What if the voice acting is for the next action adventure installment based on MK3? I mean, who's to say the same voice actors can't be used for both games?

The Ad says MORTAL KOMBAT 9 VIDEO GAME tho. Also Sonya's voice actress mentionned finishing voice over work last september, it fits with the time frame of the ad going up last June.
Very interesting if these ads are true.
However Liu Kang better be in the new game. Don't pull another Deadly Alliance where only Kung Lao is in.
It's like having Only Ken and not Ryu in the next Street fighter.
And I for one hope they won't do the Mk vs Dc story mode again. It's not needed in a fighting game. I've not even finished the DC side of the Mk vs Dc story mode. For me the story got really convoluted and uninteresting after Mk3. With all the mediocre and random characters they threw in there. Boraicho training Liu Kang? What?
If the intro to Shaolin Monks is anything to go by, the Mk1 storyline will just be a mess now with no real tournament and everybody just fighting all at once. I never cared for the war storylines and all that. A fighting game naturally lends itself to tournaments.
Just leave it a tournament as it was, and play up more of the dark and mystical asian feel.

I don't think I believe they're real.
If everything in those descriptions were to be done in a single game's story mode, going all the way from Shang as an old man to Shang getting de-aged, to Kitana's betrayal of Kahn to Jax getting his arms and Sektor undergoing Automation, do you have any idea how long that would be?
Not to mention the game's roster would be the same size as in Trilogy.
There's no way they've had enough time to develop that much stuff.

Yar, that really seems like MK3 era. So either MK9 will be including many MK1-3 characters, or its a MK:SM 2 like game.
Honestly I'm not (well wasn't) completely sure the characters stated here will be in MK9..but who knows. Is there any more of these at all? I know i've seen them somewhere..but cant remember what thread (topic)?
But its does say its for MK9? ahhhh i just wanna know some damn info on this game already haha. well we shall soon know, hopefully, ha.

You guys are still going along with the existing pressence of characters. IF its a "REBOOT", just because MK3 characters are in it doesnt mean it will happen form the known MK3 storyline.
The cyborgs wer epar tof the Lin Kuei before cybernetic automation had taken place. The could be represented in the MK1 time era very easily if this is a reboot. Im not as keen on other characters pasts but I would immagine its also possible.
This doesnt mean were getting MK3 or even MK2 for that matter. It could very well be a reboot fo the MK1 era with expanded story and characters. Whether or not I believe its happening is another story. I believe this is a reboot, but theres a sequel that could also be a reboot of sorts...
we'll see....

If this is the MK1 era. I believe they will be in the alter part of their human era. I would immagine theyd keep this plot device in tact as it is extremely relivant to subzero AND noob Saibot. So I would immagine Sektor may be the only one to be turned at this point IF any. otherwise they would still be human members of the lin kuei.
unless my heads not on straight today.
unless my heads not on straight today.
I'd rather see them going back to the simpler designs for the characters myself. I think they've been way to over designed in the 3d games. Way too fancy clothes with too much stuff just for show, like Scorpions new obsession with having skulls and spikes everywhere. Scale it back a little.
Just because graphics are at a stage where you can have an incredible amount of shiny stuff on the characters doesn't mean you should.
How many games has it been since Sub-Zero and Scorpion looked like actual ninja assassins?

No offense but your statement "since it's Warner's first MK game they probably wanna play safe" does not make any sense. Clearly the same team is working on the game. Why would they want to play it safe? It is the WB we are talking about here...a well built and respectable company. If I were the MK team I would be trying to press forward and push issues to blow them away for an awesome impression. If I were employing someone that is what I would expect and if I was the employed, I would damn well step up my abilities and push myself harder. Granted that is me.
As for the whole reboot debacle...I refuse to believe it until I see it. Until then this is merely a rumor.

People have mentioned it. Like, a dozen times.
This is a no-brainer. There was a sequel to Shaolin Monks based on MK3; this list corresponds with MK3-specific story features; that project was ultimately canceled. This has nothing to do with MK8 (When I first saw this document, there was no MK9 at the top of it. It's possible that I missed it, but the most likely scenario is that it was photo shopped in).

The Saolin Monks sequel was canceled very early in development (concept art stages), They wouldnt be casting voices alredy at that time.
EDIT: Shaolin Monks sequel was cancelled before the Voice over ad went up, so its MK9...http://www.trmk.org/news/12706/cancelled_mortal_kombat_adventure_game_details.html

The document is dated May 2009. Which seems more likely: that they were preparing voice auditions for Fire & Ice, or that the cast and story for MK8 had been finalized in Spring 2009? I'll agree that former seems like a stretch, but the latter seems logically impossible.

That would either mean the document is fake, unless (again) you believe the story and cast of MK8 were finalized in spring 2009.
I don't mean to antagonize anyone. If you share the above sentiments, I'll happily agree to disagree, but I must ask: do you really believe the story/cast was finalized in May 2009? I mean, if they were willing to codename a project that was hardly greenlighted, don't you think they'd do the same for their headline project? "Mortal Kombat 9 Video Game" has n00b written all over it.
