I really like Jade, she's probably my favorite female ninja character in MK. I haven't honestly seen enough of her in action to make a judgement. I don't really care for her costume but the UMK3 look is great on her. Kudos also for not having heels on that costume so yay to Kitana and Mileena as well then if they have it too.

For an alternate I'll be down for anything...but I definitely would really like for her to get the double bun/pigtail look she had in her Deception/Armageddon alternates. That hairstyle was fantastic.

*Her costume:
I absolutely love her outfit this time around, and I love that her classic DLC is the UMK3 outfit which is my favourite of her 2D appearances. I also favoured her MKD-MKA alternate outfit, because the assassin leotard outfit is awesome, in my opinion. I hope her new alternate outfit will include the ox-horn pigtail hairstyle like the one she sported in her MKD-MKA alternate.

*Her fighting stance:
From what we've seen, she seems to share Kitana's fighting stance, but holding her staff in her hand. I hope in her final appearance she'll get her own fighting stance. I think her UMK3 fighting stance was awesome, as it differed from the other girls and was more "ninja" like, if that make sense. Also her MK: Shaolin Monks stance was quite cool too, somewhat like Cammy from Street Fighter 4.

*Her storyline:
I'd like to hear more about her background - where does she come from, why does she fight for Shao Kahn, how did she and Kitana become best friends, what is her relationship with the other characters... Things about her we haven't really gotten an explanation on. It will really help giving her more depth to her character.

*Her rivalries:
Well, the rivalry with Tanya starts after MK4, because that's when Tanya betrays the Edenians by leading Shinnok into the realm and help him take over. She might gain a rivalry with Reptile, seeing as he tries to kill Kitana, but that's not until late into her storyline in UMK3. So I think Jade is rather neutral when it comes to this part of her personality. She's told to kill someone by Shao Kahn, and she does so without any personal involvement.

*What you think her Gameplay should be like:
Jade was known for her fast-paced fighting style in the 2D games, and I would love to see her be one of the faster characters this time around. Her MKD-MKA appearances didn't do her justice on that department. Also, I'd like to see lots of kicks and have her utilize her staff into her fighting style.

*What you think her X-ray should be like:
I had an idea of her smashing her staff into the opponent several times, fracturing many parts of the opponent's bones, but it will be too excessive to actually be in the game. Hopefully it will include her staff and maybe a cool kick. :P

*Fatality Ideas:
NO DISMEMBERMENT!!! I hope they really go original in Jade's fatalities instead of just her ripping or chopping the opponent's body to pieces like everyone else's fatalities. My favourite fatality she has is her MKD one where she hurls her staff through the opponent's head, then grabs the staff, jumps over the opponent and pulls the head off. That was quite awesome!

Where to start....

I love the top of her costume. The plunging neckline, the colour scheme. It's all great. THat picture of her thats just from her waist up is lovely.

HOWEVER. I'm so over the loincloth flap thing. Honestly, can't they think of something clevererrerer? I mean it looks fine but from the waist down it's just so..... samey same. You know? I'd love to see them try at least something different.... maybe a sash to the side like Phoenix in X-men has..... or a shorter version of Alice's dress with the skirty thing under it from the first Resident Evil movie. I don't know how any of those things might look, but I'd just like to see something new....

Still, she's a gorgeous girl and I LOVE the retro version ^_^ too bad it's DLC and it's unlikely I'll be able to get to it for a while :(

I love that her staff stays in her hand all the time. I think that's really cool, like I mentioned above, something we've NOT seen before. Mileena and Kitana have hammerspace, Kano in his boots, and she incorporates it into her fighting. And love that it's neon purple hehe.

Really nothing to go on with gameplay yet but I'd love to see a lot of staff twirling and kinda snakey shiz. She was always the background girl ninja so it's got to reflect that.

I am fairly pleased with Jade's costume in this game, the loin cloth is more of a belt kinda thing. The top is great, the boots are nice, gloves arent anything special. I dont like her hair, I would have liked them to do something better with her hair. A high ponytail would look better or something similar to her MKD look, my favorite Jade look.

The only gameplay we have seen is in the Noob video, so I dont have any judgment on that yet, I would like her to be very agile like Kitana, their fighting styles should be kinda similar, I think their moves should compliment each other in tag team mode. I am not a fan of Jade holding her staff the entire time, if Kitana and Mileena cant have their weapons on their costume why should anyone else? In regards to Jaded-Raven's theory, Kitana and Mileena's are magic, then I would also like Jade's to be magic, and have her staff just appear like their fans and sais do It is glowing purple, its gotta be magic. I like the classic purple glow staff, very cool also Jaded-Raven pointed out how Jade appears to be doing some kind of pole vault move, that would be great, there is so much potential for Jade with her staff, she can like swing herself and kick opponents, pull vault into them, theres all kinda crazy shit they could do with that staff so I am excited about that.

Story- the only canon information we have on Jade is that she is Kitana's childhood friend and they were assassins together for Shao Khan. I would like to see some more of Jade's history, what her family was like in Edenia before Khan took over, even if she was only a baby. I really like the Jade and Kitana friendship so I hope that stays around. I want them to be like the "mean girls" of Mortal Kombat. I would also like to see why Khan decided to kidnap Jade or however she started serving Khan. Kitana was the princess so he adopted her, but why Jade? Some other things I want to see are Kitana and Jade working together for Khan. I want to see their reactions to Mileena. I want to see Mileena jealous of Jade and Kitana because they are so beautiful and stuff.

Jade is definitely one of my favorite females and I'm very happy to (finally) see her in action.

I will copy most of the stuff i wrote in another amazing Jade thread that was created a while ago, but, I will update the post with my current new opinions and views on her:

JADE's LOOK and COSTUME:

Jade, imo, is the best looking out of the 3 female ninjas. Her costume grew on me quite fast.

I'll be honest, though: my initial reaction was that of disappointed.

When I first saw that picture of hers I was like:

1) Why is Mileena's outfit green?
2) Why does it remind me too much of Kitana?
2) Why does Jade look more like Kitana's "real cloned-twin" than Mileena?

Seriously. I was not that happy.

However, her face, and hair were an absolutely wonder to look at. Jade looks gorgeous. So, I was like:

1) She looks more beautiful and royal than Kitana.
2) The sexy hairstyle looks very nice on her.
3) She looks mysterious.

Point #3 made me really happy. They (somehow) made Jade look like THE mysterious ninja girl. Is it the hair style? Is it her sort of serene expression in that render? I don't know, but, whatever it is. It works.

Overall, I was mostly disappointed by her costume despite being truly excited to see her revealed.

My main issue with the costume is that, somehow, it just doesn't look as original and unique as her "Amazonian/Gypsy Latina" look from MKD.

The wavy hair and wild look from her primary and that cute hairstyle in the alternate really made her stand out as "unique" and "different" when placed side by side with Kitana (Mileena was already the Queen of Outfits back then and I feel exactly the same way when I compare her "new outfit" with the amazing "Arabic" costume). Now, however, I just keep thinking that this outfit should have been Kitana's (except the golden chains) and Jade should had gotten something more similar to her MKD primary look.

I'm still annoyed that Kitana has that long loin cloth. I'm so over this things as well. I just don't think it was a smart move to do that.

Another thing I'm annoyed at is that Jade seems to be more like Kitana's "clone sister" than Mileena in this game. Why is that? Jade and Kitana look a lot more similar in looks than Kitana and Mileena do. That's kind of sad 'cause I wish I could still say "Omg, that girl in pink is actually the twin of the girl in blue!".

BUT......

Time went by and that picture started to grow on me

Even though I still feel most of all those things I said above, they really aren't that big of a deal anymore. I've grown to appreciate Jade's new look a lot more for what it is. What are the positives?

1) I absolutely LOVE the golden chains around her. Best new addition yet.
2) I love the Gold/Green/Black color combination. Flawless!
3) Her mask is my favorite out of the 3 ninjas girls. very very cool.
4) Her gloves are wicked.
5) The way her loin cloth ties with her top is sooo sexy and classy.

I still wish she had some things that would link her to that wild Amazonian/Latina gypsy look from MKD, but, we can always cross fingers for the alternate costumes.

But yes, Jade looks absolutely gorgeous and (imo) the best of the 3 ninja girls. I love Mileena a lot more, but, there is something about this "new Jade" that makes me like her look much much better (maybe it's the fact that Mileena doesn't look anything like her MKD primary look, cause that one kicks the hell out of all the other ninja girls).

Anyway, I give Jade's look a positive nod because she is rocking that costume.

She has the best look of the 3 ninja girls and looks to be the most mysterious of them. I have high expectations for Jade.

Jade also looks like the "least sexualized" of the 3 ninja girls. She is still sexualized, though, and very revealing, but, it really is a closer look to her original outfit than the other 2.

She looks great, but, I'd definitely add something around the neck 'cause sometimes I feel like she looks "incomplete" or a bit "empty".

MKD easily made her one of my ultimate favorites thanks to her awesome look, so, I hope her alternate kicks some butt (the retro costume is already amazing).

PS: Kind of wish she had darker skin.

PPS: The alt should resemble her features from MKD and have her unmasked, please.

SPECIAL MOVES and FIGHTING STYLE

I wish she would keep that "purple magic-trail" for her projectiles and Staff (weapon). Suits her better than green.

We now know that she will be fighting while holding her staff on one hand. Two things about this:

1) I hope she gets a different fighting stance because it looks a lot like Kitana's.
2) I hope this works well for her. I'm still not sure how I feel about her holding the staff because we haven't really seen any gameplay of her. For now, I'm going to be positive about it because its new and makes her different from the other characters. I like how it transforms.

I'll be more direct and straight forward regarding Jade's powers:

1) I want a lot of "weapon combos" like in MKU.
2) I want to see that staff (it glows purple!!! YAY!) in more special attacks.
3) The boomerangs are cool. I'm happy.
4) Can you please give her at least 3 new special moves?
5) I won't miss the teleport if she doesn't have it back (Kitana seems to still have this as it appears in her X-ray).
6) She needs to be really fast.

I seriously don't even remember Jade's move set from MKU and MKD. That's not good. I've never really been impressed by her specials.

She needs more special and memorable attacks. Like Mileena, she always was/is really lacking in that department. They need to come up with original specials for the 3 ninja females.

I want Jade's style to be very "cat-like" when she fights. I think it was no coincidence that her Animality in MKU was a kitty. I perceive Jade as a very sneaky and treacherous fighter. Not necessarily noble or "moral" in fights. More like Mileena but a lot less obvious and not crazy, lol.

Jade just seems to me like the one who'd stab you in the back without even bothering to make an announcement.

Mileena is more like the one who'd do that but she'd make a glorious entrance and exit + giggles about it.

Kitana would be a combination of both, but, she's more likely to be upfront challenging.

Back to Jade, I want her to be very sneaky, "cat like" (if that makes any sense), and mysterious.

That render of her "makes her feel mysterious", so, that's a good thing.

X-RAY

It will hopefully feature her amazing glowing staff and a ninja attack.

FATALITIES

I loved the one she had in MKD where she stabs the head and then jumps, grabs the stick, pulls it off, and waves it around. AWESOME.

However, I'm not sure I wan't to see this one back. I hope for 2 awesome and new Fatalities for Jade.

If she has to have a remake of one of her classics, I'm hoping for the one in MKU where she stabs you and moves you around like crazy making your skin come off your body. They don't need to make the victim explode, but, they can totally make the skin come out.

Painful.

STORY

Let's keep the essentials:

1) Bad and evil girl who serves Shao Kahn willingly.
2) Mysterious.
3) Make her really struggle with the decision of betraying Kahn or betraying Kitana.
4) More depth with her "relationship" with reptile (another secret/mysterious warrior).

And give us some new stuff to enjoy about Jade:

1) How and why is she Kahn's ally?
2) How does she feel about her "lost realm"? Was she ever aware of Jerrod and Sindel?
3) How did she get where she is and why is Kahn happy to make her be part of the twins?
4) When did she became friends with Kitana (and quite possible, Mileena?).

MKDeception kind of implies that she knows about Edenia's real history because of her hatred against Tanya, but, when did she know this before or after joining Kitana?

Jade must had really been something special for Kahn to trust her so much and even appoint her his mission to kill Kitana.

So, that's all for know regarding the awesome Jade.

It is slightly different than Kitana's. Jade seems to lean in more and has her arms raised a bit more too. Kitana's stance is a bit more calm and elegant *for lack of a better word*, and Jade's seems more 'straight to the point' and a little tougher. Slight changes can be big. My sig has Kitana's stance, and Jaded Raven's sig and some screen shots of Jade should be already posted. I like Jade's stance, I think it suits her personality. I've always liked Jade, but I think I'll like her even more when this game comes out. She very visually appealing, I can't wait to read the update on her story.

COSTUME: At first glance looking at the video, I was "meh" about her costume. I would've LOVED for her to have a choker. It would've really complete the look, but I am honestly thoroughly pleased with this new iteration of her. She looks gorgeous. Her hair looks amazing as well. .When she's puking (gross) I can see how beautifully it moves. Weird place to notice it, but I do. I totally agree with Queve that she's the mysterious girl of the bunch. She looks so calm and serene with her fists up. I think that was totally intentional considering the fact that Kitana and Mileena have cocked eyebrows or angry faces. Jade is supposed to be their opposites of sorts. LOVE THAT NRS!! I really want her alternate to be unmasked. If anyone is familiar with Ayame from Tenchu, I think that'd be perfect. I want Jade to look like an actual ninja, but with significantly more green lol. Obviously, I don't want an exact look but some elements borrowed from that would be sick.

HER STORYLINE: I just really want to see her given some direct purpose as opposed to us fans inferring it. I want to see her given a sense of darkness and why she is so devoted to Khan besides the fact he'll murder her. Is she actually a villain? Is she just EXTREMELY loyal? What caused her to join him? Her friendship with Kitana, and subsequently her relation to Mileena?

STANCE:
Her stance is NOT similar to Kitana's. THIS is her stance.


I LOVE this stance. She's kind of lurching...as if she's about to pounce on her opponent. Her legs and body are coiled almost as if she's perpetually read to strike. Her shoulders are also hunched over a little bit, giving one the impression that she's a lot more physically imposing than she really is.

GAMEMPLAY: I also agree that her gameplay she be very fast, but strong. I also like Queve's idea of her being catlike and striking fast and hard, but giving her enough space to retreat if she wanted to. That staff will be really good for that. People are also forgetting that Jade's staff IS magic. It's short, but then it grows with purple energy.
XRAY:
I would really love for this to be her X-Ray. I think it might possibly involve that pop up that she does before she gets smacked in the head by noob lol. It could be that move and as a kick upwards she breaks your jaw. While you're up in the air she leaps up as well and conjures her staff. The camera can briefly focus on her staff turning bright purple for cinematic effect, and she cracks you on the top of your head to slam you back down to earth. THAT would be sick to me.

FATALITY: I hate her old UMK3 fatalities. I actually don't hate them, but I would hate them if I saw them now as they were. They were good for their time, but there's so much. I would love to see one with her boomerang. She could toss her boomerang really far, do some damage to her opponent for a while and then the boomerang comes back and decapitates them. FLAWLESS VICTORY. I want to see something either really flashy or really simple and painful since she's the epitome of the ninja girls now in my eyes.

What I hope for is for most of Jade's normal attacks to be slow long range hits or for her to at least have a long-range poke. Part of the reason why she's my third favorite character is because I like the way she played in MKD and I'd like playing the big heavy hitters who lack combos but keep other characters at Bay and between her weapon, her kick attack and her projectile, she's obviously the character that I find the most fun to play.

I agree, I want Jade to be playful and cat-like as well in her attitude, being mysterious and devious in her ways, almost as if she enjoys it, though not in a psychotic way like Mileena. I'm thinking a mix of Anna and Nina Williams from the Tekken series. The way Irina Pantaeva portrayed Jade in Mortal Kombat Annihilation was somewhat how I've always imagined Jade's personality was like, without the betraying bitch part, of course. XD
Also, like shown in her Girls gone wired video, her attitude is like "I'm sexy and you know it, and if you disagree, I'll break your neck!" Fierce and strong, yet a sexual being who has her soft sides.

Jade is a cold-blooded killer, doing her job without asking questions and might even enjoy the hunt, like a cat chasing a mouse, the tigress hunting her prey. However, that broke somewhat when she had to choose between her master and her best friend... That's how I've always seen her.

As to Jade looking more like Kitana than Mileena does, and that her outfit looks more like Kitana would wear... Well, I can agree on the first part. Both Kitana and Mileena looks like beautiful Edenian women while Mileena's beast-like Tarkatan features comes through more than it has before which makes her look distinctively different from Kitana. Though I don't mind the eyes, I do think it's a bit of a shame that the "twins" don't look more like eachother like they did in past games. Perhaps Mileena's eyes should be all yellow and glowing, but just the iris being yellow would have been enough.

I don't agree that Jade's outfit would fit Kitana better though. All in all, Jade's new outfit is the one looking closest to the UMK3 outfit out of the three girls, but so did her MKD alternate outfit. It's just spiced up with the sash and some kneepads, more or less. True, it's not as unique as her MKD main was, however, this is supposed to be happening back in the first three games' timeline and their outfits are suppose to reflect that. Out of the three girls' outfits, Kitana's is the one which looks the least like her classic outfit while Jade's look the most, Mileena's on a close second.

But hopefully Jade's alternate outfit will look like her MKD one... and hopefully with her ox-horn pigtail hairstyle! I loved that hairstyle (if you haven't noticed already). XD
Her new hair looks elegant and gives her a mysterious vibe, maybe because half her face is hidden behind it. It makes her look sophisticated and sexy as well. It is incredibly simple compared to her MKD hairstyles, but I like it.

I dont like Jade's hair in this game. I really liked her hair in MKD, both costumes. She just looked awesome in that game. I kinda would like to see the "ox horn pig tails" be Jade's little trademark, kinda like how Kitana has the super long hair now, Jade should have pig tails like the ones from MKD.

I would have rather Jade's hair be in a high ponytail, instead of the low ponytail. Or have it not in a ponytail at all, same over the eye type thing, but no ponytail.

well...I like the classic umk3 outfit the best. mainly cuz I just always envision her with a bun and the outfit still retains sex appeal without being distracting which brings me to her new outfit...your eyes go right to her boobs! I mean they are just right there! as far as gameplay goes though it seems she will retain most of her signature moves.

I love how everyone was bitching about how Kitanas and Mileenas costumes hardly cover anything and aren't classy, yet Jade has the sluttiest costume of them all and everyone loves it

That's funny. No one bitched hardly about Mileena's costume being revealing because all, and I mean all Mileena's costumes that weren't palette swapped were revealing. Kitana however, was never very revealing and people didn't like the fact that NRS made her look sluttier. Jade IMO wasn't very revealing, but she was revealing in MKD, so why should people bitch about her costume when they have nothing to bitch about. Her costume is amazing and I do favour it over Kitana's, but not Mileena's because a) I am biased XD and b) I like pink more than green ;)

I wouldn't say Jade's outfit looks sluttier than Kitana's and Mileena's... Mileena is close to show her privates and Kitana is as undressed as ever, however, Jade's outfit is more covered up than both of them.

I think Mileena's outfit fits her perfectly though, I wouldn't change a thing about it. The problem I have with Kitana's outfit is that it doesn't represent her as an assassin like her past outfits did. It is alot more like a princess, as in a sexy, feantasy princess, that is... I am aware no real life princess would dress like that, except maybe Jasmine from Aladdin. XD
As said many times before, Jade's outfit resembles their original palette swap UMK3 outfit the most, and I think that's how it should be like.



I have made a fanart of Jade with an original design where she has pigtails (not the ox-horn style, but regular pigtails ala Cammy from SF) which I hopefully will be able to show soon. But I agree, pigtails would be awesome for Jade!

Jade having a more typical ninja/kunoichi outfit would be awesome, but it wouldn't really make sense. Edenians aren't clad like that... but if they could change it into looking like a stealthy assassin ninja kunoichi (you get the idea) that befits Jade, then I would be all for it. ^^

The high heels are awesome, they just need to be higher, I hate how short the heels are in this game. Sonya should not be in heels though, unless she has some formal costume, which her current one is not, so I dont like heels for her. But for Kitana, Mileena, Jade, and Sindel, the heels should stay, and they should make them higher.

About their costumes being revealing, The only one that is ridiculous is Mileena's, I know shes supposed to be showing her personality, but it is literally just a few straps, barely covering her lady parts. They could have been a little less revealing on Mileena and still make it work. Kitana's costume is perfect, with the exception of the loin cloth being too short, other than that, Kitana's costume is more revealing than her past costumes, but it works because it fits Kitana so well. Like I keep saying Kitana's alternate will most likely be more assassin/ninja like. She is the freakin princess, whether it be of Outworld or Edenia, she was always a princess, she can have a costume that shows that.

Finally, back to Jade. About her costume, Im not a fan of the back, but overall her costume does look really good. I really like the belt sash thing. I like that both her and Kitana have that kinda thing. The chains are cool, but its a little too much with the belt sash, either one of the other would have been better. Jades costume is the least revealing of the three, but it is still very revealing. A high ponytail would have looked better also. Jade having a more typical ninja/kunoichi outfit, like the anime looking picture someone posted, would not be a good idea. They should stick to the leotard, loin cloth motif that they have had since MK2. I do not want to see any drastic changes to their costumes. They should all always have the same kind of "form" just different types and details and designs.

Jade looks tremendous in this game and if it wasn't for Lady in Red, she'd still be my fav female. Don't get me wrong I still like her but the drama involved around Jade is her 'race'. And you'll see pages and pages just on her race. So now it's all about Lady in Red for me. BOOYA!
