New Reptile theme performed live

His theme is baller as fuck, but NRS really dropped the ball on not securing the rights to "Let Me Clear My Throat" for Reptiles theme. That song would've worked so well.
"Ahuh, Ahuh, now let me clear my thr-BLARRRGGGGGHHH!" *vomits acid on erbody in da club*

Does anyone find it funny that these kids are jammin to a video game theme. Most the people i know who go to stages, would deny that till the of days lol.

I love trance, techno, electronic dance music, and I think it fits MK perfectly. The whole "badass games doing heavy metal music themes" is so 90's. The soundtracks we've heard so far is still dark and really sets the mood for this game. Awesome. ^^
That said, though Reptile's theme sounds cool, the live video was kinda sucky. I hope we get to hear Reptile's track more properly like the other tracks.

I loved that one.
Anyway, Ballads in MK wouldn't be awkward. I'm not talking about corny pop love songs, I'm talking about the style of beautiful music you would find in a movie soundtrack (think "Corpse Bride" just as a quick example).
Well, its hard to say whats good or not considering its all very subjective, but, I'm very positive that MK can do well with some epic soft melodies with angelic vocals.
It's mainly reflects the characters and storyline, its not all about the fights. There's tons of emotions in the epic world of MK.

i'm loving this track...just d/l'ed the track that played before "let me clear my throat" and "the reptile theme".

I'm a bit disappointed that so far it looks like the whole album is techno/trance/club music. It's a very droning, boring genre of music, I find. I liked the Immortals stuff because their songs didn't drone on, they had, y'know, clearly identifiable choruses and bridges and so on. Some sort of rock or metal would have been preferable too.
In fact, the songs should all be a different genre appropriate to the character, something that actually feels like it's about the character or fits their personality, and isn't just background noise. Like Scorpion's from Hell and is all about rage, so his theme should be something very heavy. Liu Kang's a Chinese monk, his theme should've been played on actual Chinese musical instruments or, if you want to reference the Bruce Lee thing, could've been a cross between Asian instruments and a funky 70's beat like the theme of Enter the Dragon.
Lyrics aren't a bad idea either. The ones in the original songs were cheesy as hell, sure (though I will defend Chinese Ninja Warrior to the death, and I've also always kinda liked Kano's song for sounding like the theme to a Bond movie...) but there's nothing inherently wrong with the idea of having them.

This. All of it.
I'm not against techno or trance at all. It's just these particular tracks do absolutely nothing for me. Chinese Ninja Warrior gets fucking stuck in your head for weeks. It's the kinda music that makes you want to jump up and start doing karate poses. This? lolno
Except Mileena's theme. That was genuinely good stuff.

Meh. I've listened to Mileena's theme about five times and can't remember a single note.
It's all just "Unh-tss Unh-tss Unh-tss" to me. I don't go clubbing, I'm not that guy...and clearly there is a lot of people who ARE that sort of guy or girl here on MKO (seems natural in retrospect, given the number of "gaymers"), but this is really not the sort of thing I would've thought of when I think "Mortal Kombat", nor is it a genre I'd listen to for fun in my spare time either. And I listen to like every fucking genre under the sun, rock, rap, metal, pop, orchestral, soundtracks from video games and movies...but the one thing every song I enjoy has in common is memorability. I can hum it. It can get stuck in one's head.
Trance, I would assume from the name and droning sound, is designed specifically to do the opposite of being something you think about and remember, it's meant to literally put you into a trance, like fucking hypnosis, which is all about repeating something over and over until you relax or get so bored your brain goes numb.
But hey, I'm not saying people aren't allowed to enjoy different kinds of music...what I'm saying is I don't see how you can make an album of ALL club music and call it Mortal Kombat related? Why did they decide to make the whole CD a single genre of music? What does electronica have to do with Reptile, y'know? Shouldn't he have some sort of creepy, atmospheric tune that makes you think of snakes slithering around or people being eaten, like you would hear in a horror movie?

Yeah the music is incredibly forgettable. Hopefully it's not actually in the game. I'm looking forward to what Dan Forden does though.

To each their own. I'm not that guy who likes to go clubbing/raving either, but I do enjoy listening to good electronic dance music now and then.
After hearing Reptile's old theme many times in the past, I was a little surprised to hear electro house being used as his new theme. I enjoy listening to electro, but this particular track doesn't do much for me.
My major gripe is the use of vocals. It sounds like the guy is saying "what" or "jump" over and over again. It reminds me of early '90s hip hop. I hear this, and I seriously think about Reptile doing the running man. The song isn't bad, I just cannot find any way to associate Reptile with that particular sound in a way that's to be taken seriously.
I'm not making the claim that Reptile's old theme actually suited his personality either:
Traci Lords - Control
Anyway, I understand the whole idea of incorporating "edgy", dark music into this upcoming game. In my opinion, the songs do sync well with Mortal Kombat's atmosphere. Whether these songs fit their intended characters is a completely different argument.

I wouldnt mind some metal tracks specifically made for MK, kinda like how God of War 3 did it with Killswitch and Trivium.

I guess it's a matter of taste. But then again, when isn't music a matter of taste? I for one love the new style. That's my personal opinion. And I can see others don't like it, preferring the more metal/rock sound from previous games.

Hey I have to have my Techno fix every once in a while haha, I just like to listen to brutal music while playing MK......it's just an atmosphere type deal with me.

I was actually thinking that same thing. Like i'm playing a match. I KO your first person and mileena tags in then her theme starts
So far I like the theme “songs” that have been released (though there is nothing about Sub-Zeros’ that says Sub-Zero at all!) I mean Meleenas’ has this really dark twisted malicious sound, and Liu Kangs..sounds like Liu Kang. But I am still hoping that some of these character themes are still turned out by some rock bands. This is MK we need some rock to accompany this game, like MKDA did(fine that was more metal but you get what I mean)
I mean it would be tragic if someone like Noob Saibot or Scorpions themes were as much as miss as Sub-Zeros’ and were some very generic boring electronic dance beat. Those characters should get something more along the lines of (and pardon the reference) something like Dantes’ theme in Marvel vs Capcom 3(minus the scream, though it did work for that song) but you get what I mean something dark, something with some guitar in it.
Now on topic, from what I heard and I wasn’t really sure where the first song ended and Reptiles’ began but I listened to the whole video and..well I liked what I heard mostly. But Reptiles’ them to me will always be Control from the first MK movie.

Its not like any of these tracks are replacing the usual MK music. We dont even know where these will be used in game, if at all.
These are purely personnal interpretations of each of the characters from different artists, if they were to re-create the MK sound, whats the point of even asking an outside artist to do em?
Personnally, I like the idea, and find each of the themes reflect the characters well considering the genres and Im more of a hiphop guy.

A clearer audio is present here at 7:20: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRP7JJXsjMI
This makes 4 tracks from the soundtrack (I wonder how many tracks will be on it) out of those four this ranks as 3rd best for me.
