I like the op's idea, but I fear that this might be the only time we see her, at all, and that she if forgotten in the next game, which I kind of don't want to see happen.

Relax, I'm not that serious about the name, it's like Ketchup and Mustard for Sektor and Cyrax, jokey. You know, because she's a shimmering lady and all of that shit. Don't take it seriously.

Shimmer... Hmm... Not the preferred name I would want for her. If I should pick a name for her, it should sound inspired form a powerful goddess. Like Amaterasu, the Shinto goddess of the sun. Or maybe Lilith, Morrigan, Gaia, Terra or Hecate - a goddess with a connection to nature, life and death.

If she is evil a good name would be Morgana...as in the evil sorceress from the King Arthur myths Morgana Le-Fay.

Did you notice the beautiful, divine woman who appeared before Jade and took over her body? That's who we from now one will refer to as...

The Lady in Green!


Now, what do we know about this woman? Well, in Jade's ending she warns Jade about Shao Kahn's death was an outcome which must be re-imagined. She knows something about the future that the rest of us does not. And then she possessed Jade for some reason we have yet to know as well, but it seems like she will alter the result of Kahn's death or maybe resurrect him once more.

No one knows who she is, but many have come to the conclusion that it might be Khameleon due to her chosen colour (green) and that her outfit appears rather tribal with hints of reptilian design on it.

However, I believe it is a completely new character introduced to the world of Mortal Kombat, a divine woman who has a quest of sorts. One of my theories is that she is the former queen to the Dragon King Onaga when he ruled Outworld many millenia ago which would explain her clothing. Once a mortal woman, but immortilized by Onaga's power, her soul wandering the spirit world, just waiting to be resurrected and join her king once more.

Should she become a playable character, I would want her to be like a sorceress rather than a ninja or a warrior which there already are SO many of. She would have the power of life and death, maybe in the form of plants, trees, animal life - nature in its whole. A Mother Nature kind of character, if you will, but alot more brutal... because nature can be quite so brutal, and so can life.

She will be a neutral kind of character with her mind on her mission - to reunite herself with her husband. And for that she will need Shao Kahn alive, for some reason. Perhaps he will be the one leading her to Onaga's grave, maybe he knows the secret of Onaga's resurrection... Who knows?

The fact she took over Jade's body would of course mean that Jade herself would be unavailable as a playable character in the future, should her ending turn out to be canon, hence the interest of mine. It would also mean the Lady in Green would appear as Jade and would maybe be able to access Jade's skills through the possession which would have a great effect on her gameplay. She would be fast and agile, maybe moving like a snake or lizard of sorts, not much unlike Reptile, but puts her magic to use as well.

The Lady in Green could indeed turn out to become a really interesting character. What do you think about her?


I really don't think the mysterious lady has any purpose in the minds of NRS at the moment. But, if her presence was to be expanded on(which I'm praying it will be) then I love the idea of her possessing Jade and possibly having Jade become a boss character. It would be different, unique, fresh, something MK has been needing for a long ass time-a female boss. Not to mention giving Jade some much needed spotlight.

But while I love the idea of her using Jade's body, On the other hand- I am a little iffy about it. I would like to play as the mysterious lady in her original form, not in the body of Jade. Unless she's in Jade's body temporarily only to find a body that does NOT belong to an existing MK character. You know, something we could see briefly in the intro.

As far as her having ties to Onaga or any other existing character- I'm against it.

I'm CRAVING new characters/threats from origins we have never heard of. She can be a queen of a dead villainous king, but let it be a king we haven't heard of. That's simply what *I* want to see. But I guess it wouldn't matter much if it was Onaga. I just want as much new as possible in terms of characters.

But a cool thing is that NRS can easily plan out at least three more games-

-MK10 could be about Quan Chi/Shinnok while foreshadowing the mysterious lady.

- MK11 could be all about the Mysterious lady while foreshadowing the resurrection of her lost King(whether it's Onaga or someone new).

-Then MK12 could of course be about the King.

It's perfect.

Long story short, yes, I'm interested in what she'll bring to the table IF given the chance.

I'm fond of "Lady in Turquoise", but only because that's my favorite color..

Other than that, I can't wait until we find out who this lady is. (Here's hoping they don't fuck it up.....There's like an 89% chance they will indeed fuck it up.)

She's one of the very few things I have to look forward to in the next game. While I have issues with how nearly every image of Jade in story mode/her ending somehow manages to skankify her(I've always thought of Jade as more elegant... Mileena as more noody booty), she is in my top five characters in the series and it bothers me that she was disemboweled in story mode.

I like to think that they will tie her ending in with what happened in story mode, that she did indeed die in the story but just before descending into wherever it is she was going after death her spirit makes a stop in this strange world seen in her ending. This is where she meet the "lady" who takes over her body.

If they ignore this small tidbit of goodness from Jade's story in MK9, I think I might just cry. wink

Since two out of my top five are very likely gone from the next game(Sindel, Sheeva), I'm really hoping the othe three(Mileena, Rain, Jade) live up to all the potential they've been given.

I love the name Lilith, but I do have some issues with its use, especially if she is to be included as a villain. Not only is it unoriginal to call a female villain Lilith, it is also promotes everything that is wrong with the character of Lilith historically. Depending on how you look at it, the the name Lilith has many origins, but the most popular is religious. She is sometimes called the first wife of Adam(as in Adam and Eve), but she left Adam because she refused to submit to him. She refused to be his 'woman' and serve him in a marriage of two people who are not equal. Adam being the one in power. Because of this, she has been demonized. After that point, the name Lilith has been associated with demons, evil, etc... She's at times associated with Succubi(corrupters of men). She is a prime example, to me, of religious sexism.

There are those who now view Lilith as a representation of the 'goddess', likely because of how powerful a figure she has been. A woman who 'rose above', so to speak.

While I am not religious in any way and I doubt Lilith ever existed, I still would not like to see her, once again, reinvented as a villain.

Either way, this is ridiculous. At least unseenwombat was humorous with his Lady in Purple stuff.

First of all, screw all the stupid "wut" and "huh?" and "this site is going to hell" comments! Friendly advice: If you have no intention of contributing to a thread then how about NOT posting in it??
Anyway, I think your ideas are brilliant. I also was really intrigued by the "lady in Turquoise". I have mentioned before that her possessing Jade's body would be an interesting turn in her story that could even lead to her being a powerful boss in a future game! I really hope NRS doesn't forget about her coz I think it's the only story that is interesting enough to bring one of the dead guys back in the next game...
Now about her name, I find Hecate awesome! It fits her a lot, just by looking at her dunno...she screams Hecate :P Actually she looks a lot like Hecate from Age of Mythology:

You don't need to like this thread or what I wrote. That's why we're here, to share our opinions with one another. Skarlet was a non character remember? Heck even ermac and rain were too. Thats how characters get created at times and its fun to put a backstory to them, its what keeps the forums lively and interesting. Even if it means "The Lady in Green/Turqoise and Gold" doesnt get made into a real character until 20 yrs from now, if at all.
