Thanks, mate!
Does the enhanced Roundhouse also have Super Armo(u)r?
They showed that in the reveal... maybe they changed it?
So I guess *none* of his EX moves drain a bar of Super?
I was really hoping the Bubble would... it's useful for preventing Combo Breaks, and Rain is a Combo Machine

So, In the next patch I have to say that they need to make H20 Boost sustainable even if hit. It's really annoying.

Oh I know what he was like in Trilogy, he was one of my mains and I'll be the first to vouch for how necessary timing was for him back then. But wait till you see him in this game, he's easily one of the most timing orientated characters in the game, and that's coming from someone who's been maining Mileena online (and Mileena is incredibly punishable, so careful timing is a must with her).
You almost need to pay constant attention to him when your playing as him this time around, which can be a bit of a pain because your more focused on the character and the timing in his moves than you are on the opponent. He's also the type of warrior who's moves you'd need to know meticulously, how quick and how slow they all are, before you can dare to string combo's together. He's got very few quick hit combo's that are easy to pull off and only one high-low combo. He's not designed with Newbs in mind, he'd be ideal for a player who's goin from intermediate difficulty to expert that knows how to work the juggle system.
From messing around with him in the practice mode I can see a mile off he's got some interesting potential, but he's a double edged sword. You get a character who's timing can make him both awesome and incredibly risky. Up against a decent player who can use a quick fighter like Kitana or Kung Lao and Rain wouldn't stand a chance. And that's coming from one of his longest fans, IMO Sub-Zero actually has better defense and (dare I say) practical combo opportunities than Rain does.

@NoobSaibot5 I'm still getting him regardless
Thanks for such a detailed analysis, man!
I kind of thought he might be like this,
but the way you're talking has me worried he might be even more tricky than I imagined him to be!
Well, I still *love* him, and going from what you say,
he's a great character to practice advanced techniques with
Wait, you lose the buff when hit?!
LAME.

Rain is fine;
He's rather clunky, but he's fine.
Even if you're facing quicker characters -- DAT TELEPORT.
This is the 3rd time that I'm going to emphasize it:
Rain's teleport is godly.

Gotta admit, i've only been playing him for about 10-15 minutes and i can already tell he's gonna be my new main. question though. Is anyone else having trouble timing his bubble into the roundhouse?

Not a Rain fan but since there's a main thread about him, I figured I'll post my two cents.
I kinda like him. He's not that bad, it's just that, I think, if you're planning on using him just for his Specials, don't bother. They kinda suck. The only good ones is the Lightning Strike and the Super Kick.
I personally don't know how to work WITH the water bubble thing, I never could in UMK3.
And the water blast move he does is just ridiculous looking, it's effective but it's hard to believe that actually has pressure.
And I find the Gyser (sp?) Kick to be pointless though.
The majority of his good standard combos just ends up with him knocking the opponent away from him, which is not good when you're an aggressive player like me. But immediately I knew that you have to cancel them to make Rain work. And when he works, his combos look amazing!
It's nuts how you can get away with so much if the opponent doesn't Kombo Breaker. If you were ever impressed by Ermac's TK combos, the combos I discovered with Rain would probably make you go "Fuck Ermac".
Every time I do the Super Kick, the sound effect it makes almost make me grin.
I feel that he has a little hint of Ermac in him because of the Lightning Strike, since it bounces the person in the air for a free hit. And his X-Ray kinda feels like Ermac's X-Ray too.
And speaking of X-Ray, lol you can do a few more hits after that since he Super Kicks them.
I personally hope you Rain fans are happy.
And if you're not a person to do combos with characters, seriously, LEARN HIS COMBOS. The man is a monster if you can connect them.

Some notes:
I *love* his ending!
Glad I didn't spoil it
He is not slow, per se, but he has some slow recoveries.
His moves are indeed weaker than most, without the H20 Boost.
I wish he didn't have that move and were just a smidge stronger
Geyser Kick is a very fun and useful addition to Rain's Repertoire:
It's a *much* flashier way to end a combo than an uppercut
His X-Ray may be bland on its own, but it is arguably the best X-Ray in the game, and the easiest to combo into and out of. I'm just putting that out there.
Like the other DLC characters, he has two *great* fatalities (but the bubble wins, no queston!)
They dropped the ball on his Babality. Oh well.
Is it just me, or does his Super Meter rise faster than other characters?
Also, I can't shake the feeling that Water Jet move is a nod to He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named (pink dude from SF)-
how embarrassing is it to be defeated by a spray of water?!
Most importantly, he has pretty much all the same linked-Special combos.
so I can catch them with Lightning, Bubble them over, Roundhouse their ass, then uppercut! Or, Bubble, Lightning, Roundhouse, Geyser Kick
(insert your own extra pokes where necessary)
All-in-all, he's not an easy character to master,
but *very*, very capable in experienced hands.
I can't wait to Train with Rain until I can pull off massive combos like Noobsaibot5
YAAAAY!!!!
I iz happy and satisfied.
My Prince is the top-notch fighter he should be!
Yep, I am too. Not sure if it's possible. You *can* hit with the lightning first and follow with the Roundhouse (as long as you haven't already used the lightning).
Yeah, I thought that back in MKT. But I like the Lightning better, since you can see its hitbox
And yes, I am *very* happy, as a Rain fan.
I wasn't hoping for the most user-friendly character of the bunch,
I was hoping for someone with flashy combos straight outta MKT, and that's more or less what I got (and BETTER!)

What I dont get is why the team decided to give characters like Scorpion combos that you can perform by pressing one button three times and for characters that weren't used by fans in the past like Rain and Sheeva (who obviously needed their popularity raised) they give 1,2,forward 4/1,2, back 1/back2, 1+2 combos!! Daaaamn!

Thought to be fair, some of my favourite characters to play as throughout the years I'm still getting used to now. Mileena has become my best fighter, Kitana being a very close second, but to me both girls are totally unexplored in regards to potential. In past games I could pull off combo's with those two that would make very short work of my opponents in a matter of seconds. While I'm getting better with both of them, the fighting system in this game is an open field in my eyes.
You can pick up any character and with enough dedication pull off combo's that other players never even imagined possible. My point is, that even the likes of Rain and Sheeva have excellent potential, but you need to get the feel of the character first. I'm sure I'll get used to Rain's playstyle, but there's literally a list of characters I've wanted to master before him. Though proficient as Kitana and Mileena, I want to be a master as them, the best I can possibly be. After that, I've Jade, Sub-Zero, Ermac, Smoke, Reptile, Sonya and Johnny Cage to master, then Skarlet and Rain. I'll most likely be playing this game for years! lol
