To me, Kitana's costume are shit. To me, they are the very opposite of nearly everything you said.

Kitana looks horrible in both costumes, from her hair, to her face, to minor things like her knee. She looks old, mannish, and unattractive period. Then again, none of the females besides Sheeva and maybe Sindel look even remotely attractive in this game.

Her tube of hair looks silly, awkward and plain horrible.

If she was in MKD, she was going to have the costume which is commonly cited as the best Mileena costume in MK history. I think it looked better in blue, and on Kitana.

Anyways, I see this as a downgrade from her previous looks, Both are boring, uninspired, and fail to truly be a revamp of her classic looks.

Kitana's MKDA costumes will always be my favorites. Her alter in that game is my all-time favorite from her. In that costume, I saw feminine beauty, lethal assasin, wise leader, and regal all in one. I cahn't really say the same for this one. Her costume looked fine in MKA and fit in with the others. It was designed for her and fit her. Both were true updates to her classic looks and added newness that distinguished her from her fellow ninjettes.

I honsetly don't see how anyone can like the uncreative designs of this game, especially over the ones in the 3D MKs

I'm so sick of hearing this stupid argument! Kitana was going to be in MKD but later they decided to put Mileena in the game and designed her costume. There is even concept art in the game saying that the designer wanted to give Mileena a more arabian feel, when they were coming up with ideas for her costume! So yeah Kitana has nothing to do with Mileena's costume in MKD, except for "stealing" it for Sindel's ending....

You would think they'd use her MKDA model instead if it wasn't going to be her outfit. They did that for the others, but Kitana.

The game itself on the concept art mentioned it. If I was able to get one MKD, I'd find out the answer...

Not that this is worth arguing over, but I'm 99.99% positive that Mileena's concepts in the Krypt said that they wanted to give [Mileena] a more Arabian feel.

In early promotions, you could see Kitana still had her MK:DA purple leotard. (Scorpion still wore his MK:DA costume in early trailers, too)

I'm fairly certain that costume was originally designed for Mileena, but they re purposed it for Kitana, as the two had a history of wearing similar costumes..

Edit: And on the subject of MK Wiki, do not trust anything on there. Yesterday, I was looking at Kai's page where it said he was a Nepali Gurkha warrior. However, the source for that part linked to his bio card where Ed Boon said he was African-American(!).

WHO CARES if Kitana was originally supposed to get Mileena's outfit. That's like saying "Don't You (Forget About Me)" was a Billy Idol song first because it was made with him in mind. He never recorded until years after Simple Minds had a hit with it and that's the facts.

The outfit looks better on Mileena and WORKS FOR HER. Could you imagine, back then, "Princess" Kitana showing off that much skin. From her HIDEOUS MKDA attire (seriously, her face, the outfit, everything about it was revolting), it seems they wanted her to be more conservative.

I do...coz back when MKD was released Kitana fans were like "Mileena stole Kitana's place and costume in this game" and it was getting on my nerves so much coz it wasn't true! And to this day it still is annoying...so yeah

I can confirm that what Projectzero is saying is, in fact, the truth. I even have the exact quote that clarifies this business posted here, somewhere in MKO (I'll look for it).

This is how it goes:

1) Mileena's MKD costume was, in fact, designed for her and not for Kitana.

2) Kitana was taken out in favor of Jade, not Mileena. That wiki quote is correct.

3) Kitana's early design featured a costume that looks nothing like Mileena's final look: It had no veil, no long sleeves, no persian-arabic style to it. It resembled the generic half-naked ninjas look.

4) That MKD's concept art (found in the Krypt) confirms that they decided to give Mileena the arabic/persian-style look. That's when they went with the new design of a veil, long sleeves, the top, etc for her. Those features that made Mileena's costume popular where not even designed during the final stages of Kitana's look.

5) You can find proof of this in MKD. The text is found in one of the concept arts (I don't remember which) that shows the Kitana and/or Mileena early designs.

It really is not a big deal now, but, there was a time when many people would diminish and undervalue Mileena by stating that her very famous look was not originally hers and that she didn't deserve it (implying that Kitana did).

I never said anything about Mileena "stealing Kitana's costume" or anything of the like. I said if Kitana was in MKD she probably would have had something similar to the costumes she has in 2011. Would everyone have hated these costumes for Kitana if she was playable in MKD and got these costumes?

I play MKD sporadically and there is in fact a concept art in the krypt that says that some early designs of her costumes were for Kitana, but then Kitana was taken out of the game.

I think, and I emphasize the I think part so dont bite my head off like Im stating my opinion like its a fact. But I think if Mileena's primary had been for Kitana it probably would have been just a little less revealing, but Kitana still looked good in Sindel and Ermac's endings.

If she had her MK9 looks in those games, i still would've hated it. They really aren't much improvements, and I feel they aren't that much in character for Kitana.

Those costumes from MKD and Kitana's costumes in 2011, even Jade's and Mileena's costumes in 2011 are all really really similar.

I think Sindel's costumes here better in MKD. Her 2011 primary is an awesome update to the original MK3 one.

As I have said MANY a time, I don't think it fits her, because she is supposed to appear like an assassin. And her newest outfit does not have that assassin vibe to it which her past outfits had. This has more a fantasy princess vibe to it, something I think would fit her alot better for her future self after she frees Edenia (if that will ever happen in this timeline).

I never undertood why when you select MK9 klassic ninja costumes they say "MK1", actually these costumes are the MK2 ones due the scales in the cloths.

The padding pattern was also in the MK1 outfits. And also, the hoods are loose like in MK1. In MK2 they were tight-fitting.

Not to mention the lack of armbands, and different 'tabi..'
