Btw, about the hidden kombatants in the arcade ladder... we will fight Reptile in the Bottom Pit? And Smoke/Jade in Living Forest? And fight Noob Saibot in Netherrealm? Then, the first one "You Found Me!"? Any guesses?

Hold on a second pal, I never tried to prove they aren't widely known or respected. Just that so are other characters. I never tried to tell you Cyber Sub Zero is a guaranteed win, either. Only that there's the possibility of it.

Fair, perfectly and reasonably.

What I have tried to prove is that Scorpion and Sub Zero are not immune to change, and that there is no guarantee change to either (Sub, in this case, as has happened) would be bad. The proof is in the pudding, NRS have criminally dicked with their game before and they've still come up roses. The sales numbers on MKvDC should be fairly indicative of that. No western borne long standing serial has gone more than 10 years without majorly dicking with its principal cast and "mascots". Its a cultural imperative to shake things up because western consumers get bored easy.

Again, for the most part I agree. You've gotta admit MK's rep took a bit of a hit because of MKDC though. I'm pretty confident it's the whole reason the new game's slogan is 'fatality lives'.

In any event, I was re-watching some old videos today and realized this is moot. The Younger Sub Zero of before is already dead. The new Young Sub Zero already hates and is trying to kill Scorpion. He never left the Lin Kuei, so he'll never have to be hunted or rescued by smoke. If he does take over the lin kuei it won't be to spread peace and love and earn Raiden's respect. In all likely hood he probably willfully became cybernetic to get an advantage over his brothers supernatural killer.
I bet in the ending, CSZ is making frozen margaritas for Cyrax and Sektor while flipping burgers over a decapitated scorpion bbq. I can't wait.

Here, I respectfully disagree. Razor and I had a brief discussion along these lines a few weeks back - though there is a new revenge angle to his plotline, it doesn't necessarily have to mean he'll be an entirely meaner and darker Sub-Zero. I severely doubt he'd go along with the mechanization willingly as that's the whole point of Sektor's plotline, and his original personality could very well be intact. I'm a forgiving sort, but lord knows I'd be out for blood if someone killed one of my family members.
Point in fact though, I always wondered why he was never written in MKII as being out for revenge against his brother's killer, back in the day. It's a nice revision/addition - I like it as much as I do the new childlike Mileena.

In the official comic for MK2, Sub-Zero does briefly think to himself that he should avenge his brother's death the first time he meets Scorpion. He doesn't come to a decision because that meeting's on like the last page of the story and it ends before he can, but still.
Also, looking for his brother's killer was Sub-Zero's motive in Shaolin Monks. Non-canon, but it showed their interest in interpreting his story that way predates MK9.
So there's nothing new about the idea that Kuai might want to kill Scorpion for killing Bi-Han. What matters is what he decides once he finally gets his chance. Kuai is a merciful man, it's been his most defining characteristic. He doesn't even know WHY Scorpion killed Bi-Han. If Scorpion explains it to him when they fight, then it's absolutely possible the fight ends with Kuai sparing Scorpion and, with Scorpion seeing that this man is no bloodthirsty asshat like his evil brother was, them making a temporary truce just like they did in the original MK2.
