Looks like the vampire fad is not going away just yet. A new film called vampire academy comes out 2014. The team is the team behind mean girls, batman returns, real steel, transformers, bend it like Beckham, heathers. Fans of the film are saying its different to twilight. I haven't read the book so i cant say.

You want a kick ass vampire story, go play the Legacy of Kain series. THAT is how you do a proper vampire story.

Here, and if you don't want to fully play the game, since I doubt you want to, here's part one of a playthrough for the entire game:

^^^winged vampires are so old skool. And that's a low budget ps1 game. I don't mind low budget storymodes but that's too low budget for me personally.

The word is "school," you know, it's that building that kids, teens, and adults go to, to get educated.

And low budget, are you fucking kidding me? Well, I did expect you to insult anything that shows something better than your shit, no surprise there. Get your head of your fucking ass for once, that's all I'm gonna say.

Vampires being lanky, pale, supposedly-handsome-and-seductive dudes is WAY more "old school" than vampires with wings.

Or perhaps you've never heard of Count Dracula.
Hell, Twilight wasn't doing anything that Anne Rice didn't do forty years ago, her porn-for-girls just took a lot longer to get made into a movie. And the trashy romance novel genre in general existed long before that.
P.S.: Going back to something that was said on page 2, Nightwolf having the power to turn into a wolf is NOT non-canon. Most Animalities are, sure, but his ain't, it's been mentioned in story text. Liu's dragon form is also canon.

Ironically, Dracula is described with darker skin, a large nose, hairy palms and overall a not quite pleasant sight. Only the movies and subsequent literary ideas made him handsome.

I would argue that winged vampires may NOT be as recent as you think, but only in the eastern hemisphere. Hell, there is a vampire that is a flying decapitated head.

If you're gonna get rid of her wings and headband then she will be a plain looking vampire. That's why i said a vampire samurai or a vampire pirate (vampirate). Mk wont be able to make a 'real' vampire because it would crossover to looking like baraka. This look would fit a Mk vampire but it crosses over to barakas look.

This design might work because its a lot less like barakas look compared to the two above.

So if Mk decides to make nitara plain then its better shes a vampire samurai or a vampire pirate. If they try to build on vampire look for nitara it will crossover to barakas look.

I'm done arguing against your stupid logic. With this final post, I will never feed your trolling again.

Nitara already has a good design. She is NOT a pirate, and is NOT a samurai. She never will be for this reason;

Because she isn't either of them. It's as simple as that. They've already developed her story and reconning this would drive the fanboys crazy. We don't want to see our favorite character's story retconned completeley.

Her MKDA primary already looks like a pirate.

I kinda agree. It's a bit of a mess to me. They never really hit a consistent theme with it. The bandana and do pseudo-swashbuckler vest kinda have a pirate flavor. But then she's got the oriental sticks in her hair and some more medieval elements.

Nitara's success, for me, is completely based upon what moveset they give her in the future. She needs to be fierce, almost Mileena-esque. A leaping neck bite that steals health. A spinning Izuna Drop (they totally missed that opportunity with Hawkgirl's super). Feral slashes and swipes with her claws. Wall dives. Things like that. No blood projectile. No projectile at all. Just unique, technical, synergistic and badass moves.

She's got lots of potential. So no, we don't need a better vampire character. We just need to make the most of the one we have now, and at that point, she'd be a fucking sick character.

Well here's the thing about that outfit.

According to the artist who designed it, his intention was to make her look like a female version of Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy 7. (And I'm sure the oriental elements like the kanji on the wings and hair chopsticks are just there because everything in MK is supposed to look a bit oriental, that's kinda the series' whole theme.)

In practice, however...a puffy sleeved red coat with a high collar and the headband that functions like an eyepatch pretty much says "Yarr, I be sailin' the seven seas, ya salty dog" whether you want it to or not. (And there's something vaguely pirate-y about that studded bra I can't quite put into words...)

I think Nitara alone would make a nice addition to the roster once more. But i don't feel the need to see a forced storyline based on what you see and hear about Vampires in pop culture these days.

Assuming she remains neutral, maybe a work on her persona. But she was already depicted as a somewhat treacherous char. A more fierce fighting habit, with appearing really nice as a mean to achieve her goals wouldn't make her so unique but not less interesting either imo. Her primary goal and plot weren't totally bad. I'd work on it a little, maybe a different Outcome, and/or different means to achieve it. It all screams to have a deeper look into her story though. But she's naturally built to easily make enemies and alliances, without forcing a new character in. If it happens that a new char is related to her, friend or foe, so be it. But i wouldn't feel any need to force it. As for the love story. There's no need for it.

I like her primary costume. But in terms of look, i'd start by working on her alt, and try to use this one for sure. If it means giving her a little more clothes, why not. Her alt would be my pick.

I say scrap nitara. By making her like a vampire she would crossover to mileena. As mileena alredy bites her victims. A male vampire pirate would just be more badass than a female one Imo. Or make nitara more like a samurai. So u have mileena a ninja tarkatan who bites her victims then u have nitara a vampire samurai who bites her victims. First post has been updated. Now with Egyptian vampires.

How would a pirate even fit into MK in the first place?

Pirate- in the sensical term- means a plunderer of the sea, a hunter of booty on the ocean. Now, who in MK traverses the ocean? Really, when was the last time we had a water-specific place in MK? The closest we ever came was the Nethership's concept. We need to introduce multiple characters, or as I call it, the Deception route, to succesfully add this character to the story.

So, you know where I stand. This idea is unecessary to Nitara. She already exists as what she is and is already in the story. You can't scrap that. She's fine the way she is. Just improve her design a bit more, not her story.

A pirate by itself wouldn't work but a hybrid pirate vampire would work or a vampire samurai or a Egyptian vampire. That will improve nitaras design it gives her more character and they have more to work with seeing as now shed a hybrid vampire.

Nitara was never an Hybrid, neither a pirate. And no, i don't think making her, or any other new character/new vampire an hybrid, a pirate, samuraï or any other class or race would automatically make her a better Vampire since it has nothing to do with being a vamp or not at first.

That said, until i see him, i'm not convince a male Vampire would be more badass. Edward? He is everything but badass imo.

@LucaTurilli

Seems he is. As for the question of Nitara crossingover to Mileena, yeah Leena has the bite, seing as how they talked about Nitara not being the only Vampire in her realm/Universe at first and were thinking about introducing a male, i don't see how this male or a new Vampire, crossingover to Nitara or Mileena would be a problem. Unless we one day end up with 20 biting chars.

Wasn't Skarlet inspired by 2 or 3 MK females? And she's not that bad from what i've seen of her. Not a fan but she's ok.

Nitara would be better if she was hybrid. Because mileena is hybrid ninja and tarkatan. We have 4 ninja females from mk9, one female soldier, one four armed freak (sheeva) and then we have sindel the Queen. So if Nitara was hybrid vampire and pirate it would make her look more complete. Or a new vampire samurai. I think either of those ideas are good for new female mk characters. We need to move them away from ninja look mk is known for.
