I wonder what time it all starts today?
Have to be honest... I picked up SSFAE and am really enjoying it. And watching some of those battles too.
Just learning SF, Never really played but..... It's a beautiful feeling when i get beasted by one of my more experienced friends online, And I know it was simply my entry into a new physics engine and not because of some ghetto ass netcode/Servers/Whatever the fuck.
Game plays so good online, I think I'm done with MK.
It says on the tournament's official site that MK's Top8 will start at 2:15 PM.
I still haven't downloaded the latest MK patch, I'm on PS3, but I have to say I had plenty of lag-free matches even before the patch, but I'm in Europe.
I actually have SSFIV, I like the game but suck at it, I just button mash but still have fun. The other day I tried online and I couldn't find a single opponent.
EDIT: It's actually 2:45 PM, not 2:15 PM. Sorry.

Thanks for the schedule Nephrite, Definitely gonna watch.
Most of SF's combo links are literally one frame links ( INSANE )
Getting it down though... My one friend has been playing for 6 months, And he couldn't even get a round win against my 2 day Yuri.
Ok I'm afraid of updating MK now. I already have enough problems as it is with the whole "this match is no longer availabe" bullshit. As it is I can only seem to connect with people as far as Australia maximum (I'm from NZ). Everytime I try to fight someone it disconnects unless I go into an Aus or NZ room. Which lucky for me are quite frequent, but sometimes there are absolutely none online when I want to play. I fear that if I update I'm not even going to be able to play locals anymore meaning my online MK days are over. Can some more people confirm whether online is worse?
now I don't know much about this but does this whole problem lie with NRS's Mortal Kombat servers or is it personal internet connections? coz I've never had any problems with my connection on any other games, never had lag, never been disconnected, I even switched back to ethernet rather than wireless and it's still just as bad.

I know how you feel. I live in NZ and the retro DLC isn't even available yet and it's been out for a week. Like I said in another post, I thought it was the 'Playstation Network' not the 'Multiple Playstation Networks'
Why are we not all treated the same and receive everything at the same time worldwide?

I would advise people not to update. I have had nothing but issues ever since. Example: Every single match has ended in "game session no longer available"

Wait a second. I tried this on practice mode with the AI set to auto block and her reset still works. What gives? Is it nerfed in online but not offline?

There are definitely serious issues with online now. I can find a match, but maybe 50% of them end in "game session not available" or "game session has desynchronized." I don' t know if it will let you play online at all though if you don't download it. I didn't try.
I played online yesterday with no problems at all.
Granted I only played 6 matches, but all of them ran smoothly.
I'm in Brazil and I don't have lag problems (almost never). It's weird, but MK's online never disappointed me since it was released. After the update, I didn't have more problems than before.

My PS3 actually restarts at the "Please Wait..." screen after hitting OK to download the update. I'm guessing I should just not try and download it after reading all of these issues.

log off psn, then go on mk (cancel the update screen), then in the menu goto online, sign in and download
it should work

I still can't find any ranked matches on psn. I'll have to try again tonight but online play has improved bigtime for me with only and occasional slowdown.

I think it's kind of hard to play a few matches of SSF4 AE online, and not be immediately disappointed with MK. Strictly speaking online, they're not even different planets, more like different galaxies.
This does not mean that MK is an inferior game to SSF4, it just means that the online is inferior. MK online, even when it's a "lag free" match, there is always a subtle hint of input lag, which for some players changes their gameplay from pretty high level to ass. I'm not claiming anything on my gameplay, but I know that I won't even play a single serious match online because it's not good enough, even at its best.
Just as Capcom is praising MK for its story mode, and saying that they would like to do something similar in future games, NRS should look at SSF4 online and shoot for that benchmark or even better. NRS clearly struggle with online, so maybe they should consider something like GGPO for future games.
I guess the point of this post was:
While your post is stabbing at the user for not playing MK because there's another game that simply outclasses its online peformance, the truth is they're probably agreeing with you....yeah, it does suck....that MKs online is trash and not worth playing competitively.
Offline is a completely different story, but with arcades dead, so is going the way of local fighting game scenes, which really hurts because right now, that's the only real way of playing MK. What a shame
Sorry if this seems directly pointed at you--it's not. It's more of a post saying that MK has been a disappointment online, and SSF4 AE, while boring in character design, etc. (in my opinion) is a far superior online experience, and NRS should take some notes.

I dunno man, probably. This patch fucked EVERY thing about online play...

Why would anyone want to patch a game like Mortal Kombat, just to lose your favorite combos and such? Unless if this is just for online, play? Wtf is.. OTG, anyways?

I couldn't of put it better myself, Those are my thoughts exactly.
And yes, It does suck.

I completely agree, i just got AE (add me if you have psn), but the problem is really simple...FUCK ONLINE, just wait for it to get fixed, dont trash the best fighter to date.
