Oh god no. Hilary Swank REALLY has a man jawline. I think she'd be terrible. Soften up the edges a little, man! I hate to play the "this real life person should play this character!" game, but if it were to be anyone I'd choose this woman.

I hope this isn't a real argument. Because the zoomed pic is definately Sonya. And from what little I can tell about her she looks good.

From what was shown here it is def. Sonya. You need to take into consideration that colors distort a bit when recorded on a monitor so that explains the hair looking less blonde. If I had my plugin filters installed and had a few other utilities I could get a nice crisp enlarged capture. I might have to dig my discs out just so I can do it and show it off...am a bit lazy though atm.

I want to say it's Sindel but there doesn't seem to be enough hair there. So I'm going to go with Sareena. It seems like too drastic a change to be Sonya.

Characters have themes and strong ties to colors in Mortal Kombat. Kitana, Mileena, any male ninja, Raiden, Kung Lao... the list goes on. These are just not Sonya's colors. I could be convinced of color distortion due to video, but I'm just not seeing it.

In the picture it looks as if she's wearing a white tanktop with a black jacket/vest over it, and dog tags. How is that not her color scheme? Black/white/green has always been her colors. Besides, as you said, that picture is too low quality to really get a good feel for how it actually looks.

Gotta go with Nightwolf as well. Sorry guys, but the comparison pics of Nightwolf' on the first page are just too close, especially the medalion on his chest.

I would agree with Nightwolf except for 2 things.

1. It has bangs. Nightwolf's picture doesn't.

2. You can see its forehead, Nightwolf has a head band on.

Another reason is that I don't think they'd make a mistake of revealing Sonya this way. If it was intended as a sort of intentionally hidden secret, then I think Ed and company on Twitter would be playing it up.

Those are obvious dogtags. They also dangle MUCH lower than Nightwolf's necklace.

Not only that, but the hair is clearly light (compare to Mileena on the same screen) The ear is visible, there doesnt seem to be any paint on the face and the 'medallion' is much lower on the chest.

Your in denial. Look at the image and than look at Nightwolf. The forehead of the questionable character is a lot smaller and clearly is not wearing a headband. The facial structure really looks female and I dunno but that really looks like a special forces symbol/badge on the vest or whatever. Either way I would probably bet on it that it is not a male character.

1. It could just be the contour of the headband, with the low quality of pic it's sometimes hard to tell what may be hair and what may be a shadow or an outline.

2. It looks like the forehead you are seeing may be the circular icon on his headband, at least to me it looks that way.

HOWEVER...

Looking at the photos again, it may NOT be Nightwolf. Other differences:
1. The medalion on the chest is in a totally different spot than the Nightwolf Vs picture that was posted. It is further down from the head and more to the left.

2. There seems to be a high collar on the fighter's right-hand side. That may be a shadow or a flicker, but it looks like a collar to me. Hard to say. But it does resemble Nightwolf to me.

Yes, but even if we were to imagine that that is a head band, the hair is still higher than Nightwolf, who has his slicked back.

It's clearly not the same piscture of Nightwolf. It almost looks like two takes on Nightwolf.

But it can't be.
