My logic was that Sub-zero was the only one assigned to specifically kill Shang Tsung in the original canon, it would make sense for him to be sneaky and stealthy moreso than his Lin Kuei counterparts, who might be just around for support purposes in the completion of Sub-Zero's mission.

But still, You send one guy in stealthily, with another stealthy guy for back up, and then just for the hell of it 2 dudes with grenades and flamethrowers? Kind of undoes the stealthy approach...especially since Raiden's vid shows they are present for the opening ceremony for the tourney.

Like I say, I'm not bitching or complaining or even saying I don't like anything here... just think it is worth some discussion (even if it is tongue in cheek). Heavy weaponry seems a touch out of place.

Someone fill me in on how this topic went from Human cyborgs...to the advantage of guns?

Because one human cyborg has missile launchers and a fricken' flame thrower...which begs the questions...why didn't most other kombatants just bring in a gun?

I didn't look through all 17 pages to see if anyone pointed this out already or not but...

The clown doesn't just use Joker's fatality... if you look closely, his whole model from the neck down is Joker's model retextured.

The suit (IE. The model) is actually identical... they just recolored the skin and gave it a new head. Check out the tie and the vest. They're the same.

If I had to GUESS... I'm thinking they just thought the uncensored fatality was so awesome that they wanted to bring it to the fans, since we only got the censored and/or toned down version in the last game... using Joker would present legal problems, so they just made a generic evil clown and slapped it on Shang Tsung? Maybe? (Did this ever get confirmed? Is this one of Shang's fatalities?)

In any event, since 90% of his model is re-used Joker parts, they obviously didn't put a whole crapton of effort into him... so I'm guessing he honestly isn't anything to worry about. Probably some kind of small easter egg, and not a full-on character or anything.

From what I've seen on youtube of the Joker's fatality it was pretty sweet...so I wouldnt mind if it found a way in somehow.

From what someone pointed out earlier Shang's fatality training mode says something like
"shang's picked up a few fatality's from past opponents" so I'm guessing the clown thing is for that.

on another flame thrower note...how would it work if he was a regular playable alt...and one of the many split in half fatalities was performed on him? What happens to the tanks? shouldn't they be spraying pressurized napalm?

I've noticed that. I think they're overthinking some of this stuff personally. Lately they seem to be really trying to explain EVERYTHING! I kinda dug the idea that in this world people could develop magical abilities and that it was an ordinary thing. When they really spell out every detail it kind of takes away from the mystique

For real i mean when it comes to stuff like that its best to just let peoples own minds just kind of come up with something cuz if you think of it it makes sense for everyone. i would have just assumed he learned some crazy shit from raiden or in netherealm
