Let's pretend that Kratos and/or Freddy Krueger could be involved in the Story Mode. How would events have played out if either one of them were there to intervene?

---Kratos
Kratos could come into the picture as early as the MK1 period, as his biography states he was summoned and put under a spell by Shao Kahn; ripped from his own world after Shao sacrificed his vanguard to take Kratos and enslave him. The spell by itself could not contain the God of War, Kratos soon regained his free will and vowed to destroy the Konquerer who arrogantly thought could control him.

There is no definite answer in his biography as to when Shao Kahn did this, so you could have Kratos enter the MK universe at either MK1, II, or 3. Judging by Kratos' weapons, he was taken from his world during the God of War III period. But when exactly in the events of God of War III isn't certain.

---Freddy Krueger
According to Frederick's biography, he took action when Shao Kahn was stealing Earthrealm's souls; souls Freddy considered his own, which likely means during the invasion of Earthrealm. Freddy battled the Emperor in the Dream Realm but Kahn was too strong and pulled Krueger out of the Dream Realm. This could've transpired before Kabal's unfortunate encounter with Kintaro or afterwards.

So how do you think the events of the Story Mode would have played out if either one or both of them were there to interfere with the events? Could make for an interesting scenario. Both of them are after Shao Kahn, so their motives and reason for being there are tied to him. You could have the events of MK9 be drastically altered through the involvement of Kratos and/or Freddy, or you could have their roles could be minor and relatively impactless to the story.
