hair-animating challenge. Buns are much easier to animate than flowing MKII locks.

i kinda always thought the bun defined jade. I hope millena and kitana get the mk 2 outfit, i know this one has more features, but for them all to have the bun just dosent feel right.

Edit: By the way, my Skarlet/blonde Jade/black sig is a commentary on fans (like me) who can only see a character one way and are not willing to entertain any other possibility. So it is with the black Jade people, as it is with me and blonde Skarlet.

There's your answer. In every other appearance,including the actual in-game sprites and models,her skin tone is considerably lighter than Jade's. Go back and try again.

Except it doesn't,because people who demand that Jade be dark-skinned actually have consistent canonical portrayal of a character over the course of several games to back up their argument. And then there's some inane babbling about "a different way a character should be seen",even if that character only actually exists in a fantasy world inside your head.

I think at this point you need to start adding "ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL" disclaimers to your Skarlet sig.

Also,if you're willing to just take an established detail of a character's portrayal and throw it out the window for the sake of "other possibilities",then you shouldn't be opposed to the idea of turning Shang Tsung into a French pastry chef in a pink leotard. Because POSSIBILITIES,amirite?

I would say her skin tone is like a deep caramel; almost light milk chocolate Southeast Asian or something. I do agree she is noticeably lighter, but she is still more tan than the other MK women.

I don't claim to have any ownership on Skarlet as a character, despite the fact that I've done more to advance her as a character than anyone else that I'm aware of. Your attempts to belittle me just exasperate me. I'm not a rabid fanfic author. I'm not a hopeless deluded idiot with an imaginary girlfriend. I am protective of my idealized version of the character because I have put a lot of thought into the character. But if this red-haired ninja lady turns out to be the real canon Skarlet, I'm ready to accept that. I'm not saying "ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL" and I never will.

Jade has always been dark-skinned, yes. But there a hundred ethnicities that are equally dark-skinned. And I'm also aware that she is an Edenian and, as such, our ethnicities don't apply. Saying she's black is no different than saying Sindel is white. Or Skarlet is blonde.

You turned her hair blonde instead of red or black... How much thought did you actually have to put into it before you decided that?
