Mortal Kombat Vitality Confirmed!

Mortal Kombat Vitality was confirmed by Sony at their PS VITA Showcase Event which was held yesterday, in London.

During the course of the event, Sony revealed various game titles that will be available for launch as well as the game titles that are currently in development. Mortal Kombat is in the list and the "Vitality" logo was revealed as part of a presentation slide. It has also been announced that the PS Vita launch date will be February 22, 2012 for PAL territories.

It is still unknown what kind of game "Vitality" will be, for the game was not playable during the event and it has not been officially announced by Warner Bros. Details remain minimal and for now we can only make guesses as to what it could be.

Meanwhile, Ed Boon, co-creator of Mortal Kombat, has been quite active on his Twitter commenting with teasers or clues regarding future announcements and surprises that are very likely to be related to Mortal Kombat. From his twitter:

@DanielQuan97 @noobde What's the surprise? Is about the movie, DLC's? Noobde: Actually we have 3 surprises (of varying degrees) brewing.

I don't care for ports to handheld systems, especially in the case of fighting games. I hate playing Mortal Kombat on a pad, let alone a gimped handheld. No point for me.

I'd also opt for the 3DS over the Vita if I were to get a handheld... provided they come out with a 3DS with 2 analog sticks... I'm not about to use that shitty add-on.

Anyway, seems like all the games on the PSP/Vita can be played on the PS1,2 or 3. At least the 3DS has some games that look worth buying the thing for.

Well, I can't say I'm too excited about this reveal either.

I can't afford another console and I'm definitely not planning to pay for the same game (assuming its MK2011) no matter how many updates or new characters it has....also, I'm not a fan of portable hand consoles for fighting games.

Assuming this is truly MK9, for Vita, but, with extra features and new characters, I really hope they make all of those available for DLC (PS3 and Xbox360) at some point (sooner is always better than later).

I'm definitely interested and curious to see what new characters will be added or what new features and extras might be created for this Vita version, but, it makes me a little annoyed to know it will all be exclusive for this new system that I am definitely not going to buy.

Like I said, this is simply assuming that all the rumors are true and that all that new motion capture work they've been doing is for the new characters or modes for the game...who knows, maybe they'll finally add those missing Fatalities and costumes that they failed to deliver for MK9. Maybe this was their plan all along? To save all of that exclusively for this title...hmmm.

If it's an MK9 port with new characters, I'll be sad. Especially if Bo' Rai Cho is included.

Unless they make it all DLC too, then I'll be happy.

Well, we kinda knew that NRS were gonna be doing SOMETHING for the Vita, back at one of their interviews, someone said, "We have a prototype PSP2 in the studio and we're trying different things out on it."
So yeah, even if it's a port of MK9, it'll still be awesome to have it on the go.
I just really, really hope the final title isn't "Vitality." Just because it's called "Vita" doesn't mean that every single game title on it has to be a pun on it.

It was annoying enough on the DS, when every single game title has a title that uses the "DS" acronym. That's a very Nintendo thing to do, though. I hope not to see it happen to the Vita though.

I agree with Luca and the rest of the world re: fighting on a handheld,
but I'm lying if I say I won't get this.

Once I finally get a PS Vita, that is.
It's hardly a day one purchase for me.
The 3DS will hold me over just fine.

Honestly, I'm just dying for them to announce a new MK Adventure game.

Shaolin Monks was an amazing, fun, and satisfying experience (except for the horrible voice acting, story rape, stupid plot, and everything related to the portrayal of the majority of the characters and the overall storyline) and I'd love to see a game that explores and exploits the MK mythology and wolrds the way that game did (with the beautiful and almost flawless portrayal of characters like the MKvsDC and MK9 storymodes delivered, of course).

However, I would actually prefer if they tackled a new kind of gameplay system. Something that could either resemble the gameplay style of "Tomb Raider" or "Uncharted" adventure games or even something along the lines of the flawless "Batman Arkham City/Assylum".

I wouldn't even mind a MK Kingdom Hearts gameplay experience!

I definitely hope for an MK Adventure game soon. But, the only thing that would kill it for me would be if its "Fire and Ice"...please, ANY character would do EXCEPT those two again (four, actually, because I'm also counting Liu and Lao).

But, there's actually a difference between both of those messages: The first one asks about MK9 AND MK in general. The second one only asks about MK9, specifically.

I don't own a PS Vita, I don't really care about the PS Vita and I'm not going to buy one, so I hope it won't get too much cool exclusive stuff, because then I would honestly feel cheated. But we'll see.

This can't be MK9 related...the leaked logo and even this one uses the Mythologies font/dragon.

Edit: Not sayin it's a mythologies port...but maybe a new Sub-Zero related game?

Whatever it is I'll pass. I don't have money nor desire to buy myself a console because of the one game. And besides the idea of playing fighting game on a portable console make me a bit queasy.

If that's a MK9 port I hope that all additional content will be put as DLC for MK9 or MK10. If that's a separate project I'd be a sad panda.

What to say, what to say?
...this is something I don't care for. Regardless of it being a MK9 port or NOT, it's not going to get me to want it for a handheld device. The thought of fighting games on portables sounds weird.
I felt like I was going to break the PSP thumbstick when I played a portable God of War game during those TS Rotating QTE events.

And IF it's a MK9 port with more characters, I'm going to laugh so hard.
If it's an exclusive action adventure game, I'm gonna be pissed.

Why can't Boon & co show a trailer, pictures or at least SOME INFO, we already knew a Vita game was in the works. Announcing the title is just....eh....I don't even know what to call it.....................insulting?

Agree,except if it is really Fire and Ice,I wouldn't mind,IF,and I say,IF we can play other characters too,kinda like in MK Shaolin Monks.I wanna play as Sub-Zero and Scorpion with new gameplay like in Batman Arkham City(can you imagine how awesome that would be) and playing cooperation mode with them. BUT! I also want to play as Kitana,Sonya and Jax,Cage,"Kung Fu twins" Lao and Kang,and even Thunder God. And I want it either God of War style or Batman Arkham City style,baby!

I don't want to buy another handheld. I really don't. I barely play the ones I've got.

If it's Mk9 with extra characters: No thank you. If it is a new adventure game...well, maybe I'll pick it up and wait for the price drop a few years down the line.
