R U saying that I can play the PSP vita on my 32 Sony Bravia ?

If the game turned out being something other than MK9 and I can actually play the PSP Vita on my tv then I am all for it.

I haven't bothered with handheld game systems in decades...literally. I prefer console and pc in that order. If I have an itch for a handheld game I usually like them in the flavor of smartphone apps.

So like so many others on this site, I'm looking forward to the other two surprise announcements Boon alluded to in the hopes that one of those involves a console release. Crossing my fingers its an adventure game since Boon ruled out a UMK9.

Yeah, and you can also hook up a fighting stick, so it's like an actual console.

Jonny and Sonya :)

I love you.

I've got an idea.
What if MKV is sort of recreation of the MKM? I mean the storyline of the game is based on the MKM - Sub-Zero fights Shinnok and Quan Chi, but this time it is a junior Sub who do this.
He starts as a cyborg, then acquire his human form, unites with Scorpion and together they defeat Shinnok and Quan Chi, effectively preventing recreation of the events of MK4 in MK10. And MK10 will a completely new storyline.

It based around what Boon said that MK10 will not be a remake of MK4.

I'm not sure who's right or wrong. But i keep reading over the net news about the MK9 release confirmed for vita. I'm still pretty sure there were no confirmation of that yet but am i mistaken?

It could be a remake of Mythologies, yet i still wonder why they wouldn't remake the MK4 to MKD timeline if this new episode was in fact Mythologies.

Mortal Kombat Vitality could consist of two games: Mortal Kombat (2011) and some Vitality expansion. That could be a game that utilizes PSP Vita's features with special game modes. Otherwise the name wouldn't have Vita in it. Ultimate Mortal Kombat for DS consisted of two games as well (UMK3 and Puzzle Kombat).

It's always more satisfying and exciting to here a new game is announced for a system you already own rather than one that doesn't technically exist yet and will cost you hundreds of dollars (beyond their overpriced memory sticks).

I hope it's just a SSFIV 3D thing where it's a gimped, portable version of the game we all already love rather than something with a new story, new characters, and new essential features.

You guys need to realize that portable gaming is huge. I'm not really a fan, and I only got a PSP for the rare exclusives like the GoW and MGS(who found their way on the PS3 in HD lol) but there's a PSP or DS version of much title so it's completely normal that Netherrealm Studio will release a game for the Vita. Just because you're not interested in buying a portable console doesn't mean this news is bull****. It's just not aimed at you.

And yeah, if it's a port, there will be additional content to convince people to buy it again. When Deception was released for PSP, they added Jax, Kitana, Blaze and Frost. I'm not trying to sound aggressive, but that's how business works. Deal with it, I guess?

Yeah, I saw that too. Strange. I don't think he responded when someone posted that picture that's been floating around with the logo to his twitter though. So who knows.

Honestly, I'm kinda getting sick of waiting. Hopefully we'll hear something at the VGA's.

That's what I read about it (I believe it was in GameInformer a few issues ago, though it could've been on IGN as well). It'll have an HDMI port that you can use to hook it up to your TV. Personally, I love that idea, as it basically adds another video game system to your household that you can take on the road. I haven't seen how much the memory sticks will be yet, but judging by the reactions I've seen, I can't say I'll be all that thrilled with the pricetags on those.

More like they were half-assed in the game.

Maybe MK Vitality is just a working title or a false title created for the reporters and fans, to hide the true nature of the game, hence the response?

That's not even far-fetched; there is no game called MK Vitality in the works any longer because they have now gotten the final name. That, or the game is already finished and it is not in the works (anymore) but this would sound less likely.

So no Vitality? Couldn't they at least port the game? It's Unreal engine, how hard could it be.

We don't even know what genre this game is, less what engine its using.

Oh my bad, I meant, shouldn't they at least port MK9, How hard could that be? NRS doesn't have to do it, they can get another developer just like they did with Unchained.

Many games have been ported to Vita yet so it could probably do fine. I would prefer seeing the all DLC cast added in the roster though, in case they don't intend on making more DLC for that Vita edition.

I found a video of coverage from the London showing and at the 2:38 mark, there is a much clearer shot of the MK: Vitality logo.

Here's the link to an interview.

Gamespot interviewed Sony director of hardware marketing John Koller. He said that the games that are set to release relatively soon after the PS Vita's launch are "MLB, then we got MORTAL KOMBAT, then Resistance, then Little Big Planet, then Call of Duty, and Assassin's Creed."

So yeah, confirmed.

I can't see what type of game it could be if not just a port of MK9. But that being said, MK will celebrate 20 years later this year and there are no release dates rumored for that Vita related game if i'm correct.

I fear the worst. A cool new episode in order to celebrate the 20 years of the franchise that was not even announced for consoles yet. A compilation of older games would calm my fear down.
