Like I said in the other thread, ask yourself if that makes any sense. Scorpion killed the older brother before the start of this particular game, yet mysteriously he returns. Doesn't that sound familiar to you? That's the plot of Mortal Kombat 2. Scorpion thinks the man he killed has come back, and doesn't find out it really is his brother until later on. This is the same canon storyline we've seen before, they're just adding the element of mystery back into Sub-Zero even though most of us already know that plot point.

Its pretty much saying that from scorpions point of view because that is how he saw it when he was at the 2nd tournament and saw Subzero alive again.

Of course, there is the horrible possibility that in this timeline, Scorpion murdered the wrong one - the younger brother - somehow. Hence the term "unjust" being used, leaving room for it to be the elder. They never say which name belongs to which brother.

Not that I endorse this theory or anything. I don't see how it's possible, seeing as how one only took up the mantle after the other died.

I'm going to run and hide now. Also lie down.

This,actually.

Maybe they're just trying to make it sound all dramatic and badass at the cost of some story details, and the in-game bios will be quite different, but still.

Who cares? It's still sub-zero you play with, he still has the same moves and same style you've seen in the video.

I don't care if he has the same moveset. Story is just as important. And they just majorly fucked it up in my book. Very disappointed.

Eh, there's no reason for that. Raiden knowing the future can't alter things that happened a long time before the game took place. Older Sub-Zero is also going to become the assassin the Lin Kuei send to kill Shang Tsung, there's no reason why the story would rotate. There's also no mention of this Sub-Zero really even knowing who Scorpion was, and Scorpion bio indicates he took revenge on the person that murdered him, which is the old Sub-Zero.

Watch the video, it confirms it as the younger brother. What we've been seeing is what people think is the older Sub-Zero. It was a trick all along.

Hey ~Crow~ in this interview with Hector Sanchez, he said it was the Classic Sub-Zero in the game.

Well come on cheer up!

I'm sure he will appear in the storymode and so on... or did you actually wanted two roster slots wasted on one character?

It doesn't matter. Watch the video, it says otherwise and it's newer.

The official website bio stated clearly that the Sub-Zero is the younger one, and the older one became Noob Saibot. This video only confirms that.

I wanted the elder Zero to be "the" Sub-Zero in this game. Yes, even at the cost of younger one and Noob because he has so much potential storywise. Not to mention that it makes more sence if you go back all the way to MK1. Whats disappointing is that they stated this to be elder-Sub and now they take it back because obviously, they fucked up with the whole Noob thing.

I don't get this people...

Just like the special moves, the gameplay AND the characters themselves... the storyline is in for changes... you should take EVERY little bit of info you get with a tiny bit of salt... as its probably not the final product we get until the game comes out.

The only thing that is important and steady is the character releases, i'm sure they won't cut a character they shown us... they can still change looks, moves, fatalities AND story however.

Sweet. We finally got a video on another character besides Scorpion. I'm glad they stuck with the younger Sub-zero thus ruling out dumb changes to the series. Now when is he gonna get his scar?

@ Shinomune

Which sentence in that bio exactly confirms that this is the younger Zero? When did younger Zero die and come back from the afterlife? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Clad in blue, this formidable assassin began his deadly path on a mission from the Lin Kuei to murder Shang Tsung. That's when he was killed by Scorpion only to reappear as Noob Saibot, with his younger brother taking on the identity of Sub-Zero. Now he emerges with untold secrets of the afterlife propelling him fearlessly into the bloodiest battles.

It may be worth noting the video says the elder Subz was "unjustly" murdered....when he wasn't.
Naturally though, his younger brother isn't going to see it that way and probably doesn't know about his brother's history with Scorpion.

Maybe during the story mode, Subz & Scorpion will confront each other....Scorpion will learn this is a new Sub-Zero and Subz will discover his brother was a murdering bastard.
And maybe this will leave Subz questioning the nobility of the Lin Kuei....just in time for them to start their little cyborg plan.

Or maybe they're just retconning it to make the Scorpion/Sub-Zero feud keep going.

I understand it, I also rather see the older sub-zero in the storyline, but i'm happy with this aswel, as this cuts the horrid thought of 2 sub-zero's in the roster.

I'm happy with both ways.

If you look at it through a lens of MK2's story, that is the Sub-Zero in that game's storyline, is it not?

What the fuck are you talking about?

It's exactly the same story as in the original games so far. How is that "majorly fucked up" at all?

I don't think you don't understand how delicate this whole thing is. Younger Sub-Zero is arguably the most well-loved and by far and away the most developed character in the entire series. Even the most minor attempts to fuck with him this early in the storyline could have massive, disastrous consequences later on,and I'm afraid to even think that something might happen to prevent him from becoming the new Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei and discovering his cryomancer heritage. I'd rather have the team just leave his story alone instead of looking for ways to clumsily introduce Older Sub into the story and risk fucking everything up.

Besides,I still think we'll get to see at least a bit of Older Sub. He's just going to look (although not necessarily play or even sound) exactly the same, which I,frankly,am okay with.
