Exactly what i think!!! Most of the so-called ninja characters arent even ninja (even KITANA, MILEENA, JADE, and KHAMELEON)

No, unlike Dead or Alive where half the cast are ACTUAL ninjas, MK still only got ONE real ninja which is Scorpion! The rest just look the part.
And I am going to keep stating this until people get it, as annoying it might be.
Sorry all.

K so assuming there all "ninjas"
Heres your awnser. Its a retelling of mk 1-3 where we met all the ninjas (not including frost) and not a single one has been introduced since then (not including frost.
If you didnt know about the time wapr thing, the i get it now you have the awnser. However since your on a mortal kombat board im gonna take a gesse u know what is going on in terms of story and therefore you are a troll just tryin to start shit (which i give u kudos cause it was sucessfull)
There not going to randomly throw in a samuri becuase of varity or because it would be cool or whatever. because this game is albout nostelgia there not gonna add some random shit because u dont like the chracters of the first three games that came out more than a decade ago

I understand you want people to "get" they are not historical ninjas. But I don't think you understand people DO get that. I'm fully aware that MK1 Reptile is not a ninja by the textbook definition. But I'm going to call him one, because he looks like one, and thats a generally accepted idea.
I think you are finding concern in that people don't know what a real ninja is. But they actually do know, and for the sake of convenience they call them "ninjas" based on their looks.

100% agree with this.
Perfectly said

lol CORRECT!

So basically what you are saying is that judging a book by its cover is acceptable because it is more convenient... Yeah, I don't have that mindset.

Yes it is. Because its an accepted definition by popular culture. Ninjas didnt even wear outfits like the MK characters. But if you show someone the suit, they will say its a ninja suit.
Society has their own definition of a ninja. There are Pop Culture ninjas and historical ninjas. Scorpion, Ermac, Sub Zero, etc. (at least from their appearances in MK1-3) are Pop culture ninjas.
People arent going to say " Whats with all the characters who have the outfits of the sterotypical ninja?" Thats unnecessary and a mouth full.

You know why I call Ermac, Sub-Zero, Noob, Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke, and Rain "ninjas"? Because even the most casual fan knows who I'm talking about when I say "the ninjas."
There comes a point where you just have to go with the flow of public knowledge/acceptance, even when you're part of the probably less-than-30%* of the fanbase that knows it's incorrect.
*Random number.

I don't really care about what is mainstream and what is not. That type of mindset seems superficial to me and is definately not something I applaud. It's the same with people saying someone is emo because he has a long fringe or that someone is gay because he is effeminate... No, I don't accept that at all, nor am I willing to try.

damn Good emo analogy (not being sarcastic or a dick)

shit you guys are making rain, ermac, and reptile feel like the goth kids from sout park. "Did that girl just call us emo"
Lol apolagize if that is out of context (or for peopel who dont know what im talking about)

Thats not the same thing at all.
Saying people are emo based on their looks is assuming something about there personalities.
There IS such thing as a pop culture ninja. Thats why there are "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and Power Ranger spin offs. A historical ninja is a different thing.
Did you know the word "assassin" is taken from the name of a Persian Kingdom who often had spies kill their political enemies? Eventually, the word "assassin" was absorbed by the world to mean what it does today.
Does this mean that new definition is wrong? No.
Does it mean that the "assassins" from Persia are no longer historically accurate? No
But nobody is going to say a modern day assassin isnt one because he was not a member of that particular ancient kingdom that was wiped out by the Ilkhans. And @ stinky: Hahaha. Just how it goes.

... What?
Anyways, technically, they're not ninjas... But they still are because of their looks. I don't think they are ninjas because they don't act like one. But I don't think there needs to be an argument trying to decipher what these guys are. They are ninjas according to fans who don't want to get technical, they are not ninjas to those who think on the technical side.
But I blame the stereotype...

Sub Zero is not a ninja.
Yes, I am aware that the word "assassin" derives from the Persian/Arabic term "hashashin" which describes a people who masters stealth and dark arts, much like the Japanese ninja. The difference is, the word "assassin" has since become a part of the English vocabulary and describes, well, assassins. Indeed, ninjas are assassins as well, but the culture behind it is what makes a ninja different from other assassins.
Assassin is a much wider term where ninja is something more specific.
Indeed, as many other things, popculture has totally destroyed the meaning of the word so now everyone who puts on a mask is called a ninja. Hell, you don't even have to put on a mask to be called a ninja anymore. As long you are able to kick someone in the face, people are all "Whoa, that's totally ninja, dude!"
That's stupidifying the meaning of the word. And that's what mainstream is doing to things...

In my personal opinion the word "ninja" is getting way way too mixed up with assassin. To me it takes a person with certain skills and discipline to become a ninja. Anyone can be an assassin and use whatever they fill is necessary to get the job done and ninja are taught a certain way to carry things out.
So Scorpion is a NINJA.......most of the others are warriors or assassins, they just have ninja inspired outfits.

Now I believe you are oversimplifying the pop culture definitions.
If someone knows martial arts, they are not a Pop Culture ninja, same goes for if they just wear a mask. People don't call Liu Kang a Ninja...people don't call Kahn a ninja.
Whether you think its fair or not. What a "ninja" is HAS been changed. If you go to a Halloween store they sell a "ninja" costume and it probably is very similar to what an MK1 Scorpion looks like. When people started representing ninjas inaccurately, there may have been people arguing your same points.
But the fact of the matter is that people kept on creating whats now a Pop Culture ninja. Its BURNED into society just like how "assassin" is not just seen as the historical kingdom anymore. Its not "ignorant" of me to recognize that this other type of Ninja has been created by popular culture for years upon years. I'm not just going to ignore the existence of the pop culture ninja because I don't think it should be accepted. But it is, so as much as I don't want to get on your nerves or anything like that....you need to accept that there is a pop culture ninja. The fact we are even having this discussion is evidence that people recognize the difference between a real ninja and a pop culture ninja. Its there, it may be a bastardization of the real ninjas from long ago, but its there.

i was a ninja for Halloween a few years ago... Bought it from the guy's selection because girls had no ninja costumes... It did not look like Scorpion/Sub-Zero/Reptile's MK1, except the hood was somewhat similar...
