That's 42 characters total -> highly unlikely, but I would love it. I feel bad about leaving out Kabal, Kenshi, Reiko and Shinnok. I'd prefer Shinnok over Shao Kahn a thousand times, but Kahn is more iconic. Maybe I'd switch Quan Chi for Shinnok then.

Thinking a bit more about it I'd probably switch Noob Saibot for Kenshi to have more post-MKT characters. Both are zoners anyway.

(Reason: Both main characters, Or at least Liu Kang until Deadly alliance, Same could be said for Kazuya until Tekken 2 but yet Capcom used him as Ryu's rival.)

Kung Lao vs. Ken

(Reason: Both are friends/rivals of the main characters of there series.)

Kitana vs. Chun-Li

(Reason: Both main female fighters of the respective series.)

(Reason: Both work for the government & are the female blond hero's of there series.)

(Reason: Both the army men of their series who represent America who want revenge, Guile for M.Bison killing Charile & Jax for Kano wiping out his squad.)

(Reason: Both the wise high vocabulary speaking spirit old men elemental powered guide to the hero's to the right path type of fighters of there series.)

Mileena is a iconic female of MK, Juri is a new female in Street Fighter series. There is no way her "rival match" is a perfect match, this is understimate Mileena ́s importance and popularity (she is the poster girl in the game!). Juri could be a good rival to Sareena, or Nitara. AND MAYBE LI MEI, but she can ́t be Mileena ́s nemesis!!

As Mileena ́s fan, I think she has not a decent female pair en Street Fighter side. Actually, I think Morrigan should be her "rival match" in any possible crossover between both franchises. Both girls are sex-symbols of MK and Capcom respectively, use her body as a weapon, are fierce and extremely sadisctic fighter. Maybe Morrigan is not an evil female lead in Capcom, while Mileena is the first evil female character in the fighting games, and the main villainess in the franchise. Morrigan is something like an antiheroine, hence in the story of Darkstalkers, Morrigan has some bad attitude, and she is depicted with a dark undercurrent.

The only negative point is Morrigan is not part o Street Fighter series, buuu :(

About Sonya-Cammy, I think is a great antagonism, both of her are military-sexy-fierce, bla. But the first female in MK is Sonya, and the first female in SF is Chun Li. The only thing I see Kitana to be "paired" with Chun Li is the color, Blue.

Sindel-Rose, another good one. Both MILF :)

BTW, love Nephrite ́s choice Vega-Mileena, so original and perfect!!! They are, really, a perfect rival match! One is, like Saint Seiya ́s Gold Saint Aphodite, devoted of beauty and power. Mileena confront the cannon of beauty!! Absolutely great choice!

As for Kitana & Chun Li, isn't Bison responsible for the death of Chun Li's father or something like that? Similar to how Shao Kahn is responsible for the death of Kitana's father. Both can be seen as the main heroines of their respective series too. So it's more than just the blue color.

Sonya & Cammy are a much better fit imo, both tough blonde chicks with military theme going on. Cammy is pretty big in SF world too, right? So it's two old school characters with similar themes and strong fanbase behind them.

I personally don't understand the concept of someone who WOULDN'T want to see SF vs. MK in one form or another. I mean, thinking about game mechanics or story line or the logic of how you could have these characters balanced against each other then you're being a spoil-sport.

The biggest problem would be, though, which characters to include. My guess is it would end up being something like SSFII vs MK2, just because the two are so iconic. Of course, neither of my favorite SF characters are in those games, but hey, my favorite isn't even owned by Capcom. :/

Well from the way your describing how rivalries should work I could be wrong but you seem to be going about it the way NRS did with MKvs.DC(With the whole Icon's only type thing or Icon vs. Icon only) Which I can understand in there version, but when Capcom dose it they will probably go with what works despite old or new, Now you might say well in SFxT there's no Fei vs. Law or Honda vs Ganryu, well the problem with SFxT is that there are so many chars that are basiclly the same that for one it would fill the roster with clones which will not be fun whereas in MK & SF there aren't many characters who look & act the same, They may share traits but they don't look the same or have similar.

Back on the subject in short NRS would probably will go with 2 things, Iconincness & Similarities) Judging by that there roster would probably have chars from the SF2 & MK2 series. So in the case of Mileena the only one I can see as her rival can be Cammy since she was bad at the time as an assassin looking for answers about her past not caring who else got in her way as long as they didn't stop her (Watch Street Fighter 2 The Animated Movie as an example) And for Vega being her rival isn't bad either but if Baraka makes it in then he would probably be his rival.

Now with Capcom they tend to also go with similarities but also they like to go who would be interesting to work on and who would be impossible for this game & try to make them work type of thing, Not to say Ed doesn't do this as well as he has stated this but seeing as Mk has only one cross title & SF has many I would need to see more crosses from Mk in order to be sure. So with that said I have posted what there roster would look like about twice but in case you haven't seen it this will be the last time I post it seeing as how it may seem annoying to see the same list over so here it goes.

Anyway, I think the problem in the antagonism between the female character is Capcom do not have a lot of primary female faces as Mortal Kombat. In SF, we have Cammy and Chun Li. In MK, we have Mileena, Kitana and Sonya, and a few other like Jade and Sindel with a serious fan support. I can see some of this antagonism well sorted out: Jade vs Sakura and Rose vs Sindel, for example (but obviously, Jade and Sindel ́s fans may see this situation as a catastrophy xD). But then, we have a lot of new or minor female faces in SF series, with minor appeareces of a few ones (Mika, Karin, Elena, etc) or good appearences in the recent games (Juri and C Viper, both of her in two games- SFIV ,and SFxTekken & MVC3 respectively). As I see, Mileena or Kitana or Sonya (or even Jade or Sindel, and maybe Tanya) they have a large fandom support, are well recognized female faces of the franchise (in various degree), I just don see other characters in SF series with the same weigh, besides Chun Li or Cammy, and maybe Sakura :S. That ́s why I think Morrigan should be introduced in any future SFxMK game as a counterpart of Mileena, or the just can choice Vega as Nephrite suggested :)
