Why they decided to turn him into a scorpion/sub-zero clone when his armageddon look was so cool and different... and what worries me most is that they decided to turn him asian-like, another character that suddenly is asian-like. and again I don't hate asian-characters I just don't like normally caucasian characters turn out to be asian all of a sudden, it just doesn't make sense... especially not with Rain an edinian that is suppose to be a pretty boy.


Anyway his looks suck, I hope he gets his armageddon alternate pretty soon.

His moves rock on all frond, I really love that bubble and all that water splashing around.

His intro is ok.

His winning pose is awesome, altho I think his hands should reach to heaven and not downward...

His fatalities... well the water fatality is awesome, the other fatality starts pretty awesome but ends horrible boring with that decap, where is there inspiration?

His story is a bit easy, but at least he has a story now.



Just WHY WHY WHY didn't they put the ponytail somewhere in this model... its such a shame.... now its just scorpion in purple, and if he fights you can't see purple at all... very boring... and a waste of Rains true cool appearance.

I do agree with you though, I was rather disappointed to see NRS making Rain look SO MUCH like a palette swap. I knew he would looks somewhat like a palette swap, since this IS a return to the classic games, but I was hoping he would appear more unique like they did with Ermac and Smoke.

That said, for a palette swap look, I love the design he has. The wave-design, the shoulderpads and the veiled mask all look really nice. However, I hope NRS will make an Alternate Costume pack for the DLC characters (and possibly Cyber Sub-Zero) where Rain's alternate outfit will appear more unique with his hair out and such.

NRS have already changed some stuff from their past games in MK 2011. like the story mode ending and the Lin Kuei working for Shao Kahn. I don't think this was going to be a 3D port of the classic games or anything like that. they re-imagined other things too, like Rain and more fighters in Mortal Kombat 1. the truth is... they can do that.

I think it's worth noting that saying he "chose to betray his homeland rather than suffer at the hands of Kahn's Extermination Squads" does not necessarily literally mean he was captured and forced to choose. It just means he picked the side he figured was more likely to win. Opportunism.
The events described in his MKT bio, such as being smuggled out during the war to prevent him from being killed as a child, then coming back to Outworld later and signing up with Kahn, can actually co-exist with the events described in his MK9 bio where he joined/was raised by the Edenian resistance and switched to Kahn because the resistance wasn't giving him what he wanted.
And technically, it's not even new information that there IS an Edenian Resistance. We've always known that Outworld is a wartorn land and there are rebellious groups of its people who still oppose Kahn for assimilating their worlds. And there were repeated references to one existing in MKvsDCU, non-canon though it may be.

Vanity and pure arrogance just doesn't suit asian characters in my opinion, its more for caucasians, spain people and half-dark people, it just suits them more, much like Vega from streetfighter. And the eyes of armageddon rain weren't asian, this rains eyes seem asian all of a sudden, at least they could make Rain much like Jade or Kitana... not like Liu Kang...

Anyway the non-masked Rain looks very manly and ugly too me, he should have been the pretty model boy. (not that I want that for personal reasons but more as I love that with vain characters, my personal taste is Shao Kahn and Reiko male-based characters anyway, not pretty pretty boys. but again it would suit Rain's arrogance more than an asian warrior...)

He looks good on a picture, but I still dislike him having that stupid black cap that he shares with sub-zero... he should have hair instead with a dark purple veil, very noble and vain-like.

I like everything else, his appearance is just dope and bland to me.

His *looks* (and story) in MKA were amazing,
and I can understand missing that more elaborate costume with the fancy hair.

I myself am just glad they decided to bring back his more interesting (IMO) MKT gameplay. I said before I was pretty shocked to see Rain depicted so "ninja-like" this time, arguably moreso than even Scorpion or Sub-Zero. Having seen the details of his costume, though, I can definitely say I prefer his look over all of the other "ninja" characters in this game. It doesn't really bother me that he physically resembles other characters-
they all play very differently, and that's what matters most to me.
