Y'know, I have been working on something like that in my spare time.

I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with it after MK9 comes out though because 9 is clearly an alternate universe, so it's like...do I go ahead and say, for example, "Well if Smoke's name is Tomas and he got his powers in a cult sacrifice in this universe, it must've been the same in the old canon too" and add that stuff in? Or do I try to keep the two timelines completely separate from one another? There's suddenly this big, weird gray area with some characters now, y'know?
And whether I do or I don't, posting it then invites all kinds of people who will nitpick or go "where is this from?" or "Are you sure that's canon?" or "That's not how it went in this game or that game!" and I don't want to write it in the form of a wikipedia entry and cite sources every five words, I just want to drop a giant block of narrative so people can read it with no interruptions from one paragraph to the next.
Y'know, if I did post something like that, people would just have to accept "This is one man's ATTEMPT to make it all linear and make sense, some of it is conjecture and educated hypothesis, don't argue, just go with it" and you'll NEVER get people on MKO to not argue. I hate having to argue back. I get sick of it and that's what stops me from doing that sort of giant project.

Is there a Kamidogu for every realm? If so, what happens to them when their respectively realm gets destroyed, or merges with another realm?


This has always been a point of contention for me too

with the announcement of the Kamidogu, I immediately made the assumption that that orb that Nitara was looking for in Deadly Alliance would be one. But it never came to be BUT IIRC if Nitara had actually gotten it and destroyed it, it would have free'd her realm from Outworld.

I think there was reference to another one of these things in Deception's Konquest mode around the time you come across Bo' Rai Cho again in Outworld

This led me to think, that maybe every realm DOES get a Kamidogu, but in order for them to have the Infinity-Gauntlet type affect they must represent an independant realm. If they do not represent an independant realm, the only thing that these Kamidogu can accomplish is freeing them from realm mergers by destroying the kamidogu. So Zaterra, Vampire Realm, etc. could have their own Kamidogus but they weren't needed in Deception because they don't represent one of the six independant realms.

Then with the destruction of a dependant realms Kamidogu, the energies emitted from the realm splitting away from say Outworld, would create a new Kamidogu, that would be recquired if the kamidogu ritual from MKD would need to be performed again since this realm would now be an independant one.

I think I went around in circles a few times there, but I think my point was made

There are definitively only 6 Kamidogus (Though Shinnok's Amulet somewhat qualifies as a very makeshift seventh because it, like them, is a weapon made by an Elder God). Not every realm has one and they're not really tied to the realms they're hidden in.

Nitara's orb has nothing to do with the Kamidogus. The story of the orb is that every time Shao Kahn merges a realm with Outworld, one of these orbs is created for some reason. It's a focus point for the magic that binds Outworld and the other realm together. Kahn hides these orbs so people can't find them and free their realms, at least not easily. Nitara of course did end up finding and smashing her's, setting her realm free.

Kitana and Sindel also likely had to acquire and smash such an orb at the end of MK3 to free Edenia.

I really wish they didn't pull the heelfaceturn on all that story developement after Deception, they kinda just went......and then EVERYBODY FIGHTS....and THEN BATMAN showed up cause, why not?

I'm kinda in a wait and see mode for this game, I really appreciate all the expansion on the MK1-3 mythos, but all the spoilers have me sooooo wary about where this is all headed
