Mortal Kombat 2011 is really looking good indeed! I'm guessing by looking at the video, the new character is Smoke. Hmmm....or maybe it might be NOOB.

Personally, I don't think it's characters fighting, but as I said before, an Oni in captivity. Now I suck with any sort of image enhancement, so I'm gonna try to show you this way.

So yeah, first you see his eyes, and then he reaches his arms outside the cage as if either to plea for release, or to try to grab one of the fighters for a bite or something. So go check for yourself, 'cause you can't really judge by the pictures... they're more of a guideline.

Ugh Sonya's X-Ray suits her character and her old school specials but it is just so boring to watch.

What I don't like about Sonya's X-ray move is that after she flips Reptiles head into the ground, they zoom back and Reptile is just magically standing their .... it would be nice if they actually showed him getting back up.

Anybody have pics of the fighters in the background of the pit? Is one of them just Frost being used as a place holder??

If you watch the video on youtube, it's much clearer. In the fight between Sub-Zero and Scorpion on the pit stage, it's clearly Frost fighting Sareena in the background.

In the Sonya x-ray display, it's clearly Goro on the throne, not Kintaro, and an oni (very similar to Moloch) behind the bars.

In the Sonya/Cryax pit fight, it's clearly Frost fighting someone resembling Daegon (unless it's a costume update to an older character).

I don't know if this means Frost or any of those characters will be in the game though, since Boon only mentioned one character reveal in his post. Remember the background fighters in the original Pit II stage in MKII weren't playable, they were just in the background.

I don't mind if Frost is in the game; she was always fun to play as imo, but if she's going to take a roster spot from another character, I'd rather they just have Sub-Zero instead.

It is far too dark and blurry to tell.

And besides, if it is new playable character, it wouldn't be in the background of the arena, like Tanya or Deagon.

So then....Sareena is the revealed character? Are we sure thats her? Not a Kira place holder?

what makes you think she's the reveal though frost was back there too

hey heartoffire watch the video again and at 2:57 tell look for the message that it says after scorpion wins the match and you will figure out who the hidden character hint is.

Looks like to me, smoke grabbing emac lol. but that could just be me.

Another reason why I think those aren't fighters, is the perspective. Just imagine invisible lines on the floor. Line 1 is where Reptile and Sonya are, then we have line 2 where that cage is, and then line 3 where Goro is sitting. You can't have the characters at line 2 appear smaller than both line 1 and 3. Now if that cage (line 2) was placed behind Goro's Throne (line 3), then it could hav been possible... but not now. It's just a downsized Oni. If you think about it, remember the eyes in all the Goro's Lair versions? We even got confirmation those belong to Oni if you look at MK:SM.

So yeah... wishful thinking about it being Smoke.

Edit: Just saw the Mileena vs Kitana fatality video (from the widget), and it confirms it's an Oni. You can see the little bugger jumping at the bars of his cage at 00:39 - 00:41.

Well, I'm hoping that Smoke is in the game even if the image I shown doesn't represents that.

I'm sure that given the history of Goro's Lair, the figure behind the bars is an Oni.

assuming these arent randomly placed background character, im deffinately saying Oni after seeing what I saw.

Thats just an arm of an Oni just look at the Arena Render from Game Informer. The only place where we may have seen a new character is one of the ones hanging on the spiked pillars in the pit.

Or whatever flies past the moon.

Thats not just an arm, the entire character model does some moving around and it looks as though you see both legs at one point. some really wierd moving going on there.

It kinda look like motaro but hopefully we get Cybor smoke, no need for a grey scorpion in this game.

just curious, does reptile have a tail? cuz if he doesnt..i THINK the clue might be in the shadow's trailer thing.. that part where a shadow kicks down another shadow, and the shadow taking the kick has a tail

That's the flap of cloth that covers Sub-Zero's ass.
Besides, that scene was footage from the "Shadows" trailer which is months and months old. The reveal Ed was talking about would have to be somewhere in the new footage.

Oh..I see..well under the vid in this thread where he challenged us to find the new reveal said somewhere in the video, so I guess I misunderstood it.

You never know, mixing old stuff like that trailer with this new interview and saying its somewhere in there.. my other guesses were raiden, shang tsung or smoke. Raiden cuz when you load up this thread there's a big pic of him before you click the video(i dont know if that was intentionally put there or not), shang tsung cuz you could see him before scorpion and sub zero are fighting in his palace and smoke cuz well..there was smoke in the PIt where Kira and Frost were fighting lol. My other thought would be Kano, since he was actually talking about Sonya and Jax from the 2D games and Sonya and Jax have a history with Kano..

Otherwise I can't really think of anything else EDIT: I watched it again and I noticed at 1:37 when Scorpion uppercuts Sub Zero, there's smoke that forms a kinda V shape.. maybe Sheeva?
