Well the interesting thing is, science-fiction tropes don't ask for anyone's approval, they just ARE.

That's like a little kid running out of arguments and being all "It is so!"

But the interesting thing is, adapting the new canon into other media will be kind of impossible, it's a "I had to tell you that story in order to tell you this one" scenario. So they'll have to keep going back to the plots of the original games. Raiden knowing the future and trying to change it only makes sense as a story if the viewer knows what the original was like too and can tell the differences.

That's bullshit. Any new MK media can adapt the new storyline as a series of events and remove the 'message through time' plot. Adaptation doesn't mean you can't take a few liberties.

Yes, clearly I'm the one who's acting childish. I don't know what I was thinking, arguing from a position of logic and reason. My mistake.

I find it impossible to say that without knowing just how deeply the theme of "Raiden deliberately changing history" runs through the plot. I suppose there could theoretically be changes that are useful to an outside narrative...but I also think that this game's plot will mean as much to the casual fans as Ashrah and Dairou do. They'll still cling to whatever was written when they grew up with the series in the 90's. No matter how many Sub-Zero robots you give the audience, he'll still be a guy with a scar over one eye in our hearts and minds, and adaptation media will reflect that, outside of the ones that go the radical re-imagining route like Rebirth.

That is great art/concept!

I'd love it if Blaze/Torch MK2 was in the game.
