Kung Lao? I wish...

I was so happy in MK9 when I got to Kung Lao's chapter. Then Kung Lao beat Kintaro and thought for sure it was his time to shine. Boy was I wrong. All I want is for Kung Lao to stop being treated like a sidekick. He is like Luigi and Liu Kang is like Mario, but even Luigi had some time to shine with Luigi's Mansion. Oh well, a man can dream...

As for the new protagonist, I want it to be Johnny Cage, Sonya, Kai, or even Fujin. Any one of those four and that would be great. Wait, forgot about Kenshi.

Kung Lao had his time to shine in MKDA. He was the "main hero" of that game.

Yeah... But he died to Shang Tsung. So he wasn't really the hero.

I suppose for the next game, it'll be Sonya, Cage, Raiden, Kenshi (presumably), Fujin, et al.
In terms of who will win the tournament, assuming that there is one, I guess Raiden, or Fujin? No idea, really.

I see the story for MK10 centered around Sonya and Johnny Cage looking for characters to fight alongside them for the upcoming invasion similar to MK Conquest, so they might be "protagonists" so to speak.

Either that or NRS will find a way to make Scorpion the protagonist.

I'm kind of hoping we have multiple protagonists who aren't all necessarily on the same side. Since there is a possibility of a civil war/defense against the slightly more evil people situation in Outworld, I think it'd be great to have an evil main character whose story revolves around that. Mileena, Rain, Reiko, perhaps even Tanya to give the player a unique perspective etc... Whatever. I'd like an evil main protagonist. On the good side of things, my vote goes for Sonya. Though, I think the next game should focus on many characters and not really have a main hero so.... Whatever, heh.

I'm looking at Raiden to redeem himself.

Kai can stand in for Lui Kang unless they want to bring back Shujinko

I'm hoping Johnny Cage is the new hero. I think it would actually make a pretty good character arc for Johnny to go from arrogant movie star to the savior of the world.

I'm going with one of these three: Johnny Cage (please no), Kai, or Kenshi. Either of the last two I would be fine with. I don't want them making Johnny insta-serious and expect me to believe it though. Johnny's a good character, I'm not hating on him, he is a good character. he's not main protagonist worthy though.

Also keep Scorpion waaaaaaaaay away from that spot. I'd also be fine with Sonya too.

After the way he got to be the one to fight the endboss in both vsDCU and 9, I think we're kinda stuck with the focus on Raiden for a while, unfortunately.
I'm just gonna keep hoping he gets some kind of comeuppance for fucking up so bad or loses his mind and turns dark again.

I'm guessing their done with the singular main hero, now everyone can shine and anyone can win the tournament.

Anyhoo, it may be possible that Kai may become the new protagaonist, and maybe even stay with the white Lotus Society this time around.

Indeed. I think Reptile should start taking himself seriously and be a major player in the next game's story, which would of course make him cross paths with Mileena who should not be sidelined for the billionth time when this is the most appropriate moment for her to step up as a main character.

To be honest I wouldn't be suprised if we never saw those two again. I just don't think they have the likability factor to make a comeback as the new heroes of the game.

I doubt Reptile would ever be a hero, but since we're moving towards the MK4 portion of the timeline, it does give Reptile the opportunity to step up and take charge, though the last time he tried to, Shinnok blew his head off.

As for Mileena, I would love to see as a main character, but it won't be easy. This time around, she has a very child-like mind, very playful and impulsive. I fear that if anything, Shinnok will take advantage of her. Hopefully, she'll mature fast enough to fend for herself.
