Reptile may have an admirable motive in wanting to bring his people back, but that doesn't make him a good person. Whether he's a henchman or stepped up and started doing things for himself, dude would still be a murderous, man-eating psychopath.

This is what I'm hoping for. Since she is immature this time around (but in story mode demonstrated at least some self awareness in her few scenes, even a tiny bit of cleverness) she'd basically be the evil version of the 'hero's journey' thing, heh. If she becomes a main character, this next game is her time to grow and whatnot. I'd expect everyone to view her as some sort of pawn in their games, which is precisely the moment when a good writer would put in some character development (or at least make her a useful pawn, heh) instead of just writing her out via death because she's an inconvenience to the standard villain's standard plot.... Here's hoping.

I think Kenshi has some hero potencial, and i wouldn't mind if he was the new hero. I would be okay with it being more about Sonya and Cage as well, but i really think it will be Raiden again, although it would be cool if it was Shinnok :P

I have to agree Reptile would make things interesting, yet something tells me that Sareena will play a very big role this time whether she's the hero or not, especially since she can survive in the Netherealm and possibly rescue the 10 Dead characters or whatever their considered at this unknown point and with Sonya's help make him human again after she revives him.

I have a feeling that Liu Kang either won't be in this game, healing/taking a vacation, or will be neutral/evil this go around (not zombie though just a little bit burnt lol).

It'll be Raiden, with Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade not too far behind and keeping him in line. I can't help but imagine that Raiden won't be screwing up as much this time around just because those two will be on his ass.

Good point, but considering that most of the warriors who fought against Shinnok last time are dead, I'm not so sure about how long Raiden will last mentally.

Like some have said before, I personally don't think that Johnny Cage has the capacity too be the main character, even though he is my favorite character. I think it will definitely be Raiden as the main character, while Cage and Sonya will be somewhere in the background.

But how he was originally envisioned. With the ability to walk on his hands and be very acrobatic, couple that with a fighting style that more closely resembles Capoeira and I think he could be a very unique and interesting character..

Which would be a change for the better!! Heroic characters in MK do tend to be a bit on the boring side, I'm talking about Liu Kang!!

I want the Elder gods to revive Liu Kang & make him the new protector like in his Ending. He defeats Shinnok (again) but Raiden fails to stop him being tyrannical & commits suicide (again) to try and stop him and goes dark (again). Then someone else can be the real 'good' guy. Liu & Raiden are only interesting to me when they act atypically.

They've been pushing Raiden as the hero since MKvsDCU so maybe him with Kai in the position of monk person.

Jonny Cage, Sonya and Kenshi would be nice.

I really like Kenshi and would like to see him take centre stage.

I disagree. Kia nor Jataaka deserve a spot on the roster. Maybe an encounter with Sareena and/or Ashrah in storymode. If that's what you're talking about then yeah you're right. However, neither of those two characters deserve a spot.

I think some side characters need to remain just that, on the side. They are there for support not for actual playable characters. They have a whole shelf of characters they need to pay attention to before Kia or Jataaka ever get a roster spot.

I'm also sticking with Kenshi being the new main protagonist. Regardless of him being a loner or whatever. He seems to be as good as anyone to take up the mantle of leader. HIm or Sonya. I don't think we should all dismiss Sonya so quickly.

Its about time someone with boobs took charge of the whole MK situation. We need a woman in the lead and this one is more than capable of handling this mess.

That being said, Johnny Cage is just as realistic of a choice and option. I can see him and Sonya taking charge, specially after their roles and strong portrayals in the recent games.

I think Kenshi, like Taven, is more of an 'anti-hero'. Doing good as a means to accomplish thier agendas rather than because they want to do good for the sake of doing good. (Doesn't make them bad characters, on the contrary, it makes them more diverse personalities.) Kung Lao would have been perfect, still could be, post resurrection. And you know the MK team know how to do that.

I would like Shujinko, Kai, Fujin, Sonya, Raiden, Cage and Kenshi as the new Earthrealm heroes.

I see a total surprise coming. A total underdog out of nowhere. Quan Chi becoming the good guy by once more turning on Shinnok and pits the good guys against him. (Yeah, I just want to see his Leg Beat again.) Raiden helping Quan Chi, like in MKDA, I'd love to see it. Raiden "messes up" again and we get a new Dark Raiden! But really, a good chance we've got an underdog uprising. Ooh, Raiden tells Reptile he'll resurrect the Saurians for helping him! Instant good Reptile! But we don't write the story, John Vogel and co. do, so we'll see what they come up with.

Oh, i forgot about Shujinko! his part in the timeline is coming up and he is already on the path, especially when you consider he has the backing of master Bo'. makes sense.

I'd love to see Kenshi as the new hero but i'm always wrong or disappointed so chances are Sonya, Fujin or Li Mei.

Johnny Cage? Nah, since i would love that too.

I really think a whole new character should the new hero. I'm sort of really tired of the old characters. Some new fresh meat will add a lot of depth to the Mortal Kombat storyline.
