Uhh...no. Not sure where you're getting that. There was Kia and Jataaka, but they survived all the way to Armageddon.
And Ashrah had sisters who she killed when she got the kriss.
I'm not sure how "killed" a demon can be anyway. The evil dead just go to Hell and demons already frickin' live there. They just get transported to some other, worse section and lose their human disguises.

It's kind of underwhelming either way. The character design looks a tad boring and too typical of MK females honestly. It literally doesn't interest me at all. All I can say is I hope it isn't Skarlet, because in my fandom I always envisioned her as a legitimate assassin rather than a bathing suit wearing poster girl.
Oh well if it is I guess. It's just a name I suppose.

This is why I hope it's not Skarlett, too. Maybe it's an incomplete design.. but damn... it looks awful.
I don't think it's "just a name" though. It's kinda the one name that has the same origin potential that Ermac has. If they're going to use it, they need to do it justice.

Ashrah, my bad. I got confused for a sec.

The team is gonna have alot to prove come April. I hope she's done justice, and is memorable enough

Well, Ermac was a mere palette swap to start with. His looks evolved over time to what we know now. I'm sure Skarlett's looks will so too, if this is indeed her.

Yeah, Ermac didn't even have a story in UMK3. He had a generic "mysterious warrior who's been hiding since the beginning finally comes out and beats everybody" bio and ending like Chameleon. He got the soul gestalt story in Trilogy, and Deception is really when he became interesting.
What sucks for any new character introduced in this game, like Skarlett, is being the ONLY one for whom this is their first appearance. Every other character has been in at least two games before, there's already a foundation laid for their personality. Starting as a complete blank slate, by comparison, means a lot more work needs to be done to make them the equal of the rest of the cast and it's just not likely to work right away. They're pretty well doomed to come across as someone who doesn't quite belong.

I'm going to take a quick step back. I reread this thread, and I'm still discovering people that believe our mystery character is only wearing a bra as a top. You might say I'm just splitting hairs, but just to make sure that we are all on the same page:
I edited the image just to highlight the details. Unless my eyes are deceiving me, the structure of her top is almost identical to Kitana's, with several key differences. I just wanted to clarify.
Anyway, back to what was being discussed. With the apparent connection to Ermac seen on her lioncloth, I am leaning towards the possibility that she is a new character and not a disguised kombatant. Based on that, I'll just inject some wishful thinking: I'd hope with the extra amount of effort NRS has taken to produce what they have so far, it's possible that our mystery lady will have a decent introduction into the series.
What I find myself thinking about is how will she be featured in the roster, assuming that she's playable at all.

Well by origin potential, I meant literally, not canonically. Like he started off as a rumor.
Regardless, this isn't the days of limited memory and whatnot. She doesn't have to start off with no story and as a simple pallet swap. She can be interesting and different from the get go.

My whole point is it's not memory limits that caused characters like Ermac to take two or three tries before they grew a personality. It's the team. The writing.
It literally takes them more than one game to make a new character interesting.
If you look at the original leg-teaser though, the design on the loincloth is slightly different from the placeholder model in that background pick. The upside-down "U" on the loin in the teaser is on the far right side of the loincloth, and you can see a slice of a center black line next to the upside-down "U". In the background model, the upside-down "U" is in the center of the loin-cloth.
It could just be a mere design change between concept art, and in-game appearance though.
Personally, the design seems very unoriginal and bland. Hopefully the place-holder model is yet to be fully fleshed out.

The model is like Kitana's, in the sense they lowered the polygon count while it's in the background. In game, Kitana's model is much more detailed and you can see the different textures, etc.

I think when blood and gore get into the mix on such a high level, something woudl be a little "woah" about seeing a 15 year old girl getting torn apart or buzzsawed by Kung Lao.
Talim is a killer character, one of my favourate infact. But its a completely different approach to development and mentality. I dont think these 2 franchises are ever ment to be compared to oneanother.
Im not putting SC down, I lvoe that series, I even play SoulBlade still.
I know what your saying though.
Whoever it is, I'm not sure we should be surprised by the costume design. It fits in perfectly with all of the female designs we have seen thus far (except Sindel because I am blatantly biased): plain and lots of skin. Disappointing for a new character to debut with, but it seems to be how the team believes all of the female characters should look now.
Another possibility: It could be the "Jade/Smoke from MK2" of this game. Instead of peeking behind a tree, she's there chained up in the background, and you would have to do something special to fight her. Once you do, maybe you unlock something, like an achievement. I for one would love to see the "?" return.
I just have this strange feeling that she will not be playable. Maybe DLC down the line, but not immediately.

I hope so too. However, Red Ho better be kickass.

One thing we could take from this. If it is Kira, it only increases the chances that they had time to get to Rain, Sheeva etc..
Im still expecting Sheeva to be revealed at Pax East Because of the Comm Managers tweets. (i WILL be there). Il probebly start a request thread late february for what to film. Il have my trusty cameraman with me so all should go good.

After reading the thread and seeing everyones arguments I will also have to agree that it is neither Kira, Ruby, Skarlett but a brand new never before seen character.

Edit: Checking some image, the logo on her cloth doesn't resemble Ermac design...

It's the same logo, but because of the length of the loin guard, it's a bit elongated.

I think people are taking this pattern relation waaay too far. It's not the exact same pattern. I think if it were elongated the top and bottom lines would still be touching the middle, and they would be elongated, instead of being separated.
It's just a very basic pattern... I wouldn't read much into it.
